an agreed hourly charge for this service.

The staff at Priors House were unfailingly helpful, professional and caring during a very difficult time. The nursing staff were always available and prepared to listen to every small bit of input we gave. The liaison with their doctors’ surgery was excellent, and once in place, gave my aunt superb
care and attention, far exceeding anything she had been receiving in the community. Dealing with relatives and patients for end-of-life care requires a particular set of skills; the staff at Priors did an outstanding job from first contact to the final farewell. Thank you.

My mother arrived at Priors House on the 22nd of October 2021. Since she has been there she has come on so well, they take excellent care of her and give her so much TLC. All of the staff are amazing. I would highly recommend Priors House to anyone who is looking for a nursing or residential home.

A perfect balance of empathy and business-like manner. Priors House does not only look after the residents with care and compassion, but their expertise is a great help to us too - as we negotiate the difficult balance of our parents not wanting to lose their independence, yet being unable to manage
at home even with live-in care.
Mummy had stayed in Priors House several times for convalescence over the past few years. When her next stay was likely to be permanent the customer relations manager pulled out all the stops. Mummy was remembered and welcomed back like family by absolutely everyone. Her health fluctuated greatly, and the team just adjusted her care quietly as it was needed, keeping the family in the loop at all times. Sadly her last stay was all too short, but her care during this time was second to none.

Priors House is excellent, I cannot fault it. Everyone is so friendly and caring, you are never ignored. My mother was only there for a while with Dementia. She had to go to the hospital due to a fall, and she then went back to the home where sadly she passed away very peacefully. She was so well looked
after, could not thank the staff enough. Would recommend this home, the most welcoming place to be.

I am very happy with the care my mother is receiving at Priors House. The staff are fantastic. They take the trouble to get to know her, and care for her really well and I know she could not be in better hands. She speaks very highly of the staff and the care she receives.
As someone who has a particular
interest in food, she is not easy to please but speaks very highly of the chef at Priors House.
Unfortunately, through no fault of Priors House, activities have been constrained by the need for Covid restrictions.

The management displayed a perfect combination of empathy and business-like manner when I arranged for my mother to enter Priors House on what was likely to be a permanent basis in February 2022. The process (including special measures relating to the pandemic) was clearly explained and every effort
was made to help the family comply.


The admission went exactly as planned without unnecessary stress for my mother or any other member of the family. In the four weeks since then, she has settled well and is particularly impressed by the staff who are always cheerful and helpful. She will be staying for the foreseeable future. The family is relieved and grateful to have found Priors House.

Mummy has had several convalescences stays over the past few years and is always welcomed like an old friend by people she remembers. I did not think she would survive after her last hospital discharge when the doctors had all but given up. However, I was amazed at how well and speedily the team nursed
her back to almost her old self. As soon as she was improving they were encouraging her to get involved in all the activities, and even suggesting she may be happier in a room nearer the heart of things – which she loves.
It goes without saying that Priors House ticks all the boxes for a clean and comfortable Care Home with good food in nice surroundings, but the real reason to be there is the wonderfully kind, patient and compassionate staff, for whom nothing is too much trouble.

My mother spent just short of five years in the dementia unit in Priors House, departing in June 2021. We have been continuously happy with the standard and nature of the care she received. Whilst selecting a home, it is easy to judge the fabric and apparent fabric of the place and possibly the quality
of the food. The things that mattered most for me is how caring were the staff. Do the ones chosen for the dementia unit have the additional trait, beyond caring, of patience with people who often do not understand what is being communicated to them and could be a source of frustration to a carer; the confidence to readily share things that have gone wrong for one's loved one (a cut, a bruise, etc.); a willingness to discuss and consider options; effective organisation and leadership; and the disciplines that underpin good infection control? we were pleased with the team in Priors House and its parent group on all the counts I have listed. I have no hesitation in recommending this home.

Mum has been really well looked after during the 2 years she has been at Priors House. Her room is always clean and tidy and she has a lovely view over the fields. Even though she still can dress herself, her clothes are laundered regularly and she always looks clean and smart. There is a daily programme
of events which she likes to join in with and she particularly likes scrabble, dominoes and countdown, and still shows a competitive streak. She loves her food and really enjoys going into the Dining Room where she says the food is 1st class. On occasions when she hasn't been feeling too good, the staff will bring the food to her, and it is never any problem. She also loves being able to walk and sit in the beautiful garden when the weather allows.

My mother-in-law moved into Priors House in March 2020, what a great decision since she has blossomed under their care. It was a difficult time for us as lockdown happened as soon as she moved in but we were kept informed and sent photos of her progress, then the visiting room opened and we could see
her safely and to see her smile was brilliant. The staff are so caring and happy and the amount of time they spend on activities keeping them engaged and active. I cannot praise all the staff enough and it will be great to meet them all when allowed.

The team at Priors House have been amazing from my initial contact with them to the care of my godmother and even the kindness shown since her passing. They took the stress away from the process and allowed me to focus on my godmother and her wellbeing. My godmother was very insistent on going to Priors

I cannot speak too highly about the quality of care that my aunt was given during her two and half years at Priors House. She had a comfortable and spotlessly clean room and enjoyed the food very much. She was involved in lots of activities and taken out on trips - all things she could not do while
she lived alone at home. Her whole quality of life improved massively. All the staff were most friendly, caring and professional at all times, creating a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere in the home for both the residents and their families and friends. Above all, she was given friendship, support and lots of love. I could not have asked for more!

My mother died in October 2020 after 6 years at Priors House. She had been happy there and felt the staff, whilst treating her with respect, had become her real friends. She was very frail physically and very deaf and so could not join in to her own satisfaction with the many activities put on for residents.
The staff understood this and gave her plenty of companionships to offset the loss of social activity. Until her last year, when the cataract limited her reading, she enjoyed books and the mobile library delivered 20 large print books every month. She needed a lot of help with washing and dressing, and in her last 2 years, needed hoisting to stand up and be moved to the commode. The staff did all of this carefully and with loving patience. I thoroughly recommend Priors House with gratitude for all they did for my mother and to support me.

Having had to recently move my mum and step-father from another care home into Priors House due to funding issues, they are now settling in nicely in their new surroundings. I have to say that the management and staff of Priors House were exceptionally helpful throughout the move, which was not easy
due to Covid restrictions. I look forward to being able to visit the home in the not too distant future.

My husband had been a resident for eleven weeks at this stage. He had three dementias and the worsening of his condition was evident for all to see. I was kept informed at regular intervals and we discussed his care often. The staff were extremely attentive and caring. I was called at home to say they
were really worried about him. Next day they cooperated completely in enabling me to have him home for end of life care. I am a nurse and wanted to do this for him. We had four precious days together at home.

Job Title: Home Manager

I managed care homes before I joined Care UK and was even an area manager, overseeing a number of homes. I’ve also worked as a ‘turnaround manager’ – helping care homes to gain regulatory compliance – so I’ve lots of experience in care homes.


There’s a lot to do when you’re a home manager, but the best bit is having a coffee with the residents and chatting with them. When I can I also join in with activities because it’s wonderful seeing residents enjoying themselves – after all, that’s why we do what we do. I love seeing happy residents living fulfilling lives in our warm and friendly home.
