Overall Experience

We were put in a very difficult situation of Stuart having dementia & unable to live independantly even though he thought he could. Parklands fitted the bill. We had a look around first for resbite. Everyone was so welcoming we decided this was the right new home for Stuart. (July) had a few issues which were resolved professionally. Stuart treats this as his home now. Thank-you.

My Mum went to Mere Hall for some respite care and loved it so much, stayed an extra week. Everyone treated her with a caring friendly approach and took the time to chat with her. She particularly enjoyed the activities and entertainment.

Review of Tranby Park from Ann Lorraine G (Wife of Resident) published on 11 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Unfortunately the Care my husband received was extremely disappointing. He has dementia and is difficult when it comes to washing and changing - these are very normal dementia traits but the home was not able to cope with them at all.
Staff did not ensure he had his glasses, which often went missing, as did his shoes, one time I arrived to find him wearing the wrong shoes which were 2 sizes too small for him. No effort was made to locate his shoes so he had to walk around without any for days.
His room frequently had crumbs on the floor and dirty pots with food on them left in it.
As he became incontinent I would often arrive to find him walking around the unit with urine soaked clothing and recently he was sat in the lounge with faeces all over his leg. Nails not cut and ingrained with faeces.
He liked to spend time in his room but staff made no effort to spend time with him, just left him there alone. Activities are not suitable for dementia residents.

He has now left

Overall Experience
I'm sad to say that my family's experience of this care home was very disappointing. The building, gardens and rooms are impressive, but the care on the dementia floor was not.
We were told staff could not provide personal care if a resident refused it. While I understand respecting residents' wishes, this approach is inappropriate for people with advanced dementia who lack the capacity to understand they need washing or clean clothes.
As a result, my relative was left in urine-soaked and soiled clothing on more than one occasion. We also found stale food left in his room for over 24 hours, soiled bedding, stale urine in his bin, and he developed sores under his arms due to poor personal hygiene.

The more independent floors may be excellent, but based on our experience, I could not recommend this home for anyone with advanced dementia who cannot consistently accept the care they need.

Review of Driffield Manor from Steve R (Husband of Resident) published on 11 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Previously I have sent reviews on the wonderful care that my wife Helen has received whilst enjoying week long stays.
This time it was with a difference!
After leaving Helen in good health and spirits within five hours she quickly became unwell and by a detailed, thorough and knowledgable examination it was deemed necessary to call an ambulance. The communication I received was regular and outstanding which made me feel very much at ease.
Upon arrival at Driffield Manor the Paramedics were given a detailed verbal briefing from the senior carer as well as a very detailed passport and care plan specifically about Helen which provided a seamless transition and smooth handover to the hospital team.
Driffield Manor is a beautiful place, however, that means nothing without an exemplary well led team who work to the highest of standards and genuinely want to make a difference in a very positive way. That is all of you, never change as it makes such a difference.

Steve and Helen

Review of Tranby Park from Joanne D (Friend of Resident) published on 11 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
We recently travelled a long way to visit a very special friend who has been in Tranby for over 6 months and can honestly say we were shocked and disgusted at how badly our friend has been treated and the state we found his room to be in on our visits!
His room, lovely and spacious, however, it certainly isn't kept clean and tidy! There was dishes left on his table, from the previous day and it certainly was in need of being wiped down! Crumbs on the floor, window sill very dirty, just a mess! The toilet was in need of being cleaned with bleach and there was dirty washing in the sink, very unhygienic!!
Bedding! The first day we visited I noticed marks on his duvet cover and the other days we went they were still there. On Friday we happened to lift his duvet and can honestly say we were absolutely disgusted at the mess it was in! It was heavily soiled with faeces and I've never seen anything like this ever!

Would not recommend this to anybody thinking it's a Care Home!!!

Review of Chapter House from Shirley R (Daughter of Resident) published on 25 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Although this is a sad journey for my mum who has dementia (undiagnosed), it is always nice to see smiles from carers and other staff who work in the home. My mum connects with cheerful people and although can't really hold much of a coherent conversation, just threads that make sense occasionally, it is welcoming when I visit that we are met with many kind greetings when I take mum to the bistro or garden and wherever we happen to be, most staff try to connect with her positively. Thanks to you all for doing this as although it is a small thing, it can be uplifting and it is appreciated as I know staff work long shifts and may not always feel like being jolly.
Thanks also to those who pretend to get the gist or mood of what mum is trying to say although it is often quite a riddle. It gives her some dignity.
I appreciate being kept up to date also about any issues re: mum also

Relatives can be quite wrapped up in our situations but I do wish all of you who work at the home well.

Review of Chapter House from Samantha H (Daughter of Resident) published on 25 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
We cannot recommend Chapter House highly enough. My mum initially came to Chapter House for respite care following a hip replacement, but unfortunately her recovery meant she needed to remain in long-term residential care. While this was a difficult decision for our family, the kindness, compassion, and professionalism shown by every member of staff has made all the difference.
From day one, Mum has been treated with dignity, respect, and genuine warmth. The staff go above and beyond to ensure she is comfortable, happy, and well cared for, and they have supported our family every step of the way. It is clear that they truly care about the residents and work hard to create a safe, welcoming, and homely environment.

Knowing Mum is receiving great care gives us real peace of mind. We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Chapter House for everything they do and would wholeheartedly recommend this care home to anyone looking for outstanding care for a loved one

My Uncle initially required respite care following discharge from hospital. He settled so well that, when the physios suggested he would struggle on his own, he made the decision not to go home. He has found the care, facilities, staff, food etc. to be great.

Review of Driffield Manor from Kate M (Daughter of Resident) published on 13 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
We cannot thank everyone at Manor Care Home in Driffield enough for the incredible care, compassion, and kindness they showed our Mum and our family.
Although Mum was only with you for a short time during her end-of-life care, every single member of staff went above and beyond to make her comfortable, respected, and cared for. She was treated like a queen every single day.
Every person we met was an angel. The warmth, dignity, and genuine compassion shown by the whole team gave us so much comfort during the hardest time of our lives. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and we always felt supported as a family.

We truly couldn't have asked for more. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making Mum's final days so, I would say peaceful, they absolutely were.. but they were also joyful, fun, heart warming and full of laughter. For treating her with such love and respect we will never forget the whole team's kindness.

Tranby Park proved to be very much a home from home for my sister in law. It is set in pleasant surroundings, is light and airy. The staff are very friendly and caring. There always seems to be activities one can join in. The large lounge is excellent with views onto the grounds. We were delighted as a family to find this home and would recommend it to anyone requiring this type of facility.

My husband has been in Chapter House for 18 months. We had to move him from his previous home as it was closing. At very short notice Chapter House helped us with the move. My husband took a while to settle, but with care and kindness from the carers he has adjusted and is settled now.

His needs are understood and catered for and staff know what he likes and dislikes
