Staff are lovely, they are kind & considerate with my mother.

I have no experience of the food but my mother complains at the lack of vegetables. In particular leafy greens. I.e. one sprout per meal

Dad came to Heatherton House after a stroke paralysing his right hand side. He was already classed disabled after a bi-cocklear implant, making his care doubly complex. In his time here, he has benefitted from a caring, efficient team, particularly the manager, 1 head nurse, an activities co-ordinator who has facilitated over and above the call of duty! It is noticeable that he is more comfortable when 1 shift is on and less so when the personnel changes to the other shift but otherwise he has been given the time to recover somewhat and retain a level of dignity.

In relation to staff, I find them to be friendly, professional, approachable and above all, caring and respectful towards mum.

Mum is always clean, in fresh clothes and her hair tidy, and nails manicured. This is important not only for her, but for me, as she has always presented in this way. Overall, she seems to have settled in well. The home provides various activities which mum has started to join in and enjoy. It appears to be a stimulating environment for her.

Review of Samuel House from Jonathan H (Son of Resident) published on 28 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Mum came to Samuel House initially for respite due to deteriorating condition.
The home itself is beautiful, location is perfect, scenic views of the lake, amazing sunset views. Secure grounds, plenty of space for residents to walk around safely. Home is always neat and tidy. Residents Rooms are lovely and always clean.
All staff at the home have been amazing throughout mum's stay. Caring, understanding, attentive. Communications to myself regularly on how mum is getting along, any changes or concerns escalated quickly, staff already have steps in place or give clear options.
Mum is eating more whilst being around other people, laughing and joking again, steadily getting back to herself. Onsite hairdressers and nails, feet, doctor visits.

Plenty of activities daily. I'm super pleased with mum's care at Samuel. Mum is so much healthier and happier too.

We are so grateful for the care and kindness shown to our great auntie Ann. The staff are always warm, patient, and genuinely caring, and it gives us real peace of mind knowing she is being looked after so well. The home is welcoming, clean, and has such a lovely atmosphere. Nothing ever seems too much trouble, and the compassion shown to both residents and families really stands out. Thank you for everything you do for Ann - it means more than words can say.

My Mum went in for a weeks respite for the very first time at the end of March. This was an anxious time for us both however Nicky and all the lovely carers took great care of Mum. Mum even made new friends which was great for her. Unfortunately had to fund this myself due to an administrative issue which is being sorted however it was worth every penny as I was recommended and knew she would be very safe and looked after which she was. Mum will definitely be coming back and I would like to thank all involved for making her stay very easy and for the care given.

Mum went into the care home at the end of January. All the staff are very caring towards mum. It always seems clean and tidy, and all meals are cooked on site. They meet all of Mum's requirements. Mum cannot do anything for herself at the moment.

I've been really impressed with the home and the care that they are giving to my father. The staff there are wonderful and very attentive to the care and needs of the residents. A special mention for the food as well. It's all homemade, and it's important for older people to have good, wholesome food. Wonderful homemade cake too! All in all, a fantastic care home. Review of Mount Pleasant Care Home from Suzanne H (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 February 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My mum has been a resident at Mount Pleasant for the last eighteen months, during which time she has thrived and has a wonderful quality of life. She is looked after so well and adores all the staff. She enjoys the activities, especially spending time with the children from the local nursery and the Christmas Party. Any medical issues are dealt with promptly, as are any personal issues, and it is always evident how much the staff care for her and show respect, dignity and affection at all times. It is very reassuring to know she is safe and looked after to the highest standard.

Lovely home and wonderful people that were welcoming from the very first contact made. Mum is very happy here and all of the care team now feel like mum's extended family. It was a very happy experience for me. I come from 3 weeks in 2 hospitals (in Portugal, private and here). I was greeted with warmth and shown to a beautiful room, which was to be my home for 2 weeks of recuperation. Staff come to mark my clothes and others to take me on a tour. Everywhere was beautiful and staff so friendly. I felt at home. Food was tasty (too much), and I put on weight. I was sorry to leave, but will be in again if I need to. Would recommend.
