4/52 respite care following a period of hospital admission for investigation. The staff are very nice and caring and one is well looked after. Uniforms for nursing staff vary in blue - more colour for senior staff.

After a serious car accident, my parents reluctantly agreed to a two-week stay at Heath Lodge to help with their recuperation. We were extremely grateful to the manager and the team for admitting them at such short notice and have been delighted with the care and support they received. Despite their
reservations as young-at-heart 80-somethings, my parents settled in extremely quickly and have had a wonderful stay. The facility is modern, light, quiet and warm. The rooms are well-equipped and comfortable.
My parents love the food and have found the staff cheerful, friendly and incredibly hard-working. Nothing is too much trouble and that goes for visitors too. It is no small way due to Heath Lodge that my parents are recovering well and will soon be back home, we can't thank the team enough.
Reply from Amy Batchelor, Customer Relations Manager at Heath Lodge Care HomeThank you for your wonderful review, it was an absolute pleasure welcoming your parents into Heath Lodge. We are so pleased they settled well and got the well needed rest they both needed. Please do not hesitate to contact us in the future if you require care for them. We wish them both all the best for the future and hope they continue recovering well.

The care my relative received around her end-of-life period was exemplary. I am a nurse by profession and a retired CQC inspector and specialist professional clinical advisor and would rate the home as outstanding in the areas I observed.

A wonderful care home. Mum went into Heath Lodge in December 2023. When we were looking for a care home for Mum, we were very impressed with the support we got from the manager, she came out to Mum's to see what her needs were and that the home could meet them. She supported us every step of the way
in getting Mum a place in the home and is still as supportive now. The staff are very friendly welcoming and supportive, nothing is too much trouble. The resident's care and well-being is always at the forefront in everything they do. All of the staff do an amazing job, it takes special people to do their job, it's hard work but they always have smiles on their faces. Each and every member of staff I have met has been amazing. Thank you all for everything you are doing for Mum.

My dad lived at Heath Lodge from the time it opened in February 2023 to August when his needs became too severe for the home to manage and following hospitalisation he was discharged to a nursing home which could meet his needs. The staff at Heath Lodge did their very best for him, really going above
and beyond what was expected in a residential care setting. Had it not been for their efforts my dad would have needed to leave sooner owing to the level of his physical and medical need.
The community nursing team is very thinly stretched and did not always respond in a timely fashion to requests for help. This was beyond the control of Heath Lodge staff but did contribute to the eventual decision to move my dad to a setting with on-site nursing.
Reply from Amy Batchelor, Customer Relations Manager at Heath Lodge Care HomeThank you for your lovely review, we are so pleased we were able to care for Dad initially and we really hope he is settling into his new home now. The team at Heath Lodge really pride themselves on delivering person-centred care and your review confirms the fantastic work they do. Thank you

Heath Lodge were absolutely wonderful supporting my mother - and our family - in her final days. The carers and support staff were all so kind, caring, patient - absolutely nothing was too much trouble and they really did make all the difference at a very sad and stressful time.
Heath Lodge is nicely
appointed, well-equipped and very clean. I would highly recommend it. Thank you to all the team there for 'making a difference'.

My mum required care, but in an environment, she felt at home in. We visited Heath Lodge and she liked the newness and the fact she could have a 'suite' in due course. In May she moved in. There were definitely teething problems with regard to staffing numbers and the food left something to be desired
in the early stages but improved as time went on. The home was beautifully furnished and always clean - very important things for my mum. She did eventually get her larger room and it was stunning with lovely views across fields, and with the extra space Mum started to accept it as her home. She developed some good relationships with the longer-term staff, enjoyed the cinema, having her own bird feeder, the coffee mornings and other various events. I do feel there could have been more activities for those without dementia, as she felt many were a little childish. Unfortunately Mum became poorly, and it is here that I can not praise the management enough - amazing care and concern!

Heath Lodge was beautifully furnished but had no recliner chairs. I was post-op knee replacement and needed one, so had to elevate my leg on the bed. The carers were excellent and very kind and I was impressed with their patience and care for those who were confused or had dementia. I was unable to
get to the dining room, so meals were on a tray. My room was at the far end and the food was usually tepid or cold and delivery erratic due to the staff being busy. As a retired RGN of 40 years, I did feel that many dementia patients and their demands rather 'put off' those who were 'compos mentis' and I have heard this said outside in the community, as they can be upsetting and intrusive to those who have not come across this before. I feel they should be separate, with extra staff and different activities.
Reply from Amy Batchelor, Customer Relations Manager at Heath Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to leave a review for us.
We really value your feedback. Firstly, I am sorry you didn’t feel able to come along to the dining room for your meals, we have reviewed our meal service to those choosing to eat in their rooms and your feedback has been noted and we have now improved this service.
Here at Heath Lodge, we pride ourselves on delivering person centred care and our home being a community, with this in mind we don’t believe residents should be separated due to a diagnosis of living with dementia. We regularly review individuals needs and if we feel an individual is having an impact on others living at Heath Lodge, we address this with our trained staff and reach out to our community support teams to help support the resident.

