Very good all-round experience. All staff, especially the carers, are professional, compassionate and a pleasure to interact with. A clean and safe environment with high-quality food available in a very comfortable dining room. All staff are always ready to help and quick to respond to any emergencies
which may occur.

My Stepmum has been at Mountbatten Grange for three or so months now. Realising that independent living is not an option any more, moving to the care sector was not without its difficult moments and a major concern for me. After being somewhere else for a while moving here has seen a huge transformation
in her outlook on life which is just incredible and she is now so happy.
I can't fault the communication, care and consideration that has been shown to my Stepmum and to the family. It is truly exemplary. The management and care staff just look after everything and nothing is too much trouble. Mountbatten Grange is just superb.
Reply from Claire Usher, Reviews Team at Mountbatten GrangeThank you so much for sharing this. It means a great deal to hear how much Mountbatten Grange has supported your stepmum and your family. Knowing that she’s happier, more settled, and truly cared for is incredibly uplifting. Your kind words about the team’s compassion and dedication are deeply appreciated — they reflect exactly what we strive for every day. We’re genuinely grateful for your trust and feel privileged to be part of her life and wellbeing

My Mum had been at Mountbatten Grange for 3 years living with advanced dementia when she passed away this month. The positive leadership at this care home drives a committed and caring team. Mum experienced kindness and compassion from staff at all levels, as did her family. All staff were friendly
and on the whole joyful. The care home was clean, well furnished and bright and airy and there were plenty of activities going on for residents. Her end of life care was handled beautifully and she was treated with dignity and respect. Couldn't ask of more from a care home. Thank you.
Reply from Claire Usher, Reviews Team at Mountbatten GrangeThank you for sharing such a heartfelt message. We’re touched to know your mum felt kindness, dignity, and comfort with us. Mountbatten Grange is fabulous on every level. Debbie, Claire and the whole team are all brilliant and make every element of this often painful phase of life, so much more bearable. The level of attention, care and kindness shown by everyone is unmatched. Although everyone is toally professional throughout,
there is a real sense of family and community within Mountbatten Grange. Within hours of introduction, I was greeted by name every time I visited, always offered a coffee and always time for a chat. Everyone was so keen to understand Betty's background and history it was so refreshing.
Being able to relax and know that our loved one was in the best possible hands 24/7 made a huge impact on all of us involved. I would have absolutely no hesitation recommending Mountbatten Grange to everyone and was tempted to book in myself.
Reply from Claire Usher, Reviews Team at Mountbatten GrangeThank you for sharing such kind feedback. We’re really glad to know that Betty, her family and loved ones felt supported and welcomed from the very start. It means a lot to the whole team to hear that their care, kindness, and time made a difference during a challenging period. We truly appreciate your recommendation.

Mountbatten Grange put on a lovely spread for my grandma's birthday, the staff went above and beyond to make it a special day! Tania was amazing and many compliments to the catering team who made a fantastic range if sweet treats and savoury treats and the most delicious birthday cake! A lovely staff
member was also on hand to assist my grandma back to her room! Thanks for making it such a special day! As a registered healthcare professional I have had many encounters with care homes and residential facilities, the staff were fantastic and this is certainly a care home I would highly recommend!

From the moment your staff reviewed my mothers' situation in hospital, to the moment she was tucked up in bed at the home, everything was carried out in a professional and timely manner. I am sure that my stay at the home has helped with my recovery and also gave my husband piece of mind because because he knew I was safely being cared for after for after my knee operation and that medication was supervised and that the correct treatment dose given to me even in the middle of of the
night when I was in pain. Lovely's lovely friendly staff who couldn't have done more to welcome my family and and myself during my 2 weeks stay.

The service we have received from Mountbatten Grange has been exceptional. All staff have been very supportive to my Mum and my family at a very stressful and emotional time. They have made the very difficult decision of putting my Mum into care, worry free and have continued to be extremely supportive
whilst Mum settles in. We can not thank all staff enough for their compassion and understanding. Nothing is a problem and the staff go out of their way to accommodate as much as possible.

My mother moved to Mountbatten Grange 2 1/2 years ago, and since then her dementia has progressed significantly. A couple of months ago she was moved to the Nursing Dementia floor and, for her own safety, now requires 1-2-1 care. Throughout her residence, she has been treated with such loving care,
that it warms my heart to know she is in the best hands. She is registered blind and so my concern was that she would be left alone to live in a bubble of isolation, but the care staff seem to see who she is inside and often joke with her, so that, in her lucid moments, she smiles and seems happy. I can't ask for any more than that. This atmosphere would not be possible if it were not cascaded down from the management. I am always amazed to note that, as well as being responsible for the day-to -day running of the home, they make it their business to know the condition of each resident and can always tell me how my mother is doing that day. It is without doubt the best care home in our area.

Dad needed some respite care after losing our mum, I can honestly say the staff at Mountbatten have been absolutely fantastic and their care and kindness has helped him get through a difficult time.
It was a great relief to know that dad was being well looked after and had company if and when he wanted.
He
actually extended his stay as he felt so at home.
You can really tell the staff are genuine and they made us and my dad feel so welcome.
if dad ever needs to go into respite again, he would definitely be very happy to go back to Mountbatten Grange.
All the other residents that I spoke to all seemed to be happy and enjoying themselves, it has such a good atmosphere and my initial gut instinct when I was shown round was spot on.
The facilities on each floor are excellent with a lounge, restaurant, cinema room, hairdressers and a coffee lounge which has fresh coffee and cakes and savoury treats that the residents and visitors are encouraged to help themselves to.
Thanks to all the staff

I was at Mountbatten Grange for one week post hip replacement on crutches. I had a great ground floor bright room giving me access is everything I needed including the garden. The staff were friendly, welcoming, respectful and kind as were the residents. I needed help with a health hitch and the nurses
were helpful and reassuring during the night. The food was good, lots of choice, the sea bass was really good. My family were able to visit and said it had a lovely atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble and I would certainly recommend MG to anyone in my situation and would go back if I ever needed their services again.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.896)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.896) out of 10 for Mountbatten Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Mountbatten Grange is calculated as follows: ( (391 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 434 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Mountbatten Grange is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I started my career in care in 2001 and joined the Care UK team in 2006. What really stands out for me about Mountbatten Grange is its homely atmosphere. Family members can visit whenever they want and are always guaranteed a lovely welcome.

My goal at work every day is to make sure every resident is happy and enjoying a stimulating, fulfilling life. I think the only way to achieve this is by making sure that each resident receives truly individualised care from people who’ve invested time in really getting to know them, their needs and their experiences. It’s also important to me that family members are happy with the care that their loved one is receiving. Getting great feedback from relatives is very rewarding for everyone on our team.

Outside of work I enjoy being outdoors, taking walks, going for bike rides and generally spending time in the countryside. Many residents enjoy spending time outdoors too, so we like to get out and about as much as possible, in the local area and also to the coast.
