My mum went into Pear Tree in October 2023 on the nursing level. She has adjusted to the move very well. Staff have been very kind and have helped make the move easier. Would highly recommend it; it's a lovely care home with a real homely feel.

I have found the staff at Pear Tree Court to be professional, understanding and empathetic. It's not easy putting a member of your family in a care home, and I have received good support from those involved.
From what I can tell, so far, the food looks good, the nursing attentive, and the management
team are keen to give the best service possible.
There is a great deal of thought given to the environment and the entertainment for residents.

Full staff members do a good job of managing complex needs of residents requiring nursing care, but when agency staff are in, this is less likely to be a good experience. Multiple issues with agency staff regarding general care and respect toward residents. Hygiene issues and procedural issues like
filling in paperwork or observations of residents.

I was reluctant to put my Dad into a care home but our social worker made the recommendation that He should.
I found Pear Tree Court while visiting a nearby home, I fell in love with the place immediately.
I was fully supported by the staff at Peartree during the admission process and I’m delighted
that I chose this wonderful home for my dad’s care.
I’m so pleased with everything we have received in such a short time.

This is my first visit to a care home so it is for me to give an accurate. However, I found my short stay very comforting and caring. The food is excellent. I would still rather try and manage at home with my wife, who knows what the future holds for us? I would definitely recommend Pear Tree Cort.

The facilities in the home are excellent, not only the rooms but also the communal areas and gardens, which are much appreciated by visitors. The staff are always helpful and courteous. However, the meals are variable, with the meat often hard to chew, and it would be nice if dishes such as cottage
pie or sausages were more often on the menu, with gravy. A constant complaint is the discomfort of the bed and the pillows, especially as she spends a larger proportion of the time in bed than she would wish. This also restricts convenient visiting times. We appreciate that the staff have much to do to care for the residents, and my mother often says how hard they work.

At Pear Tree Court Care Home - Care UK, we set a high standard for ourselves, so we are delighted to hear that you have had such a positive experience. We would like to reassure you that we have made some recent changes to mealtime options, ensuring residents' favourite meals are available all year round, and we are regularly asking for feedback to ensure residents are happy with the food choices available to them. Our resident's comfort in the home is of paramount importance to us, and we will continuously monitor and work with the residents to ensure they are comfortable and safe. Please do not hesitate to contact the home manager if you would like to discuss this further in person. Thank you again for your time; we are grateful for your feedback.

My mum was transferred here after a long stay in an Assessment Unit. We have been advised she has end-stage Dementia. We chose Pear Tree Court not only as the home is close to us, but because when we viewed it, it had a homely feel to it. It was not an easy choice to place mum in a care home, but right
from the Manager to the Housekeeping team, they are professional, caring and friendly. The surroundings are well-maintained, the rooms are beautifully furnished and the food is both tasty and well-presented. (All needs are met)
It’s such a shame mum is no longer able to access all the well-thought-out activities available as I am sure she would have loved them.

Dad has now been at Pear Tree Court for 5 months, and in those 5 months, Dad has undergone several medical changes. On every occasion, I have been informed of his progress and condition. The staff I have encountered have, and are, very supportive of my dad and the concerns of the family. No request
seems to be too much trouble, they are attentive, professional and very easy to talk to. All though Dad has dementia he is still able to interact with the staff which is a pleasure to watch. I would definitely recommend Pear Tree Court to anybody who asked for my advice.

We could not be happier that our father who has Alzheimer's is being cared for at Pear Tree Court nursing home. The staff throughout the home are excellent. They are all very attentive and caring and could not be any better, with excellent communication. They take the time to speak to the residents
by name and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent quality with a good choice of menu daily. The general ambience of Pear Tree Court is like being in a 5-star hotel. We cannot rate this place highly enough. Absolutely fabulous service in every way. The attention and care he receives go far and beyond what we expected.

My mum has only been at Pear Tree for a short time, but in that time the staff and team have welcomed her and helped her to settle. Staff are very caring and always inform us of how Mum has been during the day. As a family, we are grateful for the safe environment and relieved that she is being looked
after so well. They always make us feel very welcome and are happy for us to come and go whenever we wish. Thank you everyone!

Everyone at Pear Tree Court has been amazing. When Mum first entered the care home the staff were very friendly and put her mind at rest as she was nervous having just come out of the hospital.
The staff have been lovely all through the 4 weeks that Mum has been a resident and the stay has achieved
exactly what we were hoping for. Mum is stronger and is now ready to return to her own home.
If the situation arose where we needed to put Mum into a care home again I would not hesitate in coming back to Pear Tree Court.

Mum has been at Pear Tree Court since May 2021 and has received a level of genuine care and support since this time. The team on her floor are professional and manage the changing needs and demands of the residents on a daily basis. With professionalism comes a level of personal care and support that
is reassuring to both residents and families alike.
Having had a recent spell in hospital, the team kept in touch while Mum was away and the welcome home was great to see and certainly appreciated.
From our experience, I would recommend Pear Tree Court to anyone looking to provide care to a loved one.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.732)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.732) out of 10 for Pear Tree Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 36 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.732 for Pear Tree Court is calculated as follows: ( (324 Excellents x 5) + (76 Goods x 4) + (18 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 418 Ratings = 4.732
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pear Tree Court is based on 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 36 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I’m a qualified Registered General Nurse with 15 years of experience in both NHS hospitals and private care nursing homes. I was keen to join Pear Tree Court because of Care UK’s very good reputation and the development opportunities that are available. I was looking for a service to manage on a long-term basis.

Previously, I was an Interim General Manager and Clinical Quality Assurance Manager for a provider that supports residents with complex care needs. I also have experience working as a turnaround manager, where I supported a nursing home to move from ‘Inadequate’ to ‘Good’ in six months by building an entirely new team. I have a passion for nurturing colleagues, and it makes me proud to see my team shine.

As a Home Manager, I believe it’s important to have a fair but firm approach, a willingness to listen and a supportive and reassuring management style. You need to have an open door for colleagues and compassion for residents. Supporting my team to ensure excellent care is provided to keep residents and their loved ones safe and happy is the most important part of my role.

My favourite part of being a Home Manager is caring for residents on a long-term basis. This means I have the opportunity to really get to know them and their families and understand how to support them to live fulfilling lives.

When I’m not working, I enjoy taking trips with my family, showing my two daughters different cultures and areas of the world.