Heath Lodge is a new care home and has been designed to a very good standard with lots of facilities for the residents. Over the last few months with extra staff added the improvement has been very evident. The management and staff go above and beyond the call of duty to look after every one and they
appear to have a great knowledge of every resident. Having both my uncle and aunt at the home has been very challenging for our family and the home. My uncle has dementia and lung cancer and they have really taken care of him including recognising when a stay in hospital was needed. They have tried to work with my aunt for many months trying to get her settled but sadly it was agreed that Heath Lodge was not right for her due to her mental capacity problems. After having my aunt assessed at the hospital it was noted by the professionals that they were amazed at how long she had stayed at the home, this only goes to show how empathetic and caring they have been towards my aunt.

A relative went for respite care here and in less than 24 hours sustained 2 unwitnessed falls banging his head and sustaining a deep gash on his hand. We ended up in A and E for 11 hours. Whilst this care home advertises for dementia I would stress that they do not have the trained staff to deal with
anything other than mild dementia. This relative should have received more supervision. Also, an assessment was carried out on the telephone without having seen this relative prior to him going there. Heath Lodge looks very nice and is all brand new but I would question the care. In the end, they said they couldn’t meet his needs and refunded the fees.
Reply from Joanna Roberts, Operations Director at Heath Lodge Care HomeI am sorry to hear that you are frustrated with the level of service you feel your relative received at Heath Lodge Care home. A detailed preadmission assessment was completed and your relative visited for lunch prior to the admission. Unfortunately, there are times when a person’s needs can change rapidly, and this was the case during your relative’s admission. We have a duty of care to ensure our team can look after people safely and there are times that needs can become too great. In this case, it would have been to the detriment to the resident if they continued to reside within this setting. I wish you well in finding a suitable care home to meet your relative’s needs.

This is a relatively new home with very good hotel-quality design and exceptional impact. The staff levels have been increasing as the resident numbers increase and it has a happy and friendly feel to it. Management and staff are willing to go the extra mile to help with additional care when it is needed
and enjoy being involved in activities and entertainment. This is very reassuring and much appreciated. This has also improved significantly as more staff have been appointed. Some personal things that we might take for granted as their children - like the ability to have a regular bath, chiropody, nails painted and weekly hairdressing have been particularly appreciated. The Heath Lodge team should feel proud of what they have achieved and what they do for a living. Keep it up!

My mother became a resident at Heath Lodge at the beginning of June this year. It is a very hard decision for a daughter to take regarding her mother's future and ongoing care, however, I knew I had made the right decision for her to live at Heath Lodge from the moment we arrived. There was a warm
welcome as soon as we stepped through the front door and that warmth and genuine kindness from all of the staff is always in evidence. I spend a lot of happy times visiting my mother and chatting with other residents during these visits, sometimes accompanied by my Border Collie, residents and staff alike have become our extended family and for that, I am hugely appreciative.

I couldn't be happier with the care my wife receives. The home is beautifully designed and furnished to a very high standard, more like a hotel than a care home. The managers are enthusiastic and approachable. The carers, the kitchen, domestic and maintenance staff are all excellent, very caring and
compassionate, with time to talk to residents and visitors.
The meals are varied and a choice is offered with wine if the resident wants it, and drinks and snacks are freely available all day.
Important things like hairdressing, chiropody and nail varnishing all help to maintain the dignity of the residents.
There is a wide range of activities, and in addition, there is a cinema for films, some TV programmes and a morning service from the Parish Church is screened on Sunday mornings.
Visitors are free to visit at any time and are welcome to stay for meals at no extra charge, and there are two 'garden rooms' on the ground floor where visits can take place in private if that is wanted.

it is a brand new home so you would expect everything to be on point. My mothers a resident on respite care, she has been resident for two weeks. All the staff have shown themselves to be professional, courteous and empathetic. Not only to residents but those related and visiting as well.
Carers have
been very quick at picking up the inevitable issues relating to the elderly and dementia-suffering residents. Early days, but overall excellent so far. Thank you.
