It is because I have always been well cared for at Priors House that I have returned here four times and now decided to remain her permanently.

My wife has been a resident since 5th August 2016 after suffering a stroke in March of this year. Spent 6 weeks in hospital and a few months in another care home. Not only myself but friends and relatives who have visited here have been astonished and pleasantly pleased with the home itself, the friendly service of the staff and quality of care. A common comment is "Just like a 5-star hotel".

A wonderful place for my mother to convalesce after her heart operation. The staff were amazing - so supportive, caring and kind. Nothing was too much trouble. Everybody had time to talk to mum and everything was done to make her feel at home. She loved the art classes and quizzes with the leaders being very encouraging.

After a knee replacement "opp" I had two weeks stay at Priors House where I was looked after beautifully. All the carers couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. Thank you.

Motivation to music is a good idea, it's the most popular activity. I enjoy the activities provided, because I'm still able to take part. The activities help people remember normal events in their past life.

Overall it was excellent with caring staff. I would single out the carers as being very helpful. The food was adequate, your wine mostly unavailable! dinner too early to accommodate staff. Cleanliness not adequate. Seven days no cleaner other than a carer with bleach and emptying bins. Despite comments, if necessary for a period, I would come again.

Dad has been here for 16 months now. He looks well and is always dressed well, and kept clean. Most of the time he is quite happy and sociable. Any downside could be caused by macular degeneration and deafness which isolated him by retreating into himself sometimes. He is asked to take part in activities which he does enjoy when he takes up the offer. He especially enjoys his visits to the pub. He seems to get on with the other residents and likes being spoilt by the staff. I never worry about his well-being and health issues are dealt with immediately.

Mum is very happy with the services that are delivered to her, all with very high standards and the only place mum wants to be is here at Priors House. Everyone is so friendly, she has made many friends and there is always something to keep her occupied.

Having visited regularly, I am always more then pleasantly surprised at the Home. The Staff are all very friendly and professional, the Home is spotlessly clean and well maintained.

The Home is well laid out, and the Facilities exceptional. I especially like the Cinema, Cafe, and the Shop which is a fully functioning shop with traditional sweets, scales etc.

The Cafe is very good for a complimentary Coffee/Tea.

Lots going on event wise and a good feeling about the place, my friend is always busy doing something, and that's a relief for us all as she was previously withdrawn and not involved in her previous home.

Cocktail party, 20th November 2015. The activities team arranged a cocktail party for residents and relatives. The social area was decorated with nice balloons and fitting colours for the event. It felt like a cocktail bar! The 'Rat pack' singer was absolutely superb. My mother even sang along and moved to the music. The food and drink was impressive with plenty on offer overall. What a great evening! Please do it again.

The first thing that struck me when I walked into Prior House was low light and how airy it was. It had the feeling of a smart but friendly hotel, with a welcoming café and very helpful receptionist. All the staff greet you with a smile and treat all guests with respect and kindness. My father was in for a weeks respite care but was treated the same as permanent residents. I ate lunch with my father one day and it was of a high quality home cooked meal, very appropriate for the people residing there and me! I would recommend Priors House in every respect to anyone thinking of living there.

The staff and facilities at Priors House are first rate and I would strongly recommend this care home to anyone. The whole of the care team ensured that my father had a peaceful and enjoyable few months at the end of his life. The team are always considerate, caring, responsive and struck up a real relationship with my father that really made his last months a positive experience. Being a new build, the home decor and facilities are excellent - parking can be problematic at times though. The restaurant food is of a good standard and they will always cater to personal tastes and requirements. There is an excellent coffee area for visitors that makes visiting a much more relaxed experience. My father was able to relax and let his responsibilities drift away so that his final weeks were happy and peaceful. It is clear that the staff really care about their charges and are not simply providing care 'by the numbers'. In summary, a recommended care home with an excellent and motivated team.

Francine Summers
Francine SummersJob Title:Home Manager

I managed care homes before I joined Care UK and was even an area manager, overseeing a number of homes. I’ve also worked as a ‘turnaround manager’ – helping care homes to gain regulatory compliance – so I’ve lots of experience in care homes.

There’s a lot to do when you’re a home manager, but the best bit is having a coffee with the residents and chatting with them. When I can I also join in with activities because it’s wonderful seeing residents enjoying themselves – after all, that’s why we do what we do. I love seeing happy residents living fulfilling lives in our warm and friendly home.
