Parsons Grange

from K I (Partner of Resident) published on 23 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Parsons Grange is a caring home where the staff show genuine compassion for residents and their individual needs. They listen and take on board what families have to say, which is much appreciated. There seems to be very good communication among the different teams in the home.
The carers are kind
and attentive. Through the app, families are kept well informed about what is happening in the home.
I appreciate the efforts made to support my partner, including the daily walks, which mean a great deal. As residents have different abilities and needs, it would be wonderful to see opportunities for even more tailored activities where possible.
Thank you very much for the care and support you provide for my partner!

Dad moved in at the beginning of March and settled in very easily. He's enjoying the food and many of the activities. If the weather allows, he loves to sit in the garden. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff and I feel like I have been accepted into the Newbury Grove family too!

My Grandparents have been in Bickerton Care home for almost 4 years now and they love it. They say moving in was the best decision they made and we honestly believe that too. We can't thank the staff enough for their genuine kindness and attention towards everyone in the home. They always go above and
beyond for all their residents and make visitors feel welcome as well which is really important. The facilities are lovely and offer a great variety of spaces for you to relax, enjoy some time indoors or out, and socialise with the other residents. My grandma's favourite part is definitely the food and my grandad's is that he gets to maintain a social life whilst being comfortable and looked after. Couldn't recommend Bickerton Care Home enough!

Larkland House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My wife has been in Larkland House with advanced dementia for more than two years, and I have been very happy with the care she has received.
I looked at four care homes before deciding on Larkland House. I ran a residence for nearly 200 university students in Kensington for 10 years of my life.
Students are young whereas Larkland residents are old, but the management principles are the same. I think I can see a good place when I find one.
The leadership and administrative teams at Larkland are both very good; the senior staff are always friendly and helpful. As for the nursing team, Larkland has no contract staff; the care team is hand-picked, and it shows! Relationships within the team seem to be excellent. There is lots of healthy laughter, which is always a good sign! And I would especially like to commend the chefs, because the food is very good - probably the best institutional food I have come across.
Overall, I am very pleased that I chose Larkland House for my wife.

Newbury Grove

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We really can't sing Newbury Groves praises too high!
Having looked round a few homes we knew NG was the best location but it all hinged on "the feeling". From the moment we met Julie, that feeling grew as we wandered around. The staff were all so friendly and Julie was so caring and understanding
of the choice we were making and what was right for Ben. No selling, no just agreeing with what we said, but a kind and listening approach that made us relax and no we had found the right place.
Wumi visited Ben in hospital and he was immediately at ease and ready to go!! The communication with the hospital pre discharge, not an easy ask, was seamless and he duly arrived.
It is no exaggeration to say that his mood and health improved within a week. He is relaxed and smiling again!
From Adarsh through the chefs and the good food, to the nurses, carers Housekeeping, all have a smile that tells you this is a good place to be!
A gushing review? Yes and only because it is fully deserved!
Reply from Julie Howick, Reviews Team at Newbury GroveThank you Jonathan for taking the time to review Newbury Grove. It is great to hear Ben relaxed as soon as he arrived. Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Our Mother Brigid Foley spent two and a half years as a resident at Newbury Grove. We looked at many Carehomes in Wiltshire and Berkshire and from the first day we knew we had made the right decision with NG. We as a family all agreed that everything about the home exceeded our expectations, Mum was
cared for by the loveliest carers, housekeepers, activities co ordinators, receptionists and an outstanding manager. Mum's room was cleaned meticulously every day, she received the best nutrition, all the meals were to her liking, she always said "I can't fault this place, it's like a 5 star hotel' All the staff got to know her pretty quickly and they made us feel very welcome whenever we visited, which was often and at anytime of the day. We will forever be grateful to all the staff at Newbury Grove and continue to recommend the home to anyone with loved ones that need some extra care. Alex O'Connell

My mother was admitted to Newbury Grove in May 2024. From the first day she was made to feel at home and settled in very well. All members of staff grew to know her in a very timely way and she was soon made to feel like one of the Newbury Grove family. Care was consistently delivered in a caring and
compassionate manner, not just by the nursing staff, but by the activity co-ordinators, catering & administrative staff.
As a family, we were also made feel comfortable and respected by everyone. We underwent regular care review consultations with staff, not just when Mum was resident of the day , but regularly throughout the year. Management were extremely quick in their response to any concerns & reflective learning was very prevalent within the nursing team. I am a retired registered nurse, and I would be proud of the team at Newbury Grove.
Reply from Julie Howick, Reviews Team at Newbury GroveThank you SD for taking the time to review Newbury Grove. There is a wonderful atmosphere of care and kindness at Newbury Grove. All residents are known as individuals and their needs understood. They are treated with dignity and compassion.

