My mum is a resident of Bickerton House and is so happy there. The care she receives, not just personal care but emotional and well-being, is exemplary.
She thoroughly enjoys all the activities and experiences they offer which makes her time so much more fulfilled. The staff are amazing, they are very approachable, honest and professional and make sure that each resident is treated individually.
It is such a relief to know that the people caring for my mum are doing so in a way where she doesn't feel like a 'patient' but a member of a large family.
The management is very approachable and always listens to concerns and deals with them promptly which is a great benefit when you have to trust a loved one to someone else.
Bickerton has made my mum's life better and she enjoys every aspect of being there.

Thank you Bickerton!

My wife and I have lived in Bickerton House for two years and feel happy and comfortable here. Our five bedroom house had become too big for us to look after. My wife fell and hit her leg on a kitchen unit. She was in hospital for two weeks and told that she needed to be in a care home.
We chose Bickerton House because the careers were obviously very caring. We have comfortable, well-furnished rooms and enjoy the varied and healthy menus at breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have exercises three days each week that help keep us fit. We enjoy the various singers and other entertainers who come in. In the summer we enjoy sitting in the garden and talking with other residents. Also, the care home has a minibus which took us to Windsor for a very enjoyable trip on the river. All these activities are enjoyable and give us important new memories.

Overall, we have a better, more comfortable and interesting life at Bickerton House than we did over the last few years we spent in our house.

Our parents moved to Bickerton House two and a half years ago and it's a decision we have never regretted. They were given a spacious en-suite room together on the dementia floor. They have been looked after with care and compassion and their medical needs are carefully observed.
Their days are often filled with seasonal activities and musical performances. On summer days we love to sit with them on a terrace or out in the garden.
Sadly, we recently lost our father to Alzheimer's. All the staff were excellent at monitoring him and making him as comfortable as possible during his final days. We're very grateful for all their support of Mum and Dad during this difficult time and indeed, the wider family.

We have always found every staff member to be professional, knowledgeable and caring and above all, friendly!

Mum was struggling at home and had been in hospital and it was time to find a care home that had Mum as a priority and I knew she was safe. The staff at Bickerton House work above and beyond to make Mum feel so welcome. They call me to let me know if she has had a bad night - they inform me what she has been doing. It is home from home. She says the food is amazing, her room is spotless, there are activities every day and she is teaching a few staff to knit which makes her feel needed. It was the best decision I ever made and Mum is so happy. They also arranged a 90th birthday garden party for her and were happy for her family to attend - with a singer too! Thank you Bickerton for making my mum happy which makes me happy.

My dad moved to Bickerton House from another care home in March 2024. He settled into his new surroundings fairly quickly through thoughtful attention from the staff. We have been very impressed by both the facilities provided and, in particular, the friendly, caring staff. When we visit Dad and take him to the coffee 'shop' and to visit the gardens, all the staff seem to know Dad by name and always have a friendly word to say to him. We were also impressed by the effort put in by the staff for events that had been organised, such as the D-Day celebration and the sports day, the latter supported by local school children linked to the care home. The management team have been efficient throughout and always say hello when we visit. Sadly, Dad's health deteriorated and he passed away at the home. During this difficult time, the staff were excellent and looked after Dad and us with great care, attention and dignity. We have been very pleased with the whole experience provided at Bickerton.

Moving Mum into care was a difficult decision but due to a worsening respiratory condition and the onset of dementia, it was necessary for her safety and well-being. We visited several facilities but Bickerton was by far the nicest we saw - great facilities, cleanliness, quality of resident rooms and friendliness of staff. We moved Mum from Scotland to be closer to us which was complex but the customer relations manager and the team were so helpful in helping us navigate this process.

Since being at Bickerton House, Mum's health has actually improved. She is in nursing care due to her use of oxygen but her breathing has improved, her mobility is better and she is very happy being there. The staff are excellent, they always make us feel welcome when we visit, making a special effort with my young children in particular. We've also attended a couple of Bickerton's events over the summer as a family, which has been great. Thank you to all at Bickerton for the excellent care you're providing to Mum.

I'm sure like most people, facing the fact that your loved one needs to make the move to supported living, can be so hard. We all came to realise, Dad included, that the time was now. Then comes the worrying time of finding the right home, with the best care. But then came Bickerton House. Initially it was for the close proximity to my sister but once we stepped foot inside, we were sold.
The first thing was the smiling, warm faces greeting us by the staff. Next came the cleanliness and how well the facilities went beyond our expectations. It smelt so clean and fresh and was so bright and inviting.
The residents we met appeared so at home and there was such a calmness to the environment.
We were navigated so professionally through the process of arranging Dad's placement, which really made the whole transition smooth and so less stressful.

Within 2 weeks Dad was settled in his new home. We can't thank the staff for all their help, kindness and professionalism. An amazing team.

Mum has been at Bickerton House since January 2024. She is receiving nursing care and I can say that the staff looking after her have been very professional and caring. What's good is that they take action when they see a need in a timely fashion, with evolving medical conditions for example. This gives our family great comfort. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and there are events every day including trips out in the minibus. I am very happy with the care that Mum has received at Bickerton House.

I have been in this home for just under a year. Am now doing a lot more activities including a exercise class 3 times a week. Every day there is an activity it might be a singer or games. The food is good and you get a choice of what you want to eat.

