First impression is like entering a smart hotel! Friendly welcome by a staff member who escorted me to the garden room where my friend was sitting - all spotlessly clean with good quality furniture. I had travelled 40 miles to visit, so I stayed for lunch, which was well presented, nutritious and just
the right quantity. (soup, sausage casserole, apple crumble, fruit juice). We then walked around the gardens, flowerbeds and seating - before sitting outside on the patio with a cup of tea! My friend's room was lovely, excellent en-suite, roomy wardrobe and drawers, plus shelving for photos and memorabilia.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your lovely feedback. We're thrilled to hear that your visit made such a positive impression, and that you felt warmly welcomed from the moment you arrived. It's wonderful to know you enjoyed the lunch and found everything to be just right Our wonderful chef's put a lot of care into making sure our meals are both nutritious and enjoyable. We're also so pleased you had a chance to stroll through the gardens and relax on the patio with a cup of tea - it's one of our favourite spots too!Thank you again for visiting, we hope to see you again soon!

I recommended Broadlands Lodge to friends following a very positive experience with my own Mum. Forget all you preconceptions about care homes. BL is a breathe of fresh air. The facilities are supber in terms of decor, rooms, choice of communal areas. But what makes it is the staff and management. Always
approachable and go out of their way to learn about each resident. Families and visitors made to feel very welcome, and there's always something going on. Thank you to the whole team.
Reply from Amy Batchelor, Customer Relations Manager at Broadlands Lodge Care Home

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It truly means a great deal to the whole team that you've recommended Broadlands Lodge to others based on your experience with your Mum.We're so pleased to hear that you found the facilities, communal spaces, and overall atmosphere such a positive contrast to the usual expectations of care homes. Creating a welcoming, vibrant, and homely environment is at the heart of everything we do.Your lovely comments about our staff and management are especially appreciated, they work incredibly hard to build genuine relationships with each resident and their families, so it's wonderful to see that recognised. Thank you.

Orchard Manor

from Melissa K (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 September 2025

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Before my mum was a resident at Orchard Manor, she was living at home on her own, the care she received at home was the bare minimum by adult social care, no stimulation she was lonely and depressed. We took the option for mum to become a full time resident at Orchard Manor after some much needed respite
and cannot describe just how much her quality of life improved. She even embraced some of the activities, engaging with residents and visitors. The care, kindness and patience shown by the all the staff, from carers to all the other internal staff was second to none. It allowed us as a family to spend enjoyable time with mum and make some precious memories.
I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone, they truly are welcoming and attentive and we are forever grateful for the kindness showed to mum.

Pear Tree House

from Karen M (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
Very very sad to see mum at Pear Tree house today. It was 11 o clock she was struggling to eat cold scrambled egg, nearly edible beans and cold toast . She had not drunk some juice that had been left on a table to far away to reach.
Three pairs of pee soaked pants were in a fruit bowl and no brushes,
toothpaste or mouth rinse were in bathroom. There was black mold in the fridge and the overall standard of cleaning was very low.
Overall it was very disappointing, considering she has been classed a a sexual predator after being found in a man's bed after 'wandering'. None of this information has been related to me by staff. I realise I have to report this and am now hoping to move her. As far as I can see she has had little or no care socially, has attended no events and is left to her own devices. Please tell me seeing this with my own eyes it is not the case.

Woodland Court is a new recently opened building with very modern and clean rooms and communal facilities. My mother was placed here on 28 July, for an initial 2 to 4 week despite trial period. Mum was very reluctant with a closed mind but soon relaxed. Perhaps the best recommendation that I can give
is that Mum completely changed her mind within the first week and nothing a insists that she loves it here and does not want to live anywhere else. We have encountered teething problems regarding Mum's routines and washing which were addressed quickly to our satisfaction. The staff are very accommodating and helpful and there is a very cordial and calm atmosphere that is largely due to the care staffs attention and kindly manner. It's early days of course but I have confidence that once the organisation is fully functional my Mother is safe, well looked after and above all else happy.

What a fantastic carehome. This is a very special place, Orchard Manor feels like a family. Mum is totally at home with all her friends and pets living together. She is always out on trips or doing activity's.
This beautiful happy home has the most wonderful staff that make the residents their number

Dementia is tough on the family, but I have found peace knowing my Mum is in safe hands, which has change my life and lifted all the weight from my shoulders. Forever grateful to the Orchard Manor magic. X

The home is very clean and tidy and staff are pleasant and kind towards the residents. The home understands the needs to each resident and help them lead a normal life at a time in life that can be difficult for them and their families. All the staff from front of house to carers, cleaners, and kitchen
staff work hard and are understanding towards family members and make you feel very welcome to come and visit and stay as long as you like. 5 stars for a good service.

Orchard Manor

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Orchard Manor for over a year, after struggling to settle in two previous care homes in the local area. She settled very quickly and now enjoys many days out to garden centres, sightseeing and ten pin bowling to name but a few! The activities team and carers know
all the residents really well and have built a really friendly team.

Orchard Manor regularly put on both outdoor and indoor events, mainly based on foods from around the world, which both residents and family members can enjoy. We were worried when my mother-in-law first went to Orchard manor, as she had lost weight and would sometime turn away food, which has all changed over the past year.

We are really pleased and I would highly recommend Orchard Manor.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at Samuel House Care Home for two weeks and I must say, my experience was overwhelmingly positive. The accommodation was nothing short of excellent - everything was brand new, impeccably clean and well-maintained. It truly felt like a comfortable and welcoming
environment. The food provided was also a highlight of my stay. The menu offered a wide variety of choices and the staff were more than willing to adapt meals to suit individual needs, ensuring that everyone could enjoy their dining experience. What stood out the most, however, was the care staff. They were consistently polite and genuinely caring, always ready to assist. Whenever I pressed the buzzer, they responded promptly, making me feel valued and attended to throughout my stay. Overall, I highly recommend Samuel House care home for anyone seeking quality care in a pleasant setting. It exceeded my expectations in every aspect.

We are very happy with the care mum is receiving. The staff are caring, attentive , and fully understand mums needs. They are friendly , fun , and seem to bond well with their resident's.
The food is lovely, made fresh everyday by their chef, with a varied menu.
Everyday they have different
activities, from chair based excersis, to baking, painting, singing and outdoor games etc.
The home is very clean and modern with lovely ensuite bedrooms, lounges, dining rooms.
We couldn't have picked a nicer home for mum to spend her remaining time.

My Mum moved into Orchard Manor after living at another home she was unhappy at. I can honestly say this home has changed her life. She is very happy there as the staff are caring, respect her and are pretty amazing. My Mum loves the food, the room and the staff. I would recommend this home to anyone
looking for excellent care for their elderly loved ones.

The residents go out on excellent day trips, have singers visiting and varied activities so there is something for everyone.

Moving my elderly Mum was the best decision I have ever made, and to see my Mum so happy makes me so happy.

Visiting her is lovely as she has things going on all the time, and has lots to talk about.

I spent 2 weeks at Pear Tree House Care Home. I chose to stay there because my son, who is my carer, and his family needed a holiday. The 2-week stay at Pear Tree House certainly gave me a holiday and I would most certainly not hesitate to stay again.
