Parker Meadows

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I couldn't have wished for my husband (and myself) to be better cared for during his 8 month stay in nursing care at Parker Meadows. We were both welcomed into the Family and enabled to enjoy his last months to make special memories together. During his last few days he was made comfortable and treated
with such kindness. I was especially touched over the last couple of days when the care staff going off shift popped in to spend a little time with him. This is care from people who really do get to know the individuals they look after and become like family.

Ancasta Grove

from Julia S (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 October 2025
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
Once my mother was unable to get out of bed safely, she was not generally included in many of the activities that are provided to other occupants. She was in her room alone for most of the day with little or no stimulation or communication with others. I had tried to encourage staff to take her out
of the room in a wheel chair but generally they were too busy or not interested. As a result, I don't think she was happy there and sadly this contributed to her relatively rapid decline in mental and physical health over the 7 months she was there, until her death in August. This was a shame as overall it is a friendly and positive place to be, with some lovely staff.

Main areas of concern while my mother was a resident were:
The majority of the care staff (especially at weekends) were young men from a different ethnic background to my mother; unfortunately, I expect this would have caused some additional stress for my mother. I think this should have been mentioned when viewing the home before my mother moved.
In addition, communication with local surgery and the district nurse was disappointing with several issues e.g. hearing aid, urinary infection medication, taking weeks, or never resolved

For someone relatively mobile without dementia I'm sure they would have a more positive experience.
This is why I have given mixed ratings, although I have no experience of other care homes to compare with.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Sway Place is a care home which offers its residents a very caring attitude together with tranquility, kindness, an upbeat attitude and happiness throughout the whole team. From the moment you enter the location you are met with a feeling of being well and truly looked after in every sense of the word.
I cannot find fault with anything and although my friend is merely there for a respite duration he was made so very welcome not only by the staff but additionally by the other kind and hospitable residents already in situ. His room is comfortable, very warm, immaculately clean and cosy and I am happy he is there to recuperate. There are many things for him to enjoy throughout the day should he so wish or he can be totally at peace in his room which is a delightful balance. I would highly recommend Sway Place for its location, overall ambience, quality and service provided it truly is a luxury home away from home.

Dashwood Manor

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father spent the last few years of his life in Dashwood and as a family we all felt he was safe, secure and cared for. He was a fussy eater but through the imagination and skill of the kitchen staff he enjoyed a varied diet of well-cooked and served meals. He was always wearing clean clothes, and
his room and bathroom were always clean and tidy. The lifestyle team organise a vast range of activities both on and off site. Whenever we visited, we were always met with a warm friendly smile and greeting from all staff.
Dashwood has a fantastic team of committed, caring and empathetic staff, who all go the extra mile for the residents, giving them as much independence and dignity as possible. Moreover, as a family we felt supported when we visited.

Pear Tree Court

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
From the very first day when I contacted Pear Tree Court to enquire about availability at the Care Home I knew Mum was going to be happy here. Pear Tree Court offers everything anyone could require - from excellent care, entertainment, activities, food and good company, whether that be from the other
residents or a chat with staff members. The Home itself is spotlessly clean and Mum was encouraged to bring any home comforts with her. Mum loves the garden and enjoys a wander round it to see the flowerbeds and sit and have a coffee outside while the weather is still good. She also loves seeing the children at Baby and Toddler Group which is held fortnightly to encourage interaction between residents and families. Mum was struggling to manage her own home and her failing eyesight hindered her mobility, and when we first brought Mum to have a look round Pear Tree Court her words were "I should have done this years ago!".

Sway Place is an excellent care home for the needs of my brother and the memory care floor. He has always been treated with respect and dignity by kind, caring and professional staff. As his condition has significantly deteriorated over the last eight months being challenging at times his care has been
exceptional. The staff provide kind understanding care at all times. The staff always provide incredible support to us. Keeping us informed. It is very comforting to know he in such safe hands.

Mum has been at Dashwood for two and a half years with Dementia/Alzheimers and she could not be in a better place. As a former Mayor of Basingstoke, I had the honor to visit many Care facilities in and around the town and can honestly say Dashwood Manor was number 1. When Mum needed to move to into
Care, we placed her in Dashwood for Respite for a month and she expressed her wish to stay. The care provided at in all respects is second to none, the families of Residents are warmly welcomed at all times as part of the Dashwood 'family' and the family events are wonderful. Mum could not be in a better place to cater for all her needs by very caring staff at all levels.

Mum has been at Dashwood Manor for 3 years and is settled and happy. As a family, we know that when we are not around that she is cared for and well loved. The home has a warm and cosy vibe and is well maintained to high standards. They have a variety of different events for the residents daily and
are encouraged to join in, they have plenty of outside entertainment, which is popular. This care home even puts on evening events for families eg Fish & Chips and a Quiz Night and Curry and Bingo, so that relatives can get to know one another and can chat to each other about their shared experiencies, when they see each other on other ocassions. All the staff are friendly and ready to help or listen at anytime, they join in with the activities so that both residents and families know them well - nothing is too much. I can spend time with own family too, knowing that mum is happy.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum has been at Pear Tree just over two weeks and the change in her is incredible.
Despite a lot of care visits at home my mum was still struggling, since being at Pear Tree she is doing so much better, she is now getting dressed each day, eating and drinking the lovely food and joining in lots
of the activities on offer.
The staff are wonderful and with lots of encouragement mum is now enjoying life in a way that is suitable for her situation, seeing the smile and little grins on her face again is so heart warming.
It was a very tough decision as a family to make this move into care for mum a very emotional journey for us, the staff have understood this and been very supportive to the family as we navigated this process. The support we have had during the visits to choose this home and since mum has been a resident has been fantastic. Thank you Pear Tree

My sister chose Parker Meadows above others that she had seen in Portsmouth and Fareham. she was impressed with the beautiful surroundings, the welcoming café with its coffee machine and home-made cakes, the activities organised every day and her beautiful bedroom with en-suite . She thought the staff
were amazing, kind and helpful. As my sister deteriorated with her vascular dementia. the staff were professional, patient and kind with her. The staff informed me with every aspect of my sister's care and if ever there was a problem. My sister could not have been happier. I thank them all so much for all they did for my sister.
