My mother in law has been in Bickerton house since December 2025 and is thriving. Since arriving there the care that she has received has been amazing. I can't speak highly enough about the staff and the care they provide. There is a great homely atmosphere and a real feeling of inclusion for the residents and us as family members.

Overall Experience

My Mum has been a resident at Bickerton since December 2025. We have both found the home to be so welcoming, kind and caring. Instantly it felt like a home from home to Mum and has continued to feel like that. There is an atmosphere of calm and happiness. The staff interaction with residents is always with kindness, respect and dignity. Staff also communicate well with each other with mutual support and respect. It is clear that Bickerton is lead well from the top with an open door policy to all. The management team actively encourages communication and feedback between all at the care home and clearly want to continue their high standards and to strive to do more. The activities team are excellent coming up with innovative ways to entertain all. The chefs are also excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending Bickerton.

My Grandparents have been in Bickerton Care home for almost 4 years now and they love it. They say moving in was the best decision they made and we honestly believe that too. We can't thank the staff enough for their genuine kindness and attention towards everyone in the home. They always go above and beyond for all their residents and make visitors feel welcome as well which is really important. The facilities are lovely and offer a great variety of spaces for you to relax, enjoy some time indoors or out, and socialise with the other residents. My grandma's favourite part is definitely the food and my grandad's is that he gets to maintain a social life whilst being comfortable and looked after. Couldn't recommend Bickerton Care Home enough!

Overall Experience
My mum recently stayed at Bickerton House Care Home in Bracknell for emergency respite care, and I cannot speak highly enough of the experience.
From the outset, the team demonstrated professionalism, compassion and a genuine commitment to understanding Mum as an individual. They quickly recognised that she wasn't really a morning person and adapted her routine accordingly, bringing her breakfast in bed, allowing her to wake gently and start the day comfortably. That level of personal attention meant so much to us as a family. She was truly treated like a princess.
The team kept us up to date throughout her stay and that was great, and during what was a difficult period, we felt reassured and supported. The staff showed patience, warmth and dignity in every interaction.

For any family considering respite or longer-term care in the Bracknell area, we found Bickerton House to be attentive, respectful and deeply caring. We are sincerely grateful for everything.

I am very grateful to the staff of Bickerton House who cared for my Mother up until her death. She was resident at the Swinley Forest Unit on respite care. Staff were exceptional in their care of my Mother. All staff were approachable, friendly, professional, practical and above all caring.
Staff at Bickerton House were friendly and approachable at all levels in the organisation. Leadership and the management of staff has clearly established a positive ethos that runs through the organisation.

My family and I are very grateful to staff in supporting Carole in the final 6 weeks of her life. They provided the very best level of care. Thank you.

Overall Experience

Mum has been at Bickerton House for over a year now and she clearly feels very at home. From the early days, making the transition from her own home to settling in, everyone without exception has been so kind and helpful making her feel well looked after. Mum has her own ways of wanting to do things and the staff have gently encouraged her to join in some of the activities such as the seated exercise class which she really enjoys and this helped her to get to know the other residents. One of her other favourite things to do is go to the coffee shop to have a cappuccino. As a family, we are always made to feel very welcome when we visit as all the staff are so friendly and we know that when we leave mum is in good hands!

The staff are excellent, providing a great level of service at all times. The nursing staff are always very quick to spot any health issues and get medical help immediately. As our mother wasn't eating well in her room the staff now take her to the dining room which has really helped.
We enjoy our visits as we are warmly greeted by Reception staff and management.

Thank you to all the carers and nurses. We feel happy leaving mum in their care in Bickerton.

Overall Experience
Over the past 8 months, we've been visiting a family friend at Bickerton Care Home and we've been consistently impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are always attentive, caring, and friendly, going above and beyond to ensure the well-being of the residents. The range of activities offered to residents is fantastic, and they are always encouraged in a gentle, supportive manner to participate.
The receptionist is both prompt and delightful, creating a positive first impression every time we visit. The home itself is bright, clean, and pleasantly decorated, creating a comfortable and inviting environment. I particularly appreciate the personalised entrances to resident's rooms, adding a special touch.
The café is a wonderful space that truly feels like an enjoyable spot for residents, a testament to the staff's dedication and care, especially considering the varying needs of the residents.

