Mum has been made very welcome & has settled in well. She's had a number of visitors who have also been made welcome & have enjoyed spending time with her over coffee & cake or even a midday meal. She's sleeping well & is enjoying the lovely food. She has messaged me each day to tell me what she's had for her meals. She's been invited to join in with a ladies lunch & there are lots of opportunities to join in with other social events. The staff are very friendly & helpful. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well she's adapted to being away from home & everything familiar. It's a testament to how well she's being taken care of.

Sarah, we can't thank you enough for your kind words. Your mum is an absolute Joy to be around and has the most wonderful sense of humour. We are so glad that she has adapted to this new way of life the way she has, it's a huge testament to her also. We love having you all here and we have no doubt that we will see you all soon in the Elephant Cafe for a cup of Tea and slice of cake soon.

I chose Priors for it's proximity to Hospital , for a 2 week stay after a hip replacement. I must say it was a brilliant decision.
I felt totally safe there, despite being suddenly pretty disabled; my needs were met by staff who saw and anticipated everything; both staff & residents made me feel welcome & I was treated with care & respect.
Despite the hardship some residents were experiencing, there was a happy atmosphere & enough laid on to occupy us, or peace with anything you want done for you, if you prefer. A wide range of people & needs were catered for.
The location is lovely, with a nice garden, the premises too, & food & cleanliness were good.
2 weeks passed in a flash, hard, yet leaving some happy memories.

I would recommend Priors.

My mum came to Priors House for the nursing care during her 8 month cancer treatment. The care and love she received was instrumental in her surviving her disease. I am eternally grateful for all the staff, everyone played a part in giving her the support and confidence she needed to fight cancer. I know without it, the outcome would have been different. The facilities are first class but the atmosphere and the cultivated caring environment makes this care home special. The attention to detail as regards her health and medication was very impressive and it was literally like she had her own personal doctor 24h a day. The home has dedicated entertainment staff who encourage the residents to participate and give them a purpose. The Elephant Cafe is a lovely place for socialising and get togethers. To say I recommend the home is an understatement. It has literally been a lifesaver. Many thanks Iain

I was going to give individuals a positive review but then I realised that I would have to include all staff. I cannot think of any one member of staff not worthy of a mention. Nothing is ever too much for any of them. The room was cleaned daily. I felt safe and secure during my 2-week respite stay. My whole family visited one time or another and the home was a very pleasant surprise to all of them. Many thanks.

My Dad was admitted to Priors House at short notice for nursing and palliative care. The team were so helpful on the phone and by email guiding us through the application. They quickly arranged a home visit for assessment which was caring and efficient. I went to visit before Dad was admitted and as soon as I walked through the door I knew it was a caring, happy and professional place. The team couldn't have been more caring and professional after dad was admitted. They were superb and a credit to the nursing and caring professions. Thank you.

Priors House is outstanding!
From May '25 to Feb '26 my mum was stuck in a spiral of hospitalisations. She would be discharged from hospital only to be readmitted a few days later, by ambulance, with a recurrence of the same symptoms. With each cycle her health deterioriated to new lows.
By Feb '26 it was clear that mum's care needs were more than one carer could cope with at home, and we needed a way to break the cycle of hospital admissions or accept that we were losing her.

Since moving her to Priors House in Feb, the transformation in my mother's wellbeing has been amazing. 3 weeks ago she couldn't get out of bed. Last week she went on a trip to a safari park. She is happier than I've seen her in months, eating full meals, getting stronger each day, mentally far more alert, and enjoying life! This is because of the fabulous care and positivity provided by Priors House. Whatever happens now, I know she will get the best possible care and attention. I am so grateful!

My Mother moved to Priors House from hospital this week and their efficiency made the move very easy and straight forward. She stayed at Priors House for respite several years ago and we were impressed by the care and facilities provided which is why my Mother was delighted to be able to now find a permeant place there. She has moved into a refurbished room with brand new fittings and furnishings

Mum has just moved to Priors House this week. During our tours, Sarah did a fantastic job answering all of our questions and showing us all of the facilities to help inform and reassure us. Once we decided that this would be the perfect home for Mum, her assessment was booked in within 24 hours and Mum was transferred within three days of this decision. Mum was not stressed on arrival and was greeted with positivity and a friendly smile. They had even provided a welcome basket of goodies for her, which was a lovely touch. Our Mum is genuinely excited to enjoy the facilities and all that Priors House has to offer

Just moved my mum-in-law into Priors House today. We had high hopes, having had previous experience with the team here, and we were not disappointed. Dad has just moved into Priors House and the whole experience has been fantastic. The team there are so professional and caring and have made the transition so easy for him. From the initial show round all the way through to his assessment and moving in we have been very impressed. Now that he's been there for 3 weeks we are even more impressed, Dad is loving the activity programme, he joins in with quiz's, singing, table tennis etc. The activity programme is very varied. We are very impressed with the nurses on the nursing unit who seem very knowledgeable and caring and understand Dads needs. The Management are equally impressive, we received a call last week to see if we are happy with everything and this apparently is done on a monthly basis to the relatives, it's fantastic that the management are checking in so they can understand that if there was an issue that they are aware of it. The ambience in the home is lovely and all the staff already know Dad by name. Really impressed!

We recently visited Priors House Care Home as we begin making arrangements for our mother, and we were shown around by the customer relations manager. From start to finish, she was absolutely wonderful - warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly reassuring.

We weren't rushed and felt she took the time to understand our family's situation and guided us through the home with genuine care and professionalism. All our questions were answered with clarity, giving us a full picture of what life is like at Priors House. It was clear the staff truly cares about the residents and is passionate about the quality of care provided.

What really stood out was how everyone made us feel at ease during what is, for many families, a very emotional and difficult time. Her empathy, patience, and thoughtful approach made a real difference to us.

Overall Experience

I have been helping a friend find and move into a suitable care home. The process of application and admission was handled with care and efficiency. My only complaint is the requirement to move in within a week of assessment - not enough time to get all personal items labelled. I do appreciate that they were reserving a very nice room for her. The moving in day was very stressful, as the admissions process is very thorough, but I understand that they need a detailed knowledge of her current state of health, and her needs. The best praise I can give is that my friend looked ten years younger when I saw her the next day. She is not always easy to please, but the caring, friendly and efficient staff, and the excellent facilities, have enabled her to settle in.

Francine SummersJob Title:Home Manager

I managed care homes before I joined Care UK and was even an area manager, overseeing a number of homes. I’ve also worked as a ‘turnaround manager’ – helping care homes to gain regulatory compliance – so I’ve lots of experience in care homes.

There’s a lot to do when you’re a home manager, but the best bit is having a coffee with the residents and chatting with them. When I can I also join in with activities because it’s wonderful seeing residents enjoying themselves – after all, that’s why we do what we do. I love seeing happy residents living fulfilling lives in our warm and friendly home.
