My in-laws moved into Cayton View a few weeks ago, and we could not be happier. The home is light and airy and clean, with a lovely welcoming and relaxing feel. We like the fact that there are different seating areas to choose between, and the food so far has been very good. The staff are amazing, and
have gone out of their way to make them feel welcome and settled. A huge thank you to the whole team.

Both my parents were welcomed into Cayton View and were made to feel at home, whilst it was difficult for them at first the beautiful accommodation and fantastically caring staff made the transistion from their previous house easier. The carers have all maximised my parents independence and accommodated
their whims. The home itself is spotlessly clean and well laid out. Daily entertainment is well planned and appreciated. The food is excellent. All in all we are very pleased and feel that they are in a safe place and what's more, so do they.

Dad was a resident at Harcourt Gardens Care Home in Harrogate from December 2025 until May 2026. He was extremely happy there and only left due to his increasing care needs. The staff are lovely and very caring. Dad particularly liked the food which is always of a very high standard. Thanks to all the
staff for all they did for him.

Harcourt Gardens needs a fair but fearless manager. Until this happens I would not recommend Harcourt to anyone. 7 managers in four years and a warning to anyone considering Harcourt for their friend or relative - Please make sure you provide plenty of clothes as they often go missing or end up being
worn by someone else. Far too many agency staff.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Harcourt GardensThank you for taking the time to provide feedback about Harcourt Gardens.

We are saddened to hear that your experience has not been a positive one. At Care UK we are always open to feedback whether that be positive or constructive to allow for improvement.
We understand a relatives meeting was held on 21st April 2026 by the Home Manager where your concerns were addressed and all were advised on the action that would take place to improve the laundry service.
Please be assured that the Home Manager has extensive experience and will be focusing on eradicating the use of Agency within the home unless absolutely necessary.

Please be assured that should you wish to discuss your concerns further; the Home Manager will be happy to do so.

Again, thank you for your feedback.

Since moving into The Mayfield Care Home last year my father has been treated kindly and welcomed, despite the loss of independence being very difficult. He is now end of life, I have stayed with dad 24/7. I would like to say how extremely impressed I am with the exemplary care received to himself and
how the staff have looked after me. He has been given dignity and respect, excellent communication from the staff. They have all been welcoming and supportive at this dreadful time. The carers are shining stars.

We’re delighted to hear that your brother is settling in well and that you have been pleased with the care and support he has received during his stay. Our team works incredibly hard to create a warm, welcoming environment for both residents and their families, so it’s wonderful to know that this has come across during your visits. It’s also lovely to hear your feedback about the team taking time to offer you a drink and make you feel welcome, we know how important those small touches can be, especially after a long day at work.
I will be sure to share your kind words with everyone across the home, including our care team, housekeeping, reception, kitchen, activities, and management. They will all be very pleased to know their efforts are appreciated. Thank you again for your support and for trusting us with your brother’s care.

My mother moved into The Mayfield Care Home, initially for two weeks trial, she quickly settled in, the homes welcoming, caring, first class facilities helped her decide to become a permanent resident. As a retired senior nurse I am particularly impressed with individualised care & support given, first
class food and cleanliness, reflecting amazing team work.

I was dreading when my mum eventually had to go into a care home because you never heard good reports. But I can safely say this is a wonderful home. All the staff are so caring, professional and great at what they do. Each resident is treated with the utmost love and care and everyone is so genuine.

Mum first visited Cayton View in Sept 2025. She decided she wanted to move in, so we put her bungalow up for sale. Everything went smoothly. We visited several times, and the staff have been wonderful. Mum moved in permanently on Jan 5th 2026. She loves it. She loves the food and the staff, and her
room is beautiful. We stayed for lunch, and the food was excellent. The only downside is that she doesn't have a phone in her room, but staff are happy for people to ring the main phone, and they will bring it to her.

Having to place my Mother in assisted living was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. Faced with the task of flying across the world, moving my mother from hospital to assisted living, making her new room comfortable and safe for her, removing her remaining possessions from her house,
selling her estate, selling her house was daunting to say the least.

With that on my plate, the professional staff at the Chocolate Works made tasks 1 and 2 as easy as possible for both myself and my mother.

Since she has moved into the assisted living facility, I am continually amazed by how everything is provided for my mother. You would like fruit on your breakfast? Done. streaming services wont log in? Done. Pictures need hanging? Done.

Simply said, they make everything easier for both myself, and more importantly, my mother. The peace of mind I get from the staff's professionalism and care is without comparison.