The strong management team works alongside the carers ensuring a professional, dedicated and happy atmosphere with

high retention of staff.

The wide range of activities includes craft, gentle exercises, music, and outings in the Home's minibus. If residents prefer, there are 1:1 times.

The delicious and nutritious food provides excellent choice and can be adapted to suit individual circumstances.

A beautiful courtyard garden provides sunny or shaded areas and residents can tend their own raised beds.

The rooms are comfortable, clean, well maintained and all have ensuite wet room facilities.

All together, Newbury Grove is a very special place and I highly recommend it..

After 21 months in Parsons Grange our relative is still receiving a wonderful standard of care from all the nursing staff and management. Always impressed by the range of activities that they encourage the residents in Allfrey wing to partake in. Xmas, New Year, Burns Night, Valentines Day are always
highlights where the staff make a real statement. Also a nice touch that the staff take photos and send them to us of our relative involved in an activity. Eva at 96yo could not be in a better place.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum recently stayed at Bickerton House Care Home in Bracknell for emergency respite care, and I cannot speak highly enough of the experience.
From the outset, the team demonstrated professionalism, compassion and a genuine commitment to understanding Mum as an individual. They quickly recognised
that she wasn't really a morning person and adapted her routine accordingly, bringing her breakfast in bed, allowing her to wake gently and start the day comfortably. That level of personal attention meant so much to us as a family. She was truly treated like a princess.
The team kept us up to date throughout her stay and that was great, and during what was a difficult period, we felt reassured and supported. The staff showed patience, warmth and dignity in every interaction.
For any family considering respite or longer-term care in the Bracknell area, we found Bickerton House to be attentive, respectful and deeply caring. We are sincerely grateful for everything.

Hi team, thanks so much for everyone making mum's 85th today so brilliant. She said it was her best birthday ever! The entertainer sang all the classic numbers, and mum loved dancing with everyone, your chef did an amazing birthday cake and all the care team went to such an effort to make her happy
and make the day go smoothly. Thanks for painting her nails and getting the birthday cake sorted! Thanks for amazing dancing with the carers and residents! And thank you so much for booking such an excellent singer. A good time was had by mum, so thanks again for making it so memorable and special.
Reply from Claire Usher, Reviews Team at Mountbatten GrangeThank you so much for your lovely message.
We are delighted to hear your mum had such a special 85th birthday and that she enjoyed every moment. It was a pleasure to celebrate with her, especially seeing her up dancing and enjoying the music. We also really enjoyed seeing her celebrating with her friends and sharing those happy moments together.
We will be sure to pass your kind words on to the entertainer, our chef, and the whole care team. They’ll really appreciate knowing that the cake, the nail painting, and all the effort behind the scenes helped make the day run smoothly and feel memorable.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of such an important occasion. We’re so pleased it meant so much to your mum and to you.

This review is to cover the last 2 years, what can I say this home and the staff and management have gone above and beyond with my father's care.
He can't walk now or speak but they include him in so many events that he enjoys. He loves visiting the bistro area where he can sit and enjoy being with
people. I can honestly say we never sit there very long before staff members come across to dad, his smile is so bright with all the staff members it gives you a great sense of security witnessing this knowing he is loved by so many.
He's visited the pub a few times on outings, and enjoys a non alcoholic beer.
Garden centres and Dinton Pastures are another favourite.
Dad has one on one care and management and staff have worked very hard to ensure he only has a few people that does this care, as dad can get agitated when he doesn't know people really well.
Parsons Grange is excellent and we feel like part of a large family. Very supportive home.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The staff at Mountbatten Grange go out of their way to provide a personalised experience for the residents in their care. Both my parents are in Mountbatten Grange and they both have a care plan individualised for them. Dad is very active and loves attending all the activities whereas mum suffers with
Alzheimer's but the staff treat her with compassion and kindness. She is encouraged to participate in events but is often reluctant to do so. One carer, in particular, puts CDs on from her favourite singer for mum to listen to.
We knew Mountbatten was the right choice when mum and dad first visited three years ago. After 7 months they decided to go back home as they felt so much better, having been looked after and relieved of the pressures of looking after the house, but a year later chose to return. As a relative I feel I have a good relationship with the management team at the home and they are always willing to listen to any concerns I do have and answer any queries.
Reply from Claire Usher, Reviews Team at Mountbatten GrangeThank you so much for your lovely feedback.
