Since Mum moved into Ancatsa Grove in August 2025, we have been made to feel part of a really caring community. From the initial meeting to mum moving in, the staff have been so friendly and caring both towards mum and us as a family. The facilities, rooms, food and drink are all of an excellent standard.
There have been so many lovely activities during December. I am so glad mum has become part of Ancasta Grove.

My mother-in-law moved into AG at the end of April 2025 with jaw and mouth cancer. The staff, facilities, activities and ethos are simply superb. The quality of nursing and the links with outside agencies such as palliative care and the local doctors' surgery are fantastic. Issues such as the special
menu provided (pureed) have helped enormously in keeping spirits up. Very important, in understandably difficult circumstances, has been the care and support for my wife and I, as we have visited daily. The carers and nurses know my mother-in-law and my wife and I by name; my mother-in-law looks upon the staff as her friends! Communication has been excellent throughout, with the reception team being pivotal in establishing and maintaining the wonderful ethos.

My mother is very settled in Ancasta Grove. Her room is bright with garden access, which she enjoys. The home is very clean and tidy and maintained to a high standard. The staff are very friendly and go above and beyond. They work very hard to make residents included. The manager is a great influence
on the staff, helping them achieve such high standards.

I have found Ancasta Grove to be a warm, welcoming home. Although I have not experience any other homes for my wife, this being my fortuitous choice, I can not imagine better.
The staff seem imbued with happy dispositions, always greeting us with a smile and a how are you. The grouping of the residents
on different floors seems to be done with care. The ground floor cafe providing a place where interaction can take place.

Mum was nervous about moving into a care home as she had been totally independent before circumstances changed and she needed to be in a environment where she was comfortable and looked after but still able to be a little independent.
Bourley Grange have been wonderful, within a week of mum moving
in she was so happy and enjoying herself. Mums just celebrated her 97th birthday and she was made to feel special, with an absolutely beautiful cake.
Day to day activities and outings are always fun. Food is always great and visitors are always welcome to join mum for lunch.
I can see how much mum is enjoying her new home and we are happy that we made the right choice with choosing Bourley Grange.

When I arrived at Ancasta Grove I was greeted by a lovely receptionist , the place was inviting and very clean.
Lovely decorated for Christmas and staff looked happy and even though they looked busy they stopped to chat.
I took my friend round the garden which is absolutely beautiful even at this
time of year.

Dashwood Manor

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father was very anxious and unsure of what 'carehome' living would be like so he initially arranged a three week respite. He arrived nervous and emotional about the experience, being widowed this year this was a huge step change for him. From the moment he arrived the Dashwood team greated him with
a friendly smile and treated him as part of their family. Being kind, respectful of his needs, supportive and also encouraging- within a short time dad was quietly socialising, joining in activities, chatting to other residents- and eating really well - and most important is smiling and feels settled.
Reply from Leahanne Wilkinson, Reviews Team at Dashwood ManorThank you so much for sharing these kind words. We know how big a step it can be to come into a care home, especially after such a difficult year, and we're truly touched that your father chose to move to Dashwood Manor.
From the moment he arrived, it was important to us that he felt welcomed, safe and cared for. Seeing him gradually relax, start chatting with others, join in activities, enjoy his meals, and most importantly, begin to smile again has been lovely for the whole team. We're so glad he's feeling more settled, and we truly appreciate your trust in us. Please know that we're always here to support him in any way he needs.
Thank you from the whole Team at Dashwood Manor.

After 2 years in Carpathia Grange my Mum has just passed away. Mum increasingly suffered with dementia during this period and I cannot praise sufficiently the staff at Carpathia Grange for their patience and support in her decline. I saw genuine care, concern and dignity from all of the team who had
clearly built meaningful relationships with her. Carpathia Grange made every effort to meet both our expectations and Mums needs whilst she was in their care and her end of life experience was a gentle as these things can be.
The whole team from management, clinical, maintenance, catering, house keeping at Carpathia are excellent, motivated, caring, professionals who will give your family member a positive experience when they need support in later life. I would like to thank all of you.

Mum came to Dashwood middle of September, the first few days she seemed unsettled but by the second week so relaxed and happy interacting with the outstanding attention and care given by all the staff and happy with the other residents.
When I arrive to visit all the staff and management warmly greet
me and update me on mum's health and activities which she enjoys joining in with, which wasn't the case prior to her coming.

