My mother was a resident in Pear Tree Court for over 6 years. She started on the dementia floor when her journey was in its earlier stages. During this time she was encouraged to remain active and supported in what she believed were her daily cleaning and organising activities. The staff were patient
and understanding even when Mum was confused as to which was her room and would often be found in the wrong room. As her dementia progressed and her health deteriorated she moved to the nursing floor where she received excellent care and support. Whilst the facilities in the home are excellent, from our experience the calibre of the staff is key to the quality of the care home. Almost without exception the staff were brilliant and were clearly dedicated to providing a level of support and care that family are not able to provide. Mum was always treated with dignity & kindness, and was very fond of a number of staff members who had been at Pear Tree for the vast majority of her stay

I am grateful for the care my husband received while he was in residence and living with dementia.
The staff really are adept at keeping their residents amused and entertained, and although my husband kept to himself, he was still able to interact with them. He seemed happy and relaxed, he seemed to
enjoy his time there.

From the moment Dad moved in, the care and support from everyone at the home has been exceptional. The staff are warm, responsive, and genuinely caring, which gives our family enormous reassurance.

One of the things I appreciate most is the daily communication. We regularly receive photos of the activities

Dad has been joining in with, which is incredibly comforting and makes us feel connected to his day-to-day life. The weekly emails outlining the upcoming activities are also a lovely touch and show how much thought goes into keeping residents engaged.

Management and staff are always informative, approachable, and very hands-on. It's clear that there is a strong culture of care and attention throughout the home.

Dad is often taken out in the minibus for trips to garden centres and coffee shops, which he really enjoys, and it's wonderful to know he is still getting out and about. The food offering is also excellent and clearly prepared with care.

Overall, I feel genuinely comforted

It was rewarding to know my grandparents were being looked after to high standard and all staff were friendly and the activities done daily by the team were amazing.
My Grandparents were always happy when we visited and the coffee shop was a plus for family members to beable to meet and have a nice
catch up over Tea & cake.

In December 2025 after living at Pear Tree Court for one year, my mum had a stroke. When she was discharged from hospital, the nursing and care teams worked hard to understand the changes in Audrey's abilities and needs. They adapted their approach to Audrey's care so that she could regain most of her
speech, the use of her hands, regain a little mobility and the ability to join in with social activities. We could not have hoped for a better outcome.

Pear Tree Court was a fantastic home for my mum who has just had a 2 week stay for respite. (We have also booked a future stay).
We felt heard right from our first contact and were welcomed in. It really does feel like a big family of love and support where needed. All the staff were great and patient
and it was a relief to know that my mum was safe and well cared for. John deserves a special mention as he is so attentive and caring which makes a difficult decision a little easier. Thank you Pear Tree Court.

From the initial visit to Pear Tree Court, everything felt just right for my father's needs. The Management are extremely knowledgeable and efficient, and their staff are diligent, friendly, and always willing to help. The space is clean, bright and cheery and there's an airy environment throughout.
The Café, located near Reception, offers a pleasant spot to relax with your loved ones and overlooks the lovely courtyard garden. There are also many daily activities should the residents wish to participate. At the time of my father's admission, we were unsure how long his stay might be for, and it was of great comfort to learn that should he require additional nursing needs then this could be available to him at Pear Tree Court. It takes time for the care staff to get to know their residents, however they have been really wonderful, and my father has settled in very well.

From the very first day when I contacted Pear Tree Court to enquire about availability at the Care Home I knew Mum was going to be happy here. Pear Tree Court offers everything anyone could require - from excellent care, entertainment, activities, food and good company, whether that be from the other
residents or a chat with staff members. The Home itself is spotlessly clean and Mum was encouraged to bring any home comforts with her. Mum loves the garden and enjoys a wander round it to see the flowerbeds and sit and have a coffee outside while the weather is still good. She also loves seeing the children at Baby and Toddler Group which is held fortnightly to encourage interaction between residents and families. Mum was struggling to manage her own home and her failing eyesight hindered her mobility, and when we first brought Mum to have a look round Pear Tree Court her words were "I should have done this years ago!".

My mum has been at Pear Tree just over two weeks and the change in her is incredible.
Despite a lot of care visits at home my mum was still struggling, since being at Pear Tree she is doing so much better, she is now getting dressed each day, eating and drinking the lovely food and joining in lots
of the activities on offer.
The staff are wonderful and with lots of encouragement mum is now enjoying life in a way that is suitable for her situation, seeing the smile and little grins on her face again is so heart warming.
It was a very tough decision as a family to make this move into care for mum a very emotional journey for us, the staff have understood this and been very supportive to the family as we navigated this process. The support we have had during the visits to choose this home and since mum has been a resident has been fantastic. Thank you Pear Tree

My mum is beginning to settle in at Pear Tree Court. She has had a really good experience with the carers since she moved in to her new home in early May. For me I am very comfortable with the care she is being given and how the home is dealing with her integration. She has many activities in which
to participate and is beginning to make some friends. She really enjoys the food. I am finally now relaxed about her environment and no longer worried about her living at home alone when her mobility had restricted her quality of life so much.

The introduction process, from one member of staff was also a key reason why we joined Pear Tree. Thanks.

Care home was good and nice environment, good patio in the garden. My room had a good patio door and a nice garden view, it made me feel relaxed and comfortable. Room temperature was perfect.
When I first visited the Care home, the staff gave me a very good introduction and made me feel welcome!
The
food deserts had too much sugar for me because I am diabetic. The food quality was generally good.

The care given to my husband was wonderful, he was in the later stages of Alzheimer's. He was involved in activities that I didn't think he
Would manage but he enjoyed them.
He had a tendency to fall so great care was taken to protect him to avoid injury
My dog and I felt very welcomed in the
nursing home
The GP attended regularly
It meant at the end of his life he was given exceptional care which was a great relief for me

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.732) out of 10 for Pear Tree Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 36 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.732 for Pear Tree Court is calculated as follows: ( (324 Excellents x 5) + (76 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 418 Ratings = 4.732
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pear Tree Court is based on 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 36 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

I’m a qualified Registered General Nurse with 15 years of experience in both NHS hospitals and private care nursing homes. I was keen to join Pear Tree Court because of Care UK’s very good reputation and the development opportunities that are available. I was looking for a service to manage on a long-term basis.

Previously, I was an Interim General Manager and Clinical Quality Assurance Manager for a provider that supports residents with complex care needs. I also have experience working as a turnaround manager, where I supported a nursing home to move from ‘Inadequate’ to ‘Good’ in six months by building an entirely new team. I have a passion for nurturing colleagues, and it makes me proud to see my team shine.

As a Home Manager, I believe it’s important to have a fair but firm approach, a willingness to listen and a supportive and reassuring management style. You need to have an open door for colleagues and compassion for residents. Supporting my team to ensure excellent care is provided to keep residents and their loved ones safe and happy is the most important part of my role.

My favourite part of being a Home Manager is caring for residents on a long-term basis. This means I have the opportunity to really get to know them and their families and understand how to support them to live fulfilling lives.

When I’m not working, I enjoy taking trips with my family, showing my two daughters different cultures and areas of the world.
