We could not be happier that our father who has Alzheimer's is being cared for at Pear Tree Court nursing home. The staff throughout the home are excellent. They are all very attentive and caring and could not be any better, with excellent communication. They take the time to speak to the residents by name and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent quality with a good choice of menu daily. The general ambience of Pear Tree Court is like being in a 5-star hotel. We cannot rate this place highly enough. Absolutely fabulous service in every way. The attention and care he receives go far and beyond what we expected.

My mum has only been at Pear Tree for a short time, but in that time the staff and team have welcomed her and helped her to settle. Staff are very caring and always inform us of how Mum has been during the day. As a family, we are grateful for the safe environment and relieved that she is being looked after so well. They always make us feel very welcome and are happy for us to come and go whenever we wish. Thank you everyone!

Everyone at Pear Tree Court has been amazing. When Mum first entered the care home the staff were very friendly and put her mind at rest as she was nervous having just come out of the hospital.
The staff have been lovely all through the 4 weeks that Mum has been a resident and the stay has achieved exactly what we were hoping for. Mum is stronger and is now ready to return to her own home.

If the situation arose where we needed to put Mum into a care home again I would not hesitate in coming back to Pear Tree Court.

My wife has settled in quite well and is happy at Pear Tree. Her room is like a boutique hotel, and the facilities and entertainment are really very good. Has lots of special touches, such as a craft room and pub. Would definitely recommend it.

Mum has been at Pear Tree Court since May 2021 and has received a level of genuine care and support since this time. The team on her floor are professional and manage the changing needs and demands of the residents on a daily basis. With professionalism comes a level of personal care and support that is reassuring to both residents and families alike.
Having had a recent spell in hospital, the team kept in touch while Mum was away and the welcome home was great to see and certainly appreciated.

From our experience, I would recommend Pear Tree Court to anyone looking to provide care to a loved one.

It is a very nice care home and my dad has settled in well. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is a relief to know he is in a safe environment and being looked after as he has vascular dementia and was living on his own and not coping very well.

Our dad was finally transferred to Pear Tree in December after nearly 3 months in hospital following a serious and traumatic fall. He has been there a few weeks now and we have found all of the staff to be extremely caring in meeting Dad's needs and supportive of both him and the family. To date, we have been extremely happy with how Dad is being looked after and all communication has been responded to promptly and with consideration.

My brother was admitted to Pear Tree Court at the end of October 2022 and has now been there for almost a month after bed-blocking for 6 weeks in a Devon hospital. The management was very helpful in showing us around and giving us their time before my brother arrived. He had not had a very good experience in the hospital being moved from ward to ward - he has learning difficulties and Parkinson's - and was disorientated and unsettled. The staff made him very welcome and after a month in Pear Tree, he has perked up a lot. He has a lovely room and sees so many folks during the day. He is also taken to many activities where he can either observe or take part if he is able. We are extremely happy that he is in such a caring place and hope he will be able to stay there.

My mother moved here at our choice after a distressing period of illness in hospital last Christmas and not in a condition to remain in her home as she needed 24-hour attention. She initially moved into the nursing floor where the staff were wonderful and at 93 years old she made a great recovery thanks a lot to them. As she improved she was then able to move into the residential floor and has had no reoccurrence of her previous illnesses which plagued her at home and is a tribute to the staff at Pear Tree. Mum has since moved to be in care near her old location where lived most of her life which is no reflection on Pear Tree and again a tribute to what they have done for her. Moving was an emotional experience because of the close relationships she forged with the staff there. I would like to document my family's thanks for the care Pear Tree provided her.

Following the death of his wife, my brother was admitted into hospital but couldn't be released, so became a bed blocker. I found a local care home to fulfil his needs and my choice of Pear Tree was superb. Its warm and friendly atmosphere combined with helpful staff and lovely food couldn't be bettered.

We had the task of finding a suitable home For our 95 year old aunt, who decided that after many years of fending for herself the time had come to move into residential care. My wife and I were recommended Pear Tree Court and following our visit it was obvious that this would be the perfect solution. Early days but so far very impressed with all aspects of the service provided. Brilliant staff.