Great residential care but you would need to organise your own rehabilitation

Bickerton House care home took care of my elderly aunt for around 5 months before she died.

They came to the rescue of our family when she initially needed urgent respite care after an emergency operation, and again after a another spell in hospital after which when she needed palliative care. The staff were all very kind to her, and also to the family members who visited her. It was not easy caring for someone so poorly and the staff did their very best for her right up to the end. Her family are all very grateful that we were able to use the services of Bickerton House at what was a difficult time.

Safe and well cared for. The Home offers excellent service not only to the residents but also keeping the family and carer updated which is so important. There were issues regarding the quality of food but that has now been resolved. The manager is approachable and always wants to hear from residents and family in the event something needs looking at. The staff seem a lot happier now he is in charge rather than with previous managers. Have no issues and well done for running a good ship.

Both of my parents are residents, mother with Alzheimer's and father with mobility issues.

I think my primary reason for the level of satisfaction is that I no longer fear for their safety and they have 24/7 care, which in my mother's case, is essential.

My mother-in-law has been there for six weeks after having a stroke, it was the best decision we made. She is very happy there, lovely environment and lovely staff. Overall Experience

My mother and father-in-law have both been living at Bickerton House since April this year. They each have very different care needs and they are polar opposites when it comes to likes, dislikes, personalities etc. however everyone at Bickerton, without exception, shows great respect and empathy toward every individual and their personal situation or needs. They listen to and try hard to deliver special requests and are always welcoming to family and friends when they visit. When my mum-in-law was very poorly, they showed great empathy by allowing us to visit at any time, enabling us to visit every day around work schedules and the kids' clubs etc. I cannot fault them. I've found a real gem in Bickerton House and am so glad my in-laws are now safe and very happy in their new home.

Both my mother and father are residents at Bickerton House. My mother has Alzheimer's and is therefore on a different floor to my father. The staff are so understanding of the different needs they both have, especially as my mother, sadly, has deteriorated in the last year. They have supported and helped my father to cope with seeing less of my mother, I have really appreciated the care and thought that has gone into this.

The care for both of them is fantastic and very individual.

Thank you to the staff of Bickerton House for making my mother's 96th birthday such a memorable experience, she was overjoyed by the fuss and attention she received. We were able to have lunch together in a private room, the food was excellent and the cake, made on-site, exceptional. Moving Mum to a care home came with some trepidation but now seeing how happy she is, I know it was absolutely the right decision. She has quickly made friends and despite many offers from family, has decided staying at Bickerton is her preferred Christmas destination. My mother has been a resident only for a few months but already is referring to the staff as "my angels" which is good enough for me. She really does seem to be enjoying herself, I'm sure she thinks she is on holiday.

Meet the Team (1)

Michael Pallister
Michael PallisterJob Title:Home Manager

As Home Manager at Bickerton House, the most important part of my role is to make sure residents feel safe.

A big part of what I do is supporting my team. In particular, helping them navigate the healthcare sector which is always growing and developing. With that in mind, you also need to be well-organised and approachable. It helps that I can draw on my 15 years of experience and level five qualification in leadership.

When I first joined Care UK, I did so because its ethos reflected my own values and beliefs. A career highlight for me is the fact I have been able to work my way up through dedication and learning. Now, I feel proud to be part of a strong team that I have also helped grow. For us, it is about celebrating each other’s achievements and seeing how we can do even better.

Every day is different, but my favourite part is being able to spend time with residents and their families. I love finding out about their lives, getting to know them and listening to their wealth of knowledge.

Outside of work, we are an adventurous family and enjoy road trips and holidays. Having a very sporty son also means we spend a lot of time out and about supporting his activities.
