My sister is really happy in her environment. There is always plenty to do and many treats along the way. The staff are all very friendly and react kindly to all residents, without exception. A very caring staff.
The Entertainments Manager always seems to have great ideas, that keep the residents,
engaged and proactive, which is so good for their mental health and well-being. The Home is well managed and although there may be a few hiccoughs now and again, as is always in a large community, these are rapidly solved with the meetings that are regularly held with family members and staff.
All in all, a fun place to be. Well done.

As my mother reached the end of her amazing, one-hundred year life, the staff treated her (and myself) with kindness and respect which I'm sure was some comfort to her in her last hours. It was clear how much they all cared for her at that time and again when they came outside to pay their respects
as she made her last journey to the crematorium. I am deeply grateful to them all for looking after her for more than two years prior to that too.

My mother has been a resident at Heath Lodge since 1st June 2023. It is an extremely difficult and emotional time when one acknowledges that this is a decision one has to make for a much-loved parent. My mother is as happy as she can be under the circumstances. The whole team are so caring and understanding
at Heath Lodge and in my opinion they go the extra mile to do all they can to make their guests feel as much 'at home' as possible.

My wife's move to Heath Lodge from another care home, who didn't have the skills level to look after her safely, went smoothly. The staff were extremely welcoming and she settled in quickly.
She requires assistance with nearly all aspects of her daily care. The staff are consistently kind, attentive,
and considerate of her needs, especially as she is often only able to communicate non-verbally. They take time to understand her and respond with patience and compassion.
Her 14-page care plan is detailed, regularly updated and reviewed monthly.
Whenever she is moved by hoist, staff carefully explain what is going to happen and carry this out with patience and reassurance. Her personal care is always delivered with dignity and respect.
The carers also make an effort to involve her in activities which she is often happy simply to watch,
This caring and professional approach starts with the manager and is reflected across the entire team. It is something they should all be proud of.

All very good. My Father is being treated with respect and kindness. The activities are extremely good and help to stimulate him. He is very fond of gardening and the outside areas are really well maintained. Food and staff are excellent and he is enjoying his time in the Care Home.

The staff and management are excellent in every way, and I could not be happier with the care my husband receives.
The facilities are great, and he now very much enjoys his nutritious meals and activities provided.
The happy and caring staff always have time to answer any queries and keep me informed
of any changes.
In his words, "This is a lovely plave and everyone likes me", which says it all.

I was dreading the day my mum had to go into a care home, as a nurse of many years I had seen and heard horror stories, however Heath Lodge is AMAZING. The love and care given to my mum, and in turn my dad when he visited has been first class. All members of the team work so well togther, they have
a smile and fun at work, which leads to a happy home enviroment for the residents. Every day there was a different activity happening, the food was wonderful, and the facilities were always clean.
All staff interected with Mum and got to know her well whilst she was there, nothing was ever too much trouble.
I cannot thank the staff enough for their dedication in making this facility a happy home for the residents.

After 58 years of marriage the prospect of putting my wife into a care home was a terrible experience. But from the first day the professional care and understanding of the staff was second to none .Both my wife and I were treated with care and consideration by the management and ALL the staff. I
could not fault anyone from the care home , everyone showed love and care for the residents and their relatives. This caring attitude of all the staff starts with manager and is practiced by all the staff ,something which they can all be proud of.

Mum came into Heath Lodge Care Home in Feb 2023, one of 3 first residents. Early settling difficulties were managed well. The home has grown well, to 56 residents, under the excellent management of the manager & her professional team.
Mum is well cared for, both physically & emotionally. Nothing is
too much trouble for staff, from managers & admin, cleaning, carers, caterers & activity staff. Mum gradually joining in with a few activities now.

My mum relocated to Heath Lodge following a hip replacement. From the first day I found the care to spot on. She needs quite a bit of personal care assistance which is provided with great care and respect. It takes skill and patience to do this without causing distress. Mum has quite bad dementia although
she has great humour about her. However they are well able to deal with quirky conversations. Oh, and they make a great cup of tea - essential for mum!

The experience of visiting Heath Lodge was excellent. This very much includes the combination of both carers and residents. Along with the environment, location and space - Indoors and out. During a visit over many days, the experiences was one of harmony, perhaps uniquely found within a holistic elderly
care environment. The kindness, compassion and communication of staff was very apparent and appreciated. The home is modern, new and designed with much deep consideration for its users. It felt closer to a comfortable retreat with well designed rooms and communal spaces located around an outdoor space with excellent potential. New trees, blooms and accessible flower beds are a continuous process, informed and inspired by residents ideas. Sitting out in the sun you'd be forgiven for thinking you were enjoying a holiday. Restorative respite at its best. I left feeling confident family thrive at Heath Lodge

On the whole a good experience. Could do with more staff at times and there were variations in the quality of the food, particularly in the cooking.
Considering the cost I think the standard should be better,
There were no managers available over the weekends which is very surprising
Reply from jan gibbs, Regional Manager at Heath Lodge Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback regarding your experience. Of course we are disappointed that not all of your expectations have been met and as we take all feedback seriously, please be assured that your comments will be discussed with our team. I can advise you that whilst our General Manager and Care Manager' working hours are mainly Monday to Friday, they do provide management cover at the weekend and of course we always have a Unit Manager covering the whole weekend.

I have held off writing a review for Heath Lodge Care Home for three months to ensure I got a very clear picture of the home, the staff, food, activities and overall care of my mother who is living with dementia....
I can now say, without a shadow of a doubt that Heath Lodge is an absolutely fantastic
Care Home in my opinion. I visit my mother a couple of times a week and after the initial settling in period, which is always tricky with dementia, she is now very happy. All of the staff are friendly, caring, polite and calm, they seem to genuinely care and know every resident well. The meals are delicious and mum always clears her plate (as do I when I join her for lunch!). There are daily activities which are varied and stimulating. The bedrooms are beautiful, my mother's has a door onto the enclosed garden which she loves. I genuinely can not fault this place and rave about it to my friends. It is such a relief to know my mum can spend the rest of her life in such a luxurious Home.
Reply from jan gibbs, Regional Manager at Heath Lodge Thank you for your very kind feedback and I am pleased that you have found Heath to be the right home for your Mother. It is always a very daunting experience finding a new home for our loved ones, our team understand this, and they do their very best to make every day special. I will certainly pass on your feedback to our team.

My father's dementia and occasional falls were making his ability to stay at home tremendously concerning. He moved into Heath Lodge and it was immediately obvious that this was the best place for him. The staff have been brilliantly understanding right from the initial meeting through to the present.
My father has found it hard to settle but this is by no means a reflection on the staff. His dementia does not allow him to recall any of the reasons for him being there as his short term memory is horrendous. However the continual reassurance and care that he receives from the staff along with strategies from the Manager have helped ease him into his new surroundings. Furthermore the constant awareness of health issues as they arise has also given me total peace of mind. They are very attuned to the needs of residents with the very many forms that dementia presents and the interaction is always suited to that individual residents needs. Very happy with what they do for us, thank you all.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.797)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.797) out of 10 for Heath Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.797 for Heath Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (335 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 403 Ratings = 4.797
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Heath Lodge is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