My mum was chosen as 'resident of the day' which meant a carer asked me for any concerns/issues with my mum's care. I asked what had been done regarding her jewellery that went missing in the home, plus some other queries. I have had no response, a waste of time. I also reported to the care home manager by email, that I had seen another visitor exit the home with a flat-screen TV under her arm that she did not have when she arrived. I have had no response. My view of the management is one of weakness, and not bothering to follow through and deal with things.

Sadly, after several years it’s no longer been possible to care for my partner at home, as her dementia gradually changes life for both of us. As a former nurse I have been particularly careful and thoughtful in finding the best new home I could to entrust with her care. In Pear Tree Court I have found such a place and such a team. My partner has a wonderful room, plenty of space, all mod cons. The team on Napier and across the home have been amazing and truly focused on her needs, nothing is ever too much trouble. It matters that they have also made me feel so welcome, I visit at all hours and the approach is consistent.

The building is relatively new and has all the advantages of deliberate design, reflecting the best practice in creating a new ‘home’ for residents. The place is also spotless, huge thank you to all the staff, we are all on this journey together

Mum has been a resident at Pear Tree Court for a year now after many falls at home and being unable to cope living alone. Mum has settled in well and has nothing but praise for the staff, they are so kind and friendly (mum's words) and fulfil all her needs in a professional, caring manner. Mum enjoys the entertainment and activities and having her hair done at the salon and has made friends. Pear Tree Court has a happy, feel-good vibe which adds to the atmosphere not only for the residents but also for family and friends.

My wife was admitted to Napier Floor with Alzheimer's when, after 2 years, I could no longer meet all her needs at home. I have been most impressed by the care and concern (love, even) shown by all the staff from the manageress right through to the regular lady who kept her room so pristine. This also applied to the way I was treated on my many visits. My wife's needs were often anticipated and always met with gentleness and concern during the whole time she was there. She settled in very quickly and was happy and contented there, which speaks so well of the friendliness with which she was cared for. I cannot speak highly enough of the relief I felt, seeing how well she liked the staff and related to them. It was also a great comfort to me that someone was with her, holding her hand, during her last moments. My son and daughter also concur with these comments.

The staff genuinely care for my Mum, which is so important when I can't be there. I gave them a burden 2 1/2 years ago and they gave me back my mum. I don't think she'd be alive today without them getting her up and out of bed every day and entertaining her, giving her something to live for. She has made friends with the other ladies and they meet for a cuppa and a chat, they play games together and she isn't lonely anymore. They provide many activities and she takes part in everything; she has been drawing, painting, singing and all sorts. When she lived at home she just slept.

My mum has been a resident of Pear Tree Court since the beginning of February this year and the family have been incredibly impressed by the care and attention she has received.
Mum’s behaviour, affected by a subdural haematoma, is not always ideal but the care she receives from all the staff is second to none, they are always compassionate, understanding and caring.
Add to this exemplary care for mum, the support they have shown me and the rest of the family, we cannot be more grateful.

A massive thank you to all the staff who give us peace of mind.

Meet the Team (1)

Aimee Sparks
Aimee SparksJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2023

I’m a qualified Registered General Nurse with 15 years of experience in both NHS hospitals and private care nursing homes. I was keen to join Pear Tree Court because of Care UK’s very good reputation and the development opportunities that are available. I was looking for a service to manage on a long-term basis.

Previously, I was an Interim General Manager and Clinical Quality Assurance Manager for a provider that supports residents with complex care needs. I also have experience working as a turnaround manager, where I supported a nursing home to move from ‘Inadequate’ to ‘Good’ in six months by building an entirely new team. I have a passion for nurturing colleagues, and it makes me proud to see my team shine.

As a Home Manager, I believe it’s important to have a fair but firm approach, a willingness to listen and a supportive and reassuring management style. You need to have an open door for colleagues and compassion for residents. Supporting my team to ensure excellent care is provided to keep residents and their loved ones safe and happy is the most important part of my role.

My favourite part of being a Home Manager is caring for residents on a long-term basis. This means I have the opportunity to really get to know them and their families and understand how to support them to live fulfilling lives.

When I’m not working, I enjoy taking trips with my family, showing my two daughters different cultures and areas of the world.
