Review of Pear Tree House from A M (Daughter of Resident) published on 26 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My relative has recently moved into this facility following a fall which broke his hip . He is not used to residential care but is being well looked after. He always looks clean, dressed and well cared for . Staff are attentive and kindly with him, offering him choices where appropriate so that he retains his sense of autonomy as he has capacity . Little things such as ensuring his hearing aids are put in without having to ask carers to do this really ensures my father in law can make the most of his visitors. Residents are given plenty of choice to select from a range of meals and activities are organised such as Royal afternoon Tea and trips out. Fabulous ! Thank you all

My dad had a couple of weeks respite in 2025, and he loved it so much he decided he wanted to move to Rossendale House. He had been struggling at home.

He and the family have never looked back it's been great for him and reassuring for the family that he is cared for. The staff are fantastic, all of them. I'm so glad that Rossendale House was available for my dad. Thank you.

Generally good level of care and service but constant staff shortages let things down.

Review of Pear Tree House from Laszlo H (Brother of Resident) published on 14 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
After visiting other Care Homes in the area it quickly became apparent that Pear Tree House was leaps and bounds above the rest.
My brother Tibor became a resident on St Patrick's day 17 March 2026 and has settled in extremely well, with all of his family commenting on how well he is cared for and how well the Care Home is run and managed.
The Staff and Management are always on hand, courteous and exceptionally helpful in everything they do. Every task is carried out professionally.
Tibor's family know from the visits by various members and by talking to Tibor and staff that he is most certainly in the best place possible for all his care requirements.
I can only add my personal thanks to all the Management and Staff at this exceptional Care Home.
Thank You.
On behalf of Tibor's family.

Laszlo

My choice of care for my husband of 54yrs is very important to me and I chose Pear Tree House of which I have only got praise he is clean well fed and most importantly happy.

The staff really take time and care in all their actions with the residents, the home itself always seems to have something going on and it's a joy to see all the residents not just sitting asleep in their chairs but enjoying and participating in whatever is going on at that time.

Review of Rossendale House from Carol H (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
We were in a position where we had to find a care home for my mum who had Parkinsons.
She moved in in April 2025 and settled in well, she liked the staff.
My dad also lived there for the last 3 weeks of his life so they got to see each other for a while every day.
Most of the staff are lovely but the food did not live up to the website's promise. You see the photos and think "wow" but I found them to be a bit "school dinner".
The sweet shop was limited and underwhelming.
My mum never got to experience the gardens and only had one day out before she died (a fast food restaurant and a coffee chain) because they didn't have the staff or space for her on day trips as she needed a wheelchair but she made full use of the hairdresser. (Never underestimate having your hair washed)
I also felt at times they were understaffed, 1 carer was clearly distracted and one was downright rude to me.

They need to remember people are paying a lot of money to be there, regardless of age or incapacity.

Review of Pear Tree House from D S (Son of Resident) published on 14 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Pear Tree House is a good quality building, nicely flitted out with wonderful caring staff. Over the past 6 months whilst being sold to Care UK, staffing levels have been allowed to fall to what appears to be a legal minimum. This remains the case and although it is being addressed, for now the great staff are overstretched and lack the time to interact with residents. Residents needing assistance dressing often have long waits.
Any verbal requests from family members can be overlooked. Emails are recommended.
Food remains a constant complaint from residents. Any trips out are far and few between.

Hopefully things will improve when staffing levels increase.

Overall Experience
My mum moved to Meadowcroft in February 2026 initially on her respite care basis but has now decided to remain on an ongoing basis.
Since we had initial contact with the home I have been extremely impressed by the standard of the facilities but particularly by the care, accessibility, friendliness, compassion and efficiency of all the staff.
The staff are all excellent and really care. Things they say they will do always get done, questions are answered quickly, they appear to work together well as a team and most importantly my mum likes them, is happy and well cared for.
The rooms, lounges, etc are clean, welcoming and well equipped. The home looks and feels much more like a high standard hotel than a care home, albeit with a programme of daily activities.
The food appears to be good, varied and nicely presented and is supplemented by frequent snacks and drinks with staff keeping a close eye on sufficient consumption.

It's expensive but everything is included and it's really good.

Review of Meadow Croft from A B (Ex Family Member) published on 9 April 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

This home is beyond expectations. The wealth of facilities, the cleanliness, the very attentive and caring staff, need seeing to be believed. The rooms are so well designed and with care to detail, with thought going into making sure homely touches can be installed. I was also impressed by the social aspects, with so many events planned for different people amd different abilities. I just cant fault this home or the staff involved in it.

Rossendale House is a modern, purpose-built care home which provides a very safe, comfortable living space. All the safety measures and procedures are in place. The staff are all very friendly and approachable and indicates a good level of training and experience. Moving my other into Rossendall House was surprisingly easy with any issues being dealt with quickly. It's always easy to identify who to speak to if anything concerns me.

Review of Meadow Croft from Terri F (Sister of Resident) published on 23 February 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

My sister was taken into emergency care at a very difficult time for me. I felt wretched putting my sister in care, but the time was much too difficult for me, as I had my husband very poorly as well. My fears were soon dispelled by the very caring staff and the relaxing atmosphere of the care home.

When I went to look round the home I was made so welcome. Gave me the confidence to know that this is the right place for my mum. The home is beautiful and clean. The food is good and nourishing. My mum moved from a different home. She was unhealthy and underweight. She is now thriving. The care is excellent . She gets her hair done and has chiropody treatment. She looks healthy, clean and tidy. The staff are lovely. Very jolly and friendly. There's a lovely feel in the home. Excellent
