My dad has just gone back into Cavell Court for respite care. After spending 10 months in Cavell last year after being very ill there is nowhere else he would want to go for respite.
The care is brilliant, all members of staff are so friendly, makes dad feel part of the Cavell family.

Staff worked so hard to get dad back to good health last year and he was able to return home but will always return to Cavell for respite care when needed. I would recommend this care home to anybody.

Review of Cavell Court from David C (Brother of Resident) published on 26 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My brother is a recent admission to Cavell Court, he does not do change well and the staff here have made him feel welcome, safe and part of their family in a VERY short space of time.
He is happy, socializing more and said he loves living there.
I can't thank the whole team enough for making him feel at home.
This should be the model for ALL care homes in the UK.

Thank you guys.

Overall Experience

My mother, came to reside at Cavell court in February 2025. The quality of care she has received has been wonderful. The staff always have time for me and answer all my questions. The staff are amazing and look after my mum so well. The activity team always have lots going on every day and when out on visits take photos and load them up on the care home website. Even though my mum is bed bound and doesn't go on the trips, I love seeing the joy on the residents faces in the photos. The coffee shop area in the home is a lovely place to chat to other residents and their families or friends. Management were very obliging when I asked if I could do quick visits after I have left work around 6.30pm to check on mum. I cannot fault this care home. It's brilliant and the friendly staff in all departments are constantly considerate.

My mother has been at the home for a year now and has settled in very well. The care has been excellent, and everyone is kind, caring and supportive. There are plenty of activities available, as well as a cinema room, which everyone enjoys. The home is not too big, which creates a more personal and welcoming atmosphere.

Overall mum well cared for and generally happy. A few things I'm not happy with -
- Mum being served food on a dirty tray.
- Laundry not being done.

- Mum's finger nails not being trimmed depsite me asking several times and only today being told that I need to provide kit for doing this (when she was at home the podiatrists trimmed finger and toe nails) One of the dishwashers has been broken for a number of weeks - this is not acceptable and affects staff and residents - is a hygiene issue.

Mum had one negative comment - saying some of the staff did not enjoy their job and didn't like what they had to do in the role - it was noticeable to her, she is very aware despite short term memory loss. But she enjoyed all the activities very much. It was a great help to me to know mum was in safe hands. Thank you.

Review of Oak Manor from L H (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 11 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
This home and the love and level of care is completely incomprehensible unless you experience this first hand.
The whole staff team are caring, thoughtful, conscientious and always make my relative smile.
The kitchen create the most delicious meals and the housekeeping team always ensure the home is fresh and beautiful. The maintenance always help with all the home improvements.
The nurses are approachable and keep me updated on everything.
The home manager is the nicest lady you could ever wish to meet, who made us feel completely welcome, safe, cared for and comfortable from the second we met her. She took extra special time to meet my loved one, spend time with him before admission and ensure everything was perfect from day one. We looked at 10 homes, Oak Manor was the 10th home we saw and we knew immediately.

I cannot recommend this home more to anyone looking for nursing care and more specifically dementia specialist care.

Right from our first meeting, we knew Heath Lodge was the care home for my wife. The care is 110%, and you will not find a more lovely and professional bunch of management and carers anywhere. My wife did go into two homes for respite, but they cannot hold a candle to Heath Lodge care. To say she is very happy and the family is very happy is an understatement.

When you hand over your loved one for others to care for them you trust them to offer kindness and compassion at a difficult time.

Oak manor did just that. They truly cared for my father offering activities and birthday celebrations. Their kindness on the day he passed surpassed all expectations. He was treated as we were with genuine care. The staff are truly amazing thank you this will never be forgotten x

Review of Oak Manor from Helen D (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Oak Manor demonstrated an incredibly professional and empathetic approach when supporting and caring for my dad during the last few months of his life. He was always treated with dignity and care. His diagnosis of advanced dementia meant that sometimes his behaviour could be challenging, and a previous nursing home had struggled to manage him.
However from the moment he arrived at Oak Manor he appeared to relax and his placement gave him his dignity back during the final months of his life.
All staff, without exception were friendly and supportive, and welcoming whenever we visited, making us cups of tea and offering hugs when they were needed.

I'm so happy that my dad got to spend his final months with you and will be always grateful for the high standard of care and support he received while he was in your care.

Reply from Stuart Lamacraft, Reviews Team at Oak Manor

My mother is currently being cared for within Heath Lodge. The care she has received ever since moving into the home has been exemplary. They hit high standards across all categories. Focus is very much on the residents, building relationships, understanding their needs and going the extra mile to make them feel special and part of the Heath Lodge family. Highly recommended!
