It was a very happy experience for me. I come from 3 weeks in 2 hospitals (in Portugal, private and here). I was greeted with warmth and shown to a beautiful room, which was to be my home for 2 weeks of recuperation. Staff come to mark my clothes and others to take me on a tour. Everywhere was beautiful
and staff so friendly. I felt at home. Food was tasty (too much), and I put on weight. I was sorry to leave, but will be in again if I need to. Would recommend.

My dad stayed at Samuel House for 2 weeks respite care. He thoroughly enjoyed his "holiday" and is keen to go back for another stay. Very welcoming atmosphere. His room was very clean and comfortable and he enjoyed spending time in the lounge and dining room. The food was fabulous and we were encouraged
to join him for meals. All the staff were very kind and welcoming and we found nothing was too much trouble for them. There were lots of activities planned throughout the day including a trip to the pub. The highlight of the stay was the staff. All very kind, hardworking and thoughtful.

Since Robert moved into Heatherton House Care Home at the end of September, I have seen some really positive changes in Robert. He is very happy and well settled. He is really enjoying all the activities, and he is enjoying the company of other residents and staff. Robert feels safe and secure here.
He benefits from routine and knowing all his meals and other needs are met. For Robert, his own ensuite is extremely helpful because of his personal needs. The cleanliness has also helped Robert to feel comfortable. Having an outside space for Robert to wander around and have fresh air, and meet the local cat, have also been a bonus.
Reply from Amy Batchelor, Customer Relations Manager at Heatherton HouseThank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. We're delighted to hear that your brother has settled in so well since moving to Heatherton House Care Home. It's wonderful to know he feels happy, safe, and supported, and that he is enjoying the activities, the company of other residents, and our team.
We're especially pleased that his ensuite room, the cleanliness of the home, and the outdoor space have helped him feel comfortable and at ease. Providing a calm, routine-based environment where residents can thrive is very important to us.

My lovely Mum came to stay in Samuel House while my partner & I had a short holiday. I was very nervous about leaving her, this was the first time since she has needed round the clock care. As soon as we arrived, we were both made so welcome, such lovely, friendly, caring staff. Mum's room was so
lovely, everything she could need was to hand. I unpacked for her & made sure she was settled & must admit I did shed a few tears when I left her. I felt confident though that she would be well cared for, & I had no need to worry. Mum couldn't praise the staff enough when I picked her up at the end of the break, she said to food was excellent too. I was very impressed with Samuel House, it's an extraordinary care home, we will definitely be using it again for all Mum's respite care. Thankyou so much to all the wonderful staff.
Reply from Amy Batchelor, Customer Relations Manager at Samuel HouseThank you so much for your lovely review and for trusting us to care for your mum while you took a well-deserved break. Our team will be delighted to know that your mum enjoyed her stay, especially the food! We're so pleased she felt comfortable and well cared for, and we look forward to welcoming her back to Samuel House again soon.

My brother has been here for a month now and has settled in well mainly because he has been welcomed and made to feel its his home. The staff are all so lovely and everywhere is so clean and well cared for. His bedroom is very pleasant as well. He looks clean and well looked after ie his hair, clothes
and nail and he's certainly well fed! They are always doing activities.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at Samuel House Care Home for two weeks and I must say, my experience was overwhelmingly positive. The accommodation was nothing short of excellent - everything was brand new, impeccably clean and well-maintained. It truly felt like a comfortable and welcoming
environment. The food provided was also a highlight of my stay. The menu offered a wide variety of choices and the staff were more than willing to adapt meals to suit individual needs, ensuring that everyone could enjoy their dining experience. What stood out the most, however, was the care staff. They were consistently polite and genuinely caring, always ready to assist. Whenever I pressed the buzzer, they responded promptly, making me feel valued and attended to throughout my stay. Overall, I highly recommend Samuel House care home for anyone seeking quality care in a pleasant setting. It exceeded my expectations in every aspect.

