From our first enquiry through to admission we received such wonderful, supportive and helpful advice. The home is spotlessly clean and a credit to the cleaning staff. All staff are extremely friendly, down to earth and full of care, compassion, empathy and smiles! Food is wonderful and there is always plenty of hot and cold drinks available. We have no hesitation at all in recommending Mere to anyone thinking of care homes for themselves or others. Superb care home and professionally run.

My mother needed 24 hour care, so I turned up at Mere Hall with no appointment to look around. The staff were very friendly and immediately showed me round answering all my questions. Just under three days later, my mother was taken there by ambulance straight from hospital. She has a lovely room, her own patio area, and quickly made friends. She joins in all the activities and just loves the food. The staff are wonderful and very friendly too. An outstanding 5 star home with exceptional quality of care. Thank you Mere Hall.

My husband arrived at Mere Hall Care home in August for end of life care. The staff helped us all through what was an incredibly difficult and emotional time. They cared for my husband with absolute dedication and with a personal approach, making him as comfortable as they possibly could, attending to not just his needs but also mine and all of the family .The home is such a lovely welcoming environment with a real homely feel. The standards are excellent, the cleanliness and rooms are immaculate. We as a family cannot praise or thank the staff enough , every member of staff showed kindness and support to my husband and all of us which was a great comfort. The final week was the most difficult and challenging but the staff were again incredible offering us the opportunity to stay with my husband and treating him with the upmost dignity and respect. Thankyou for all of your kindness and hard work.

My dad came to Mere Hall care hall on end of life care. From day one my dad and our family had the best possible experience with Mere Hall. The home itself is immaculate, modern, comfortable and had everything my father could have needed. The food was good and there were constant drinks and snacks on offer for him. When it was clear my dad was dying, the home opened up a room for us to stay in so we could be with him (this went on for 6 days) and provided, a bed, snacks and hot drinks which was incredible and helped us with decision making and exhaustion. Above this though, the empathy, compassion and support they provided us as a whole family was incredible, alongside the impeccable care that my dad received, keeping him as comfortable as possible towards the end and meeting his every need which were numerous and complex. The care home exceeded our expectations and the staff are incredible from the chefs and carers to the manager. We cannot thank you enough.

Mere Hall doesn't feel or act like a care home it feels like a loving family who wrapped their arms around us and cared for us both -from day one we were made to feel so welcome and you cannot underestimate the pressure it took from my shoulders knowing my mum was so well looked after with all her needs catered for. It meant I could spend quality time with her during her last year. The friendships we have both built over this last year will stay with me forever and the kindness hard work and dedication of a team who go well over and above any expectations is without doubt something I will never forget, care and compassion aren't taught they are something people are gifted with and Mere Hall has gifted people in abundance from care staff and senior carers to reception staff, the hairdresser, housekeeping and managers everyone I have had experienced with at Mere Hall has been perfect - I hand on heart couldn't have had a better home for my mum in her last year.

Mum lived on the Haven at Mere Hall for the last two and half years of her life. We couldn't have chosen a better care home for mum to spend her final years in. It is a beautiful home but most importantly it always felt like we were walking into mum's home when we visited. We always felt welcome when we visited and the atmosphere was friendly with lots of smiles from both staff and residents. The range of activities that took place was amazing and always planned with the wishes of the residents taken into account. Mum had a specialised diet and this was catered for brilliantly, always considering mum and her wishes. Every member of staff provided caring and compassionate care and support to mum who had advanced dementia and was immobile. This included everyone from carers to housekeeping, activities and catering along with all other members of staff including admin and management. We can't thank everyone at Mere Hall enough for their care and support. Thank you!

Reply from Jan Gladhill, Home Manager at Mere Hall

It was our pleasure to care for your mum, she was a wonderful person, always a delight. It was changing bedrooms from the Haven to the top floor for her in the last few weeks was the right thing to do in her best interest allowing her to experience another part of the home and gave you all that...

This Care home is excellent. It is well staffed and well managed. The food is good. It caters well for residents who have various stages of Dementia and end of life care too. My Mother has been there for nearly 4 years and it has been a difficult journey at times but Mere Hall has provided lots of help and I personally do not think I could have found a better place for Mum. Like all organisations things can sometimes not work, but Mere hall always tries to sort out any issues promptly and sensibly. They have coped with Covid and other issues of a similar nature really well and have a positive attitude to staff recruitment and retention, which is important in the care industry. If you are looking for a care home in this area I would not hesitate to suggest a visit.

