My mum has been in Gildawood for 7 weeks and my overall experience is good. The staff are very welcoming and helpful when we visit. It was a very hard decision about placing mum into a care home but the management and staff have been a great support. Mum is happier since she's been in Gildawood. She
looks well and has put on weight, her overall well being has improved. It would be nice if they spent some money on smartening the gardens up though.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Gildawood CourtThank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding Gildawood Court.
We are so pleased to read that you find the colleagues in the home to be welcoming, helpful and supportive. They hold themselves to a very high standard and they will greatly appreciate your feedback as they continue their hard work.
We are also very happy to read that your mum's overall well being has improved and that she is happier since moving into the home. We hope this continues to be the case.
We are very sorry to read of your concerns regarding the garden. Please be assured that the presentation of the garden has been identified by the team and there is an ongoing plan in place to address this.
If you would like to discuss this further, please be assured that the Home Manager would be happy to do so.
Thankyou again.

Priors House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum came to Priors House for the nursing care during her 8 month cancer treatment. The care and love she received was instrumental in her surviving her disease. I am eternally grateful for all the staff, everyone played a part in giving her the support and confidence she needed to fight cancer. I
know without it, the outcome would have been different. The facilities are first class but the atmosphere and the cultivated caring environment makes this care home special. The attention to detail as regards her health and medication was very impressive and it was literally like she had her own personal doctor 24h a day. The home has dedicated entertainment staff who encourage the residents to participate and give them a purpose. The Elephant Cafe is a lovely place for socialising and get togethers. To say I recommend the home is an understatement. It has literally been a lifesaver. Many thanks Iain
Reply from Staci Reeson, Reviews Team at Priors HouseIain, your mum is an inspiration to us all. To overcome the challenges which she faced with grace and determination and to be reunited with you her family wasn't just a wish come true for her but also for us. She will always be a cherished member of the Priors House family. Thank you so very much for your kind words about the home and our team. We wish you all the very best for the future and the new memories you are now able to create.

I was going to give individuals a positive review but then I realised that I would have to include all staff. I cannot think of any one member of staff not worthy of a mention. Nothing is ever too much for any of them. The room was cleaned daily. I felt safe and secure during my 2-week respite stay.
My whole family visited one time or another and the home was a very pleasant surprise to all of them. Many thanks.

Very good care home! Extremely well managed by Manager/Assistant Manager, the general staff do an amazing job. The nursing staff are most efficient: the carers, who are the most important people as far as the residents are concerned, do a truly amazing job, and the cleaning staff not only do their work,
but regularly answer queries and give friendly, helpful advice. All in all, a care home where a 'good atmosphere' has been created!

My wife moved into KG under NHS care for 6 weeks and then a further 4 weeks self funding. Most of the staff were friendly and pleased to help her whilst the odd one or two were rude and unhelpful at times. Some staff would enter her room and not ask "do you want anything?", and some would not even say
"hello". Carers did not understand her illness and that she required time to answer questions and, in addition, was hard of hearing and had slurred speech - this required carers with patience, which was not always forthcoming. My wife had a catheter and frequently the night urine bag was left near her bed, or in the bathroom, until the afternoon. It was disappointing that some of the weekly activities did not take place. There seemed to be a shortage of staff, especially at weekends.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Kenilworth GrangeI would like to thank you for taking the time to provide a review of Kenilworth Grange.
Thank you for your kind words regarding some of our staff being friendly and pleased to help your wife. The team pride themselves on delivering compassionate and attentive care and this will mean a lot to them as they continue this work.

We can not praise the staff at Ambleside too highly.
My sister after 25 years of living in France wanted to return to the UK. She was terminally ill and needed palliative care.
The moment we walked in we knew we had found the ideal home for her. She loved the room and having a garden to look at gave
her great joy.
The staff were so attentive and she was so happy for her last few weeks.
One of the highlights was the family Easter egg hunt watching her great nephews and nieces enjoy the garden.
I would recommend Ambleside to anyone. Thank you to the whole team.

My Dad was admitted to Priors House at short notice for nursing and palliative care. The team were so helpful on the phone and by email guiding us through the application. They quickly arranged a home visit for assessment which was caring and efficient. I went to visit before Dad was admitted and as
soon as I walked through the door I knew it was a caring, happy and professional place. The team couldn't have been more caring and professional after dad was admitted. They were superb and a credit to the nursing and caring professions. Thank you.

My dad is fairly new to his dementia journey and joined the residents of Arkall Manor last year. As a family we are comforted that he is well taken care of and supported through this journey. Plenty of activities to keep him stimulated, lovely caring staff and excellent food. The care home itself
is well planned out, spotless and provides everything you could think of. He is very happy here, even if he doesn't remember where he is a lot of the time. This home and the residents within have become an extension of our family and provides peace of mind that he is cared for and loved by so many.

Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
My wife spent 6 months and although the staff were all good.
I did not feel the management cared at all. My wife has alzheimer's dementia she allegedly pushed another resident over at 3 on morning. Where were the staff.
I was told about this and it was explained as one of those things.
I had a
telephone call a week or so after and was told My wife had to leave. It was never suggested that we meet and discuss it.
I did try to make contact with the area manager who never returned my emails.
I feel not to have had any contact face to face is worrying.
I must also question where the members of staff were at that time this happened in the main corridor. This was never raised as an issue.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at AmblesideThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am deeply concerned to read about your experience, and I would like to sincerely apologise for the distress this situation has caused you and your wife. We fully recognise how important clear communication, transparency, and support are for families, particularly when a loved one is living with Alzheimer’s dementia.
The incident you describe should have prompted immediate, thorough, and compassionate engagement with you. I am sorry that this did not happen. You should have been offered a face to face meeting at the earliest opportunity to discuss the circumstances, understand what occurred, and work together on an appropriate plan moving forward. It is disappointing to learn that this did not take place, and I regret that your attempts to contact senior management were not responded to. This falls short of the standard of communication and accountability we expect.
Your concerns regarding staffing presence at the time of the incident are also taken very seriously. Events of this nature should always be fully reviewed, with contributing factors clearly explained and addressed. I regret that you were not provided with the level of detail and reassurance you rightly expected.
Please be assured that your comments will be used as part of our ongoing review of practice and communication within the service. We are committed to learning from this experience to ensure that families receive consistent, timely, and respectful engagement from our teams.
In addition to my own wish to speak with you personally, the home is led by an experienced and dedicated manager, who is fully informed of your concerns and would also welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss the matter in detail and offer further clarity and support.
If you would be willing, please contact my office or the home manager directly at your convenience so that we may arrange a suitable time to talk.
Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve the quality of our services.

Priors House

from Peter B (Son of Resident) published on 24 March 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Priors House is outstanding!
From May '25 to Feb '26 my mum was stuck in a spiral of hospitalisations. She would be discharged from hospital only to be readmitted a few days later, by ambulance, with a recurrence of the same symptoms. With each cycle her health deterioriated to new lows.
By Feb '26
it was clear that mum's care needs were more than one carer could cope with at home, and we needed a way to break the cycle of hospital admissions or accept that we were losing her.
Since moving her to Priors House in Feb, the transformation in my mother's wellbeing has been amazing. 3 weeks ago she couldn't get out of bed. Last week she went on a trip to a safari park. She is happier than I've seen her in months, eating full meals, getting stronger each day, mentally far more alert, and enjoying life! This is because of the fabulous care and positivity provided by Priors House. Whatever happens now, I know she will get the best possible care and attention. I am so grateful!
Reply from Sarah Mitchell, Reviews Team at Priors HouseThank you so much for sharing this incredibly moving feedback. We are truly honoured that you entrusted us with your mother’s care during such a difficult time.
It means a great deal to hear about the positive transformation in her wellbeing since joining Priors House. Stories like yours are exactly why our team is so passionate about what we do. Supporting residents to regain strength, confidence, and enjoyment in daily life is at the heart of our approach, and your kind words about our care, positivity, and dedication will mean so much to everyone here.
We’re especially delighted to hear about your mum’s recent progress from being unable to get out of bed to enjoying a safari park trip is truly wonderful. Knowing she is happier, stronger, and more engaged is the greatest reward for ypu to hear as a family but also for our team.
Thank you again for your trust and gratitude. We will continue to do everything we can to ensure your mother receives the very best care and support every day.

I spent 3+ weeks in Arkall Manir on Respite Care and cannot fault them at all. You just need to ask the Chef for something if it's not on the menu and he will always do his very best to prepare this. He usually succeeds.
The food is freshly cooked and hot when it needs to be and served on proper plates.
Cups and saucers on the tables and everywhere spotlessly clean.
The carers are all friendly and will always help if you need help.
I had my hair cut in the little salon and one day did easy exercises to music I could sing along to, just my era. It was planned for residents of my age group, those who lived through the 60's.
With a little notice, my visitors were also given lunch.
I give them my very best thanks for caring for me.

We're very pleased to leave a glowing review for Kenilworth Grange. Dad has been a resident there now for a few months and has settled in really well. It's s super-caring and friendly place, and all the staff and carers do a fantastic job. He recently had an in-patient hospital appointment, and before
he went his carer gave him a big hug, and on his return in the evening several people were waiting to ask how it went, and they'd kept some food for him as he missed evening meal. That's just an example of how friendly they all are. The day-to-day running is very smooth and professional as well as caring. Dad really does feel like he's in _his_ home, not just _a_ home.
