Our uncle moved in in November 2022. He has been very comfortable and so happy since then. The lovely staff have really engaged with him - he loves a good chat! He thoroughly enjoys all the activities offered to him - he had a very active life before moving in and really loves taking part. Thanks to all the team for all their great work. It’s very much appreciated by his family and friends.

My husband moved to Murrayside Care Home four weeks ago, the staff have taken time to get to know him and adapt to his complex needs. He settled in almost immediately and is joining in activities. The staff will go to great lengths to involve the family about any care the resident requires. They put on a couples afternoon tea for Valentine’s Day making it a special afternoon.

My aunt moved to Murrayside recently and we both appreciate the warm welcome and effort made by considerate, experienced staff to accommodate her needs and wishes and to help her integrate with the rhythm of daily life. She has enjoyed joining in with various activities and mealtimes in the dining room and, following the restrictions of the Covid era, is appreciating the new opportunities open to her - such as a trip to the panto! Her room and the social areas are bright, clean and well-maintained. Moving from living independently to a care home inevitably has its challenges but I am very grateful to Murrayside for all they do to support my aunt as she settles into her new home.

My mum moved into Murrayside three weeks ago. The home is very comfortable and clean with spacious rooms and ensuite wet rooms. Mum was very apprehensive about moving from her own home. After one week she said that she couldn't imagine moving back to her flat and felt so settled that it was like she'd been living there for a while. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and always available to answer any questions we may have. Mum has joined in the plentiful and varied entertainments and thoroughly enjoyed them. We are very happy that we chose Murrayside.

All the staff and setting at Murrayside Care Home made my father's transition from hospital to a new home as seamless as possible. My father has settled into Memory Lane very well and is brighter, healthier and more sociable than he has been for some months. I cannot thank the staff enough for making him comfortable and happy again. They make him laugh.
He has a lovely room with a nice aspect from his window with some of his furniture and belongings from home.

Murrayside has given me peace of mind that he is safe and well looked after.

My mother has been at Murrayside for just over two months now and I am delighted she is settling in so well. I have found all the staff to be welcoming, friendly, caring and very professional. The whole care home is well designed and kept very clean, as well as having a very friendly, welcoming atmosphere. It has great facilities, especially the cafe where Mum is a regular visitor. Mum has enjoyed many of the very varied activities offered and has been to quite a few concerts, singing along to songs, I never knew, she knew. Her health and outlook on life has certainly improved in the caring environment she is in. Long may it continue!

Everyone at Murrayside is so welcoming and friendly. There is always something for residents to do, the activities coordinators do a fantastic job at keeping everyone entertained. The cafe is a great place to catch up when visiting with an amazing view of the castle! Dad lived his best life at Murrayside. I cannot recommend Murrayside highly enough, such a great care home.

My dad moved into the care home in August, settled in very quickly and seems to be known to many, if not all, of the staff. The staff seem very friendly and I am glad we chose Murrayside as it really is a lovely facility. He's not quite grasped the concept that he is not able to get on a bus to the local supermarket and do his shopping, as he was a few months ago, but the staff are very patient with him and cajole him into staying in the care home unless he goes on an outing or we take him out. He has started getting more involved in the activities and thoroughly enjoyed the canal boat trip yesterday. Regarding the food, he enjoys most of the meals and when asked if he could have a banana at breakfast one day was delighted when a banana appeared on his plate! I am confident he will settle into a routine moving forward. Having him in a safe comfortable environment is a blessing.

My cousin and I were immediately taken with Murrayside, there is a lovely warmth and cosiness about the home. The residents rooms are attractively decorated and furnished with good ensuite facilities, residents can bring their own ornaments and pictures to make their room a little bit like home. The staff have always been professional, friendly and reassuring to both mum and I, I am always made to feel welcome. It took mum a few weeks to settle but settle she has due to the sensitive and diligent care given by all the staff on mum's floor. I should also say that mum requires a wheat free diet which they have no issue providing, she often orders something not on the daily menu which is cooked fresh for her. It was a huge and emotional decision to move mum but I am so glad that we chose Murrayside as we can't fault it.

The home is well designed, particularly the residential ground floor, where most rooms offer individual patio door access to pleasantly laid out gardens and outside seating. The rooms themselves are tastefully decorated and furnished with a full sized, well equipped en-suite.
My mother was very apprehensive about moving from her home of 47 years but thanks to the experienced and very caring staff she has slotted in exceptionally well and is now quite content, feeling safe, secure and even making a few friends. The staff are thoughtful and pragmatic too, allowing little personal touches like her customary finger of brandy every now and then.
At the 4 week review with social services, the team leader had all aspects of my mother’s day to day living at her fingertips, fully documented and to hand.