We are very happy with the care mum is receiving. The staff are caring, attentive , and fully understand mums needs. They are friendly , fun , and seem to bond well with their resident's.
The food is lovely, made fresh everyday by their chef, with a varied menu.
Everyday they have different
activities, from chair based excersis, to baking, painting, singing and outdoor games etc.
The home is very clean and modern with lovely ensuite bedrooms, lounges, dining rooms.
We couldn't have picked a nicer home for mum to spend her remaining time.

I am writing this review to express my sincere appreciation and deep satisfaction with the exceptional standard of care and service provided at Samuel House Care Home, Shipley Lakeside, where my precious mum has recently become a resident. From the moment we were introduced to the home, it became clear
that Samuel House is not just a care facility but a thoughtfully run and genuinely welcoming community that places residents and their families at the heart of everything they do.

The Care Home Manager has set a truly outstanding tone for the entire establishment. Her leadership is evident in every detail-from the high morale of the staff to the smooth, respectful, and compassionate way that care is delivered day and night. The Front of House Manager deserves equal commendation. From the warm welcome to the consistent professionalism in all interactions, they help create a sense of trust and calm for families and residents alike. Thank you to the whole team! You are doing an amazing job.

I recommend Heatherton House, specifically built and designed for comfort and proper care for elderly residents, modern facilities, beautiful decor, private rooms with excellent ensuite. Warm and welcoming. Staff are kind, professional, polite and supportive. Residents are relaxed and well attended.
Excellent laundry service. Lovely food, cooked on the premises, catering for all tastes. Excellent hairdresser! The beds are electrically adjustable - a bonus! Mum always looked clean and cared for. There was separate private rooms to meet visitors, nice quiet alcoves to relax in. A comfortable lounge, dining area, cinema, a piano room and nice outdoor area. Activities and trips out.

Dementia care
Dad has been a permanent resident of Heatherton House for 14 months. With the deterioration of his dementia (coupled with a chest infection that took him to the hospital) Heatherton House declined to allow him back into the care home. This surprised us, as the reason that we chose Heatherton
House, was because they promoted themselves as experts in dementia care. In our experience, the dementia care offered by Heatherton House seems to be limited and, when challenging behaviours were expressed, they seemed unable to cope. Furthermore, we were not kept fully informed of incidents that were later listed as reasons for terminating his residency.
On the day we came to collect Dad's belongings and medication, no one from the management team took the time to speak with us, to enquire how he was doing or to wish him well for the future. This was very disappointing and left us feeling that the management team lacked concern for his ongoing welfare.

Dad stayed for two week's respite and to get a taste for what a modern care home can offer. We were able to visit whenever we wanted and were made to feel very welcome. Dad said he couldn't fault it - it's very clean and comfortable, the staff are kind and attentive and the food is great. He could definitely
live there!

My mum arrived at Heatherton House following a 2 week stay in hospital and 3 weeks respite care elsewhere. It was an extremely stressful time for her. My family and I decided to take advantage of a respite care stay at Heatherton House for me in light of my arthritis and risk of falling while they were all away on holiday. I faced the prospect with trepidation but I need not have been concerned because it was like my own holiday as they had predicted.
I could not have waited for a more pleasant and friendly staff throughout management, carers, household staff and the chefs. There were busy delays in the mornings, but everyone received the help they needed to start their day. The house itself is comfortable, attractive and immaculate in every way. I will certainly return to Heatherton should the need return. Thank you.

She enjoyed the food. The care was outstanding, above and beyond, with friendly, smiley, helpful staff. She enjoyed some of the activities on offer, although she is 94 and very
happy to have her afternoon nap! We would have no hesitation in recommending Heatherton House and my mum has a return visit already booked in.

I placed my Dad here for 3 weeks restbite, I was a nervous wreck as it had taken ages to agree to a holiday with him there.
The home is of excellent standard with a lot of facilities within the price which although is expensive it isn't really any more expensive than others, and is just like a hotel.
My
Dad settled well and the staff were lovely to him, he has Altzeimer's so it was good to see him happy, the food was good and varied and wasn't restricted in any way, I could ring anytime to make sure he was ok and they sent me some videos of him joining in with the activities and even dancing with the staff.
Nothing was too much trouble and I feel they looked after my Dad as well as I could.
We are back in September for three weeks knowing he will be ok.
