Although our Aunt was only resident at Holly grange house for a few weeks she was the happiest we had seen her for a long time.
Sadly our aunt passed away but the care and compassion shown by all the staff to my Aunt and ourselves was exemplary. They made a very emotional and difficult time a lot more bearable.

I can't thank them enough.

The care home was recommended to me by a hospital for 2 weeks respite care after knee replacement surgery. It gave me a place to rest & recover from the initial period when I couldn't cope on my own. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the outset, understanding that my main focus was recovery rather than joining in with all the activities. The food was excellent as soon as the main chef came back from her holiday, meeting my vegetarian needs. My overall experience was of a warm & caring place who treated everyone as an individual. Thank you.

I stayed at Holly Grange House from 09/102025 - 28/10/2025. I found the home to be excellent in every way nothing was too much trouble to any member of staff. It was like being at home. When the time comes that I have to stay in a home permanently I would like to think I could stay at this home. I certainly felt at home. The food was excellent and I enjoyed my stay, can't speak highly enough of it.

My mother stayed at Holly Grange for 3 weeks respite care. She has previously stayed in other local care homes and has not been happy. At Holly Grange, she settled in easily and enjoyed her stay. Everyone that visited her was so impressed with the staff, newness and facilities.

My mum was here for two weeks' respite care, and it was her first experience of a residential home. The care my mum received was excellent, and mum said that she wanted to return in the future. The staff were great, and the whole experience was well explained and easy.

I have only been here a few months, so my judgment is limited. I am very well looked after, hence I have checked all the boxes, and the staff are excellent.

However, I do find some of the residents very demanding (in some cases affecting the whole room), then I remind myself that this is a care home, not a 4-star hotel.

My father moved into Holly Grange Care Home on 3rd April and I've been absolutely delighted with every aspect of his care. The staff are exceptional - from the front-of-house team and managers to carers, kitchen, laundry, and maintenance - all professional, kind, and clearly passionate about their work.

The facilities are superb, more like a luxury hotel than a care home. His room is beautifully furnished and quiet. The home includes several lounges, a hair salon, library, summer room, bar, movie theatre and balcony - all spotless, welcoming and very high quality.

The food is delicious, home-cooked, and varied, with plenty of treats available during the day.

Most importantly, the care is outstanding. Staff respond to call buzzers in under two minutes and provide support with dignity, respect, and great attention to safety.

As a regular visitor, I always feel welcome and supported. Holly Grange genuinely feels like my father's home - and I'm so grateful to everyone there.

I am very happy at Holly Grange House, if I wasn't happy here, I would have gone home and continued to wash and cook for myself. Having reached 93 in December my family asked me to try out care. They are all retired so I could not let them worry about me, they can now enjoy their retirement.

I cannot rate this place highly enough. Since we first stepped in we were made to feel welcome - from staff on the front desk to all the staff who are so attentive and professional. Everyone seems happy to be there, it feels like a really healthy working environment.
The facilities are first class. The room my father is in has everything he needs, from the adjustable bed to the walk-in shower. The food is top quality. There is a library, bar, cinema, and in-house hair salon.
Most importantly, I know my father is safe and his medical and day-to-day needs are being cared for. Residents are encouraged to be active with daily walks around the grounds and there is a programme of activities. Entrance to Holly Grange is carefully managed by staff using security access controls.
Since moving in a couple of months ago my father's health and outlook have improved dramatically. He is happy and his mobility is steadily improving.

I cannot thank the team at Holly Grange enough.

All the staff at Holly Grange Care Home need to be recognised for their care, compassion and professionalism, which were all delivered to the highest standards I have seen in any care home.
Unfortunately, Dad only had a short time at the home and didn't have the opportunity to enjoy all Holly Grange has to offer its residents. The care provided was second to none and this was not exclusive to Dad, it was extended to his whole family, at what was a very difficult time for us.
The home provides excellent facilities, this along with the staff's interaction and the activities organised for the residents makes it and excellent place for loved ones who need that additional support.