As a family we are more than pleased.

My sister and I have been thrilled at how quickly our mother has settled into Murrayside. The rooms are spacious, bright, airy, comfortable and very well appointed. The staff have proved to be professional, caring and totally focused on her well-being. In addition, they are always available to answer any questions we may have. There always seems to be something going on; quizzes, games and all sorts of events to keep residents busy and engaged, and Mum is thriving on it all. Murrayside presents a safe, caring and vibrant environment for our mum, and we couldn't be happier with how she is doing!

Murrayside care home and staff have provided excellent support and care for my dad throughout the entire time he was there.

The building has an excellent layout and is well maintained.

The staff are very friendly and caring yet maintain a professional approach and provide a high quality of care.

My dad quickly developed lovely friendships and felt staff has his best interest at heart.

I would highly recommend being a resident at Murrayside.

I am amazed at how well my mum has settled in at Murrayside since she moved from home at the end of August 2021. She loves her room and, in particular, the lovely open outlook from her window. I feel she is now safe and well supported to care for herself in as far as she is still able to do this. She enjoys the company (which she didn’t have living on her own) and has been gently encouraged to join in with activities, particularly the sing-a-longs. I also gather she’s a regular winner at the bingo!

Thank you for your review. We, too, are very pleased that your mother has settled in so well at Murrayside. The sing a longs and bingo are firm favourites with a number of our residents and put a smile on their faces! We are looking forward to having more activities again, in larger groups, once this is possible.

My mother recently moved into Murrayside from another care home in Edinburgh and I have been so impressed by the kindness, support and professionalism shown, not only to my mother but also to myself and my sister. In addition to providing high-quality care in a lovely and well-maintained environment, the communication between staff and ourselves has been excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend Murrayside to others and indeed have already done so!

My mother passed away at the home in October. I can not fault the care given to her in the two years she was resident and the kindness shown to me on that day.

Mother was not the easiest to care for I am sure, but she was treated with good humour by understanding and caring staff.

The standard of care is excellent. Staff have put on special events, including ABBA and Hawaiian afternoons for the residents. Staff all go the extra mile, nothing seems a problem to them. The lifting of Covid restrictions means I have more freedom to come and go, feel I am getting to know everyone a bit better now. Regular updates on Mum’s progress and what she needs.

Thank you for your lovely review. We really appreciate your kind comments during what has been a very trying time for our residents and all staff. The residents thoroughly enjoy the entertainment being provided and the most recent Abba-themed event is still being talked about - it was so much fun!

Following a short stay in hospital, March 2021, my 90-year-old mother needed to leave her home of 62 years to receive nursing care. Although due to the Covid-19 restrictions at that time it was not possible to enter Murrayside to view the facilities we were able to decide that this was the right place for Mum based on an external tour with the customer manager, information on the website, and most importantly personal recommendations.
From day 1 Mum was made to feel welcome. We have been very impressed with the professionalism and friendly manner of all staff members who always go that extra mile to support and care for the residents. We are very pleased with the care Mum is receiving and with the regular updates, we get (phone/email/in-person) regarding her progress from various members of the team.

This was always going to be a big move for Mum both physically and mentally. Pleased to say that after just 2 months of residency Mum now regards this as her home.

I’m a qualified Registered General Nurse and I joined Care UK in 2015. I’d been working as an agency nurse prior to that but I felt it was time to find a permanent role and really settle into the adult care sector. I think as a home manager it’s important to know the residents and the colleagues in your team. They are central to delivering the best care, so ensuring they’re happy and content is all-important.

The best part of any day is the opportunity to chat with my team and our wonderful residents and their families. It’s important we feel like one big family at Murrayside, so spending time together is key to that. This is a fantastic care home and I’m exciting about leading the team to even greater things.

Away from my job I enjoy walking. I’m very into the Step Challenge and enjoy creating some healthy competition with colleagues, friends and family with that. I also enjoy socialising with friends and family whenever I can.

I moved sector and city when I joined the Murrayside team in 2020, I used to be the Trainee Manager of a five-star hotel in Aberdeen. When the pandemic started, I decided it was time for a change, and here I am.

I’m so grateful that I made the move into care, and came back to Edinburgh. I started out at Murrayside as a Receptionist/Administrator and I’ve worked my way up the ladder. It was a huge career highlight for me to be promoted into my current role as Customer Relations Manager at Murrayside.

I feel huge pride in being part of the Murrayside family. I love showing people around our amazing home, introducing them to the team, and showing them everything we have to offer. When I can, I enjoy chatting to residents and even getting involved in activities. I love seeing the residents making the most of each day.