Reply from David Donnell, Reviews Team at Chocolate WorksThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review.
We recognise just how overwhelming and emotional it can be to support a loved one through such a significant life transition, particularly when you are doing so from across the world. To hear that our team was able to ease that burden for both you and your mother truly means a great deal to us.
Our aim is always to provide not just care, but reassurance, dignity, and peace of mind — from the big moments to the small, everyday things that make a place feel like home. Knowing that these gestures have made a real difference for your mother, and for you, is incredibly rewarding for our whole team.
Thank you for trusting us during such an important time. Your kind words will be shared with the team, who will take great pride in knowing the impact of their care and professionalism.
With warmest regards,

Mum went to the Chocolate Works with dementia and related anxiety, particularly associated with sundowning. Over 4 weeks she's been there, her anxiety and confusion have diminished largely because of the outstanding care and support of all the staff at Chocolate Works. The facilities are excellent,
there are a great choice of activities available and a very calming environment. Nothing is too much trouble, and we're always made to feel welcome when visiting.

Supporting people living with dementia, particularly around sundowning, is something our team takes great care with, so it means a great deal to know the calm environment and consistent support have made such a positive difference.

Yesterday (12th January 2026) my husband and I went to visit our ex neighbour and friend of almost 40 years. Sadly her dementia had made it necessary for her to move onto the specific floor for her needs. We have never visited her here, only when she was in her own home. We arrived unannounced at
lunchtime and joined our friend in the dining area. We were warmly welcomed by staff and our friend recognised us and it was quite emotional initially. The staff were so friendly and courteous and we were so very impressed with her care and surroundings. I have told our family we would quite happily move in here if and when the need arises. It is beyond superb.
Reply from David Donnell, Reviews Team at Chocolate WorksDear Beatrice,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. We're truly grateful for your kind words and for trusting us with such a meaningful visit.
We understand how emotional these moments can be, especially when dementia changes circumstances so profoundly, and we're delighted to hear that you and your husband felt warmly welcomed and reassured by our team. Knowing that your friend recognised you and that you were able to share that moment together is incredibly special.
Your comments about the care, staff, and environment mean a great deal to us, and we'll be sure to share your feedback with the team, who work tirelessly to provide compassionate, person-centred care every day.
Thank you again for your lovely words and recommendation. They truly mean more than you know.

My Mum came to Harcourt after a fall and broken hip. The team of carers and the nurse have been excellent. They care about the residents, not just for them. They have taken time to get to know my mum and what she needs. I visit almost everyday and the care is consistent each time. I moved my dad in
after 4 months and because he had visited and knew the care teams and they had made him welcome and were friendly and supportive he was happy to come here. It made a very difficult decision for me as a daughter much easier. The support teams are also fabulous and as my mum is bed bound, wellbeing and housekeeping teams popping in to chat is also appreciated. When the bistro is back to fully manned and you can eat there again with your family member and visitors the review will be 5 stars. Wendy

We moved mum and dad into Harcourt in early September 2025. Mum needed palliative nursing care and dad was showing early signs of cognitive decline. Harcourt was able to accommodate both their requirements which was important as they had been together for 70 years and separation was unthinkable. Mum,
unfortunately passed away after only a few weeks in the home. However, the care and support she received during this period was exemplary - she was always treated with respect, compassion, tenderness and genuine affection. Absolutely nothing was too much for any of the members of staff to do - both for mum and for me and my family. The on-boarding process was complex but was managed very effectively and with great respect - several members of staff went above and beyond any reasonable expectations to accelerate the process so we could move mum and dad at very similar times.

My mother has been in Harcourt Gardens for just over 12 months. She is now 96 but is lucky to have most of her marbles and no severe physical ailments. Her only complaint is that the home is full of old people!

We are very happy with the care she is receiving, the social activities and proximity to

the Bistro, which is the jewel in the crown for Harcourt.

Harcourt has a core group of long-standing carers and entertainment specialists , who are hugely appreciated by residents .

The home has a new manager who is now meeting relatives for one-on- one meetings.I came away from my meeting feeling optimistic.

There has been a small cabal of relatives and friends who have attacked the manager on social media even before she started.I think my family and probably many other relatives of residents find this outrageous bearing in mind this is a top class home with great support for the needs of residents.

Ignore the comments of these entitled/ ignorant folks.Harcourt is outstanding.

Jill has lived quite happily in the care of Harcourt Gardens now for 3 years. It is the staff who are the stars of the show, and this was exemplified this summer when we requested special assistance for two family events. Two lovely carers accompanied Jill for 2 nights to celebrate her granddaughter's
wedding in Suffolk and then again to attend her husband's funeral in Norfolk. On both occasions, the staff were professional and discreet, always ensuring that Kill was comfortable and well cared for. All the family commented on how lovely they were to have at both events and how easy they made it for Jill.

From my initial phone enquiry regarding respite/rehab for my mum, the whole experience has been outstanding. Mum was warmly welcomed into a homely/friendly environment and all the staff are so helpful. Mum's room is beautiful, as is everywhere in Cayton View. Mum has lost her appetite so hasn't fully
benefitted from the meals on offer. I can personally say all the baking is delicious! I might book in myself!