If you are looking for a care home for a loved one, then I would look no further than Holly Grange.

First class care home!
My father was only here for a very brief period after leaving hospital - he was discharged on the proviso that the care home could meet his needs and that palliative care and end of life support could be met by NHS nursing the quick response team.
Thankfully all the above worked out and he made it to the home where he was comfortable, clean, fed and watered, cared for and treated with a high level of dignity and respect.
The environment is first class (I've stayed in worse hotels).
All the staff have been fantastic as has the management.

I thank you all very much for the care, respect and dignity given to my father and will always positively advocate for you.

Facilities are excellent, and the main importance was that I had an update every morning about my dad. Someone always answered the phone which when you have been worried all night about how your dad was it was very reassuring. After a very short period of time they knew a lot about my dad, I sat in a meeting and was impressed with the knowledge they had obtained in a short period of time.

Reply from HELEN BLUNDELL, Registered Manager at Holly Grange House

Thank you for your review Matt. We always endeavour to find out as much as we can about our residents, so that we can share common ground with them, especially if they have dementia. My dadcu (Welsh grandad) moved in just before Christmas and was welcomed very warmly. He has been looked after so well. The staff are so helpful, both the care team and the admin are amazing. Initially, it was a difficult decision to move him into a home and he wasn't best pleased, but he has settled in so well. All the lovely staff have been super supportive right from the start, and he is happy and safe. We feel now that it was the absolute best decision all round. We visit him as a family whenever we want, there is always a cuppa (and cakes, usually) on offer, and it makes us all feel as though we really are visiting him at his home. Between us and his friends he has visits every day. I can honestly say, after reviewing and visiting many homes locally before he came out of hospital, that this was the absolute best fit. The place is luxurious, and the atmosphere is kind and calm.

I would also say the value for money was the best, too.

Mum has been settled in the Holly Grange House from day one, she's settled in very well with the help of the staff which are very caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. The residents all seem very happy when I've been visiting mum and always welcome the residents families to attend any special events they are organising. There is always activities going on daily, when I was there one day, I got to join in on a game of bowls which was fun.
Mum celebrated her 90th birthday in the care home and they did her proud, we had a lovely buffet and a birthday cake all made by the chef which was lovely and they also organised a singer to come in for an hour so the residents were singing along and dancing, was lovely to see them joining in, they made mum's birthday very special.

I would definitely recommend Holly Grange House to anyone that was looking for a care home for a loved one.

The facility is impeccable from design, to amenities, to rooms. The level of attention to cleanliness and detail is outstanding. The food is restaurant quality. But the best asset is their staff, they are genuinely loving and attentive to my mom. They call her name with excitement when we return from an outing and give her welcoming hugs and fix her hair. She responds with a smile as big as a Cheshire Cat. She is greeted this way by the care staff, registrar, cooks and the hairdresser, the latter being the highlight of her week. Everyone reinforces this is your home, what can we get you.
The visiting school children allow her to recapture her teaching days and the outings to places like the donkey sanctuary allow her to feel like she lives in a holiday camp - happy memories come back.

I would highly recommend Holly Grange House as everything is included and the love is abundant.

Katie Malsher
Katie MalsherJob Title:Home Manager

It is a huge privilege that families trust us to care for their loved ones. Holly Grange House is a friendly and happy home with a wonderful atmosphere.

Before my current role, I was a care manager here. Being able to progress to home manager has been such a highlight and makes the most of my master’s degree in leadership in healthcare.

We have a strong team here, and collaboration is important to ensure we deliver dynamic, person-centred care. Being able to empathise deeply is also essential, while also understanding how we can provide the support needed on a practical level. As with any leadership role, you need to be professional, be a good communicator and be reliable.

I am really proud of Holly Grange House, and we all work incredibly hard to make sure everything runs smoothly. It is important to me that all residents and colleagues feel safe and supported here.

In my spare time, I enjoy paddleboarding and photography. I also like to go on long walks in the Peak and Lake District.