My Uncle chose this care home after his wife died. They have looked after him excellently as he deteriorated quickly and ended up needed a vast amount of personal care.
They gave him a wonderful birthday party in December and took him to the pub with the other men. He ended up in hospital and the care at the hospital was nothing like he was getting at the home. When it was realised he would not get any better he was transferred back to the home. If it had not been for the staff working hard to get him back I think he would not have been here now.
The staff all care for the residents that is from the cleaning staff, kitchen staff, care staff up to the managers.
They are proactive in making a difference for the residence at all times.

They Value their dignity and they are treated with respect at all times.

My Dad went into mere hall from Dec 2024 - Feb 2025 for the last 7 weeks of his life. Managers seniors, health care assistants, domestic team, laundry, activity's staff, cooks, maintenance are utterly amazing in their own ways. Everyone showed care, compassion & dignity to him, from popping in to say a simple good morning or just to ask how he was. The care itself is second to none, Towards the end of his life we always knew & said we would be their until the end, Mere Hall gave me & my daughter the chance to be by his side for the last 48 hours until he sadly passed away. As Family we felt welcomed, supported, guided & well looked after, with no pressure to leave. We can not thank the staff at Mere Hall enough for all the care, compassion & understanding that they provided. Each went above & beyond not just for my dad but for us to. The home itself is beautiful with a real home from home feel, clean warm, comforting with a care family that make a difference to all, Thank you.

Everyone at Mere Hall looked after my sister for the last eight weeks of her life. She was treated with dignity, respect and genuine loving care at all times in the most comfortable of surroundings. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. My sister was unable to leave her room and they even arranged for her to have a fully decorated Christmas tree to enjoy over the Christmas period. Thank you to all those who directly knew and looked after her, you know who you are and I will be eternally grateful to each and every one of you.

Thank you too for always making me and my wife feel welcome every time we visited. You really are the best!

What an amazing place it's like walking into a five-star hotel.
My mother is a resident at Mere Hall care home and it has to be said what amazing teamwork there is from the receptionist who is always happy and smiling and eager to help up to the manager who puts in a big effort to keep us all informed on how things are going and is very involved in the care my mother receives.
My mother has been quite poorly lately but they all pulled together and got her through the worst phases of it to bring her back to her old self which I thought we would never see you again and we know has not been an easy task for them.
The carers have been fabulous and are more than eager to help with a constant smile.
I love the fact that every time I have been there I have been offered tea or a coffee by the staff.

I would like to thank all the staff members for their contributions to making it a great place to be for my mother including the chef because the food looks lovely.

My Mum came into Mere Hall Care Home on Tuesday the 10th of September. She seems to have settled in better than we could have imagined. Mum looks so happy, comfortable, and calm. All the staff are extremely attentive and reassuring. Already my Mum looks healthier and destressed, my sister and I are confident our Mum will be looked after well and cared for with her complex needs which thankfully are now being met.

Dad has been a resident at Mere Hall Care Home for 2 1/4 years before his death.
He was very happy, loved the staff and they loved him. During the last two weeks of his life he deteriorated quite quickly and the staff and management were wonderful. His room was made special with soothing music and special lighting, all very calming.

The home is always immaculate, residents rooms very comfortable and good choice of food at meal times for residents able to participate on and an extensive entertainment programme is available. I would recommend Mere Hall to anyone.

My mum stayed in this wonderful home for 8 weeks respite care following a long stay in hospital. Her health and mobility improved considerably whilst in their care. The facilities are amazing and the staff go over and above to ensure their residents are well looked after. I can’t imagine any other care home to be better than this. It really is five-star. Weekly visits are a pleasure. Helpful reception and all nurses say hello. My relative is safe and cared for. Mere Hall Care Home offered some fantastic dementia training which was appreciated.
Work hard to help residents keep their independence and great hairdressing/beauty service.

My grandma is needing additional support and this is being cared for. There have been a few comments about the food being very similar and not to the high standards it once was but I am unable to determine if this is due to old age!

Rachael Moss
Rachael MossJob Title:Home Manager

I believe the most important qualities in my role are kindness, understanding and being approachable. My favourite part of the day is spending time with residents, their families and our team, getting to know everyone and finding ways to make life at Mere Hall as fulfilling and enjoyable as possible.

I chose Care UK because of its commitment to person-centred care, lifestyle enrichment and ensuring residents enjoy the very best quality of life.

I always work by what I call the "mum test" - if our home is good enough for my own parents, then I know we're providing the standard of care every resident deserves. I aim to create a welcoming home where residents are happy, families feel reassured, and our team is proud to make a difference every day. I’ve dedicated my career to creating the highest standards of care and support for older people.

One of my proudest career achievements was being named Hampshire Care Association Care Home Manager of the Year in 2022, followed by my home receiving Care Home of the Year in 2023.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and grandchildren, exploring local areas and supporting organisations such as the Stroke Association, Parkinson’s groups, Dementia Forward and Age UK.