The staff are always happy to help and have smiles on their faces. Last but not least the cakes are lovely.

I have a resident at Bickerton House for two years or so. I came here for end-of-life care but two years later I'm still around and am very active around the home. I think Bickerton has been good for me as I'm no longer as ill as I was and I managed to fill my days doing lots of things around the home. I love the activities and the gym sessions, I'm a resident ambassador so I spend a lot of time chatting to other residents, staff and relatives, I also go and chat to new residents and try to make them feel welcome. All in all I'd say I've gained a new lease of life which I think is testament to Bickerton's care.

My father has just joined them at Bickerton House, it is one of the best care homes in Bracknell. (In my opinion).
It is very welcoming and the facilities are amazing.
They do lot with the residents and also involve the wider community.
The staff are very friendly and the nurses are too. Nothing is too much trouble.
They helped with respite to start with, bringing the start of his respite forward after seeing the family at crisis point.
My dad went on to enjoy his stay so much that he is now a permanent resident and looks so much better and healthier for it.
I would recommend going and having a look around, you won’t be disappointed.

I would 100% recommend.

Really good home with very friendly staff and very caring attitude.
The management are all very friendly, have lots of time for you and are very approachable.
The activities team are always encouraging Mum to be involved and when she can’t or doesn’t want to, they make sure they spend time with her so she isn’t missing out.
The food is fantastic and the cafe area is always a pleasure to sit in.

Highly recommend the home to anyone looking in the area.

Such a lovely, friendly care home who welcomed both my parents with open arms. Unfortunately, they were only here for a few weeks respite but it certainly got them back on their feet and cheered them up immensely.
Really appreciated that they had rooms next door to each other and sat together at mealtimes looking out the window.

Very happy parents, shame they had to go home.

My brother has been in Bickerton House Care Home for nine weeks respite care. During this time, his health and well-being have improved significantly. He gets on well with the staff who are very friendly and caring. The home is always very clean and feels very safe. The residents are well looked after. He is only leaving here to be closer to his family.

Bickerton House is beautiful and mum has a lovely, sunny room with an en-suite shower room.

The staff are so friendly and went out of their way to introduce themselves to Mum on her first day. She’s been in the garden every day which she loves. She is making friends and is so much brighter and happier. They have so many facilities available to the residents and lots of activities. The menu is varied and the tables are laid out beautifully which encourages mum to eat and be social. I love the individual Memory boxes outside each room where mum has put some of her treasures, and her precious photos have been put on the wall so it feels more like home. It is a very hard and distressing time, placing a loved parent into a care home but seeing mum happy again is worth it.

My mum has been in the care home since August 2022.
When we come to view the home, we were greeted with friendly staff and shown around the whole home. It is very clean and everyone seemed very friendly and helpful. It was like home from home with their bedrooms.
I was very happy and thought this would be fab for my mum. It was a hard decision to put my mum in a care home but seeing this helped me so much. They have so many daily activities going on too and also have a pub and hairdressers in there too. Also a Cafe with an assortment of cakes daily.
Since mum has been in there, I haven’t looked back. They are so lovely and she has settled in so well. She’s very safe and looked after amazingly. I get regular feedback to let me know how she is getting on.

I’m so pleased she’s being cared for so well, I would highly recommend this home.

I recommend Bickerton House Care Home to anyone looking for a care home for themselves, relatives or friend. I use to be a live-in carer for one of their residence. The lady I was caring for, her health had deteriorated, she had to be assessed by a social worker and after the assessment they decided that she needs two carers and that it would be best for her to be in a care home.
I was very upset, concerned about her care, I wanted the best for her. I am happy to say I am no longer sad because she is in good hands, well cared for, she is clean, the home has got lots of activities to suit individual needs, hairdresser, you name it, they got it at Bickerton House. They are like a big happy family and I feel included. They are kind and polite to me whenever I call or visit.

They have organised a a zoom for me to speak to my lovely lady, they do lovely meal good choices.

We had looked at a number of homes for Mum to go into for respite and Bickerton was top of the list. Mum settled very quickly and enjoyed her surroundings and accommodation. She became fond of a number of carers who looked after her very well and for this reason, she came on in leaps and bounds due to their care and understanding and was able to move back home quite quickly. I think and hope she will be a frequent visitor and likely return for respite care again, as she feels safe and very content at Bickerton.

I found the management to be extremely helpful, caring and the process was simple to get Mum moved there. I would highly recommend Bickerton House.

Meet the Team (1)

Michael Pallister
Michael PallisterJob Title:Home Manager

As Home Manager at Bickerton House, the most important part of my role is to make sure residents feel safe.

A big part of what I do is supporting my team. In particular, helping them navigate the healthcare sector which is always growing and developing. With that in mind, you also need to be well-organised and approachable. It helps that I can draw on my 15 years of experience and level five qualification in leadership.

When I first joined Care UK, I did so because its ethos reflected my own values and beliefs. A career highlight for me is the fact I have been able to work my way up through dedication and learning. Now, I feel proud to be part of a strong team that I have also helped grow. For us, it is about celebrating each other’s achievements and seeing how we can do even better.

Every day is different, but my favourite part is being able to spend time with residents and their families. I love finding out about their lives, getting to know them and listening to their wealth of knowledge.

Outside of work, we are an adventurous family and enjoy road trips and holidays. Having a very sporty son also means we spend a lot of time out and about supporting his activities.
