Chocolate Works

Sadly after my father had been here 3 years we had to move him for his care and wellbeing . The home has gone down hill massively since care uk took over. Management take no responsibility blaming all issues on their staff and agency. In 3 years he didn't build a relationship with any staff and wanted to leave, he said he was lonely and in prison. He gave up , the home said it was his dementia , but 8 weeks in new home he is joining in activities , happy and importantly is always showered , clean shaved . His clothes and property are now cared for not destroyed in washing or lost. In a recent complaint letter I recieved 9 sorry that they fell below standards and they still want the notice period money for when he had already left. Not 1 member of staff said goodbye !!!

The building is attractive, with period features and complementary additions. There seem to be meaningful efforts to support independence and joy for residents through communal facilities. My Nan stayed in 2nd floor nursing care, where there were several lounges and a roof terrace - handy for visiting. She mainly ate out so can't comment on food. There was a high standard of cleanliness/housekeeping and my Nan was even gifted a bottle of her favourite Bailey's on arrival. Thanks to all the team for their warm support!

I'm a long term resident at Chocolate Works and really enjoy it! The team are friendly, caring and attentive to the home.

Well what can I say about the chocolate works care home other than what an amazing place. My brother is a resident here for a few weeks , the care he receives is outstanding. The staff are always helpful and always have time for you. The staff always offer me a drink when I visit which is nice when you have just come from work. They always have a smile on their faces even when they are busy, it really is a fantastic place. My brother has a lovely big room with onsuite. The choice of food is excellent to . I would like to thank everyone who is involved with my brothers care and support you all truly do a fantastic job. Management, reception, cleaners , carers, cooks activities staff thank you all x.

Having to place my Mother in assisted living was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. Faced with the task of flying across the world, moving my mother from hospital to assisted living, making her new room comfortable and safe for her, removing her remaining possessions from her house, selling her estate, selling her house was daunting to say the least.

With that on my plate, the professional staff at the Chocolate Works made tasks 1 and 2 as easy as possible for both myself and my mother.

Since she has moved into the assisted living facility, I am continually amazed by how everything is provided for my mother. You would like fruit on your breakfast? Done. streaming services wont log in? Done. Pictures need hanging? Done.

Simply said, they make everything easier for both myself, and more importantly, my mother. The peace of mind I get from the staff's professionalism and care is without comparison.

Mum went to the Chocolate Works with dementia and related anxiety, particularly associated with sundowning. Over 4 weeks she's been there, her anxiety and confusion have diminished largely because of the outstanding care and support of all the staff at Chocolate Works. The facilities are excellent, there are a great choice of activities available and a very calming environment. Nothing is too much trouble, and we're always made to feel welcome when visiting.

Yesterday (12th January 2026) my husband and I went to visit our ex neighbour and friend of almost 40 years. Sadly her dementia had made it necessary for her to move onto the specific floor for her needs. We have never visited her here, only when she was in her own home. We arrived unannounced at lunchtime and joined our friend in the dining area. We were warmly welcomed by staff and our friend recognised us and it was quite emotional initially. The staff were so friendly and courteous and we were so very impressed with her care and surroundings. I have told our family we would quite happily move in here if and when the need arises. It is beyond superb.

Our 7 day stay was for rest & recuperation following a fall by my wife; both were in need, our main need was to have medicines promptly & timely (excellently achieved). The room was large well furnished & comfortable - although mattress somewhat saggy. The only down side was the food. Always promptly served with great care but somewhat bland in variety & size. Major plus - the staff who were happy, well trained & eager to help. Always V. courteous. Their help made our stay. When we left we both felt we had received the benefit we sought.

The Chocolate Works is a very relaxing and comfortable place to be in. The staff are very caring and patient with residents. They keep the rooms clean and tidy. I feel confident that my sister in law is being well cared for.

From when we first met her in Feb 2025 when my auntie came to reside at the Chocolate Works. Sorry she is leaving, she will progress & excel at her chosen work. She is an exceptional female.

One member of staff goes above and beyond to help wtih our queries and questions. They are always happy in our interactions, giving advice when sought and is always kind and helpful when talking to Aunty. Kindness goes a long way and a smile - this member of staff has been a ray of shunshine at what has been a difficult time for our family - settling my aunt into a whole new life. We thank you and wish you every happiness & success going forward.

The team at The Chocolate Works Care Village have gone above and beyond to help my in-laws settle in. From day one, they have shown genuine care, always putting my in-laws' wellbeing first while also being incredibly thoughtful and supportive towards us as a family. The staff strike a rare balance - professional yet warm, attentive yet respectful - and that's made all the difference during what could have been a difficult transition. We feel reassured knowing our loved ones are in such kind and capable hands.

Everyone is lovely and caring, we are very pleased.

An impressive imposing structure converted from a former chocolate factory. Accommodation of a very high standard with spacious dining area, lounge and bedrooms supported by appropriate facilities. Staff well trained in house, cope with specific problems and demonstrate a high level of empathy with residents. Be assured residents in very safe hands.

I know she could not get better quality of care and emotional support. It is a huge comfort to me - and to us both - to know she is in a care home that is so wonderful.

Reception, Management, Nursing, Caterers and Carers became my mother's second family. We were grateful that she was happy and secure there.

I would just like to thank all the staff of Choc Works for the devotion and love given to my aunt over the years she was residential in the home. We visited as often as we could from Cardiff South Wales. Every time we visited it was lovely to see the beautiful homes and their amazing staircase and everything was so clean and sparkled. The staff were so helpful happy to chat and very caring to my aunty. It still hasn't really sunk in that she's no longer with us having passed away on 17th July whilst we were on holiday. R.I.P. We will always love you always!