Thank you so much for sharing such a heart-warming message. It truly means the world to us. We know that moving into a new home can feel like a big step, so it's wonderful to hear that after those first few days, your mum settled in beautifully and is now relaxed, happy, and shining in her new surroundings.
Seeing her chatting with other residents, joining in activities, and enjoying her days truly brings a sparkle to the whole team. Your kind words about our staff mean so much, they care deeply for every resident, and knowing that your mum feels safe, supported, and uplifted is exactly what we hope for.
We're also delighted that you feel warmly welcomed each time you visit. Being able to greet you, share updates, and celebrate your mum's little daily moments is something we genuinely value.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
From the initial visit to Pear Tree Court, everything felt just right for my father's needs. The Management are extremely knowledgeable and efficient, and their staff are diligent, friendly, and always willing to help. The space is clean, bright and cheery and there's an airy environment throughout.
The Café, located near Reception, offers a pleasant spot to relax with your loved ones and overlooks the lovely courtyard garden. There are also many daily activities should the residents wish to participate. At the time of my father's admission, we were unsure how long his stay might be for, and it was of great comfort to learn that should he require additional nursing needs then this could be available to him at Pear Tree Court. It takes time for the care staff to get to know their residents, however they have been really wonderful, and my father has settled in very well.

My mum has been at Bourley Grange for nearly 3 years and it does not have the usual care home feel. This is a warm welcoming community. Every member of staff is engaged in giving afirst class service. The environment is like a hotel, the food is amazing, the nursing and care staff are always kind and
professional. There is always some activities taking place and trips out in the bus
I asked my mum last week if she was happy and she said "very happy" what more can you ask for.

I couldn't have wished for my husband (and myself) to be better cared for during his 8 month stay in nursing care at Parker Meadows. We were both welcomed into the Family and enabled to enjoy his last months to make special memories together. During his last few days he was made comfortable and treated
with such kindness. I was especially touched over the last couple of days when the care staff going off shift popped in to spend a little time with him. This is care from people who really do get to know the individuals they look after and become like family.

Ancasta Grove

from Julia S (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 October 2025
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
Once my mother was unable to get out of bed safely, she was not generally included in many of the activities that are provided to other occupants. She was in her room alone for most of the day with little or no stimulation or communication with others. I had tried to encourage staff to take her out
of the room in a wheel chair but generally they were too busy or not interested. As a result, I don't think she was happy there and sadly this contributed to her relatively rapid decline in mental and physical health over the 7 months she was there, until her death in August. This was a shame as overall it is a friendly and positive place to be, with some lovely staff.

Main areas of concern while my mother was a resident were:
The majority of the care staff (especially at weekends) were young men from a different ethnic background to my mother; unfortunately, I expect this would have caused some additional stress for my mother. I think this should have been mentioned when viewing the home before my mother moved.
In addition, communication with local surgery and the district nurse was disappointing with several issues e.g. hearing aid, urinary infection medication, taking weeks, or never resolved

For someone relatively mobile without dementia I'm sure they would have a more positive experience.
This is why I have given mixed ratings, although I have no experience of other care homes to compare with.

Sway Place is a care home which offers its residents a very caring attitude together with tranquility, kindness, an upbeat attitude and happiness throughout the whole team. From the moment you enter the location you are met with a feeling of being well and truly looked after in every sense of the word.
I cannot find fault with anything and although my friend is merely there for a respite duration he was made so very welcome not only by the staff but additionally by the other kind and hospitable residents already in situ. His room is comfortable, very warm, immaculately clean and cosy and I am happy he is there to recuperate. There are many things for him to enjoy throughout the day should he so wish or he can be totally at peace in his room which is a delightful balance. I would highly recommend Sway Place for its location, overall ambience, quality and service provided it truly is a luxury home away from home.

Dashwood Manor

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father spent the last few years of his life in Dashwood and as a family we all felt he was safe, secure and cared for. He was a fussy eater but through the imagination and skill of the kitchen staff he enjoyed a varied diet of well-cooked and served meals. He was always wearing clean clothes, and
his room and bathroom were always clean and tidy. The lifestyle team organise a vast range of activities both on and off site. Whenever we visited, we were always met with a warm friendly smile and greeting from all staff.
Dashwood has a fantastic team of committed, caring and empathetic staff, who all go the extra mile for the residents, giving them as much independence and dignity as possible. Moreover, as a family we felt supported when we visited.
