When our Dad's vascular dementia suddenly accelerated we needed to find dementia care urgently. We found Priors House by using an internet search engine to search for 'dementia care in the local area' and were firstly drawn in because of the proximity to where our Mum lives (10 minutes drive away).
My brother made contact with one staff member in particular who was able to accommodate a visit the next day; she spent a lot of time showing my brother and sister-in-law around and they were incredibly impressed with what they saw. I then took my Dad for an assessment a few days later, and emotionally painful as this was, we were both made to feel very welcome and again, the staff member made plenty time for us and was so caring and understanding. Two days later, my brother and Mum took my Dad for an initial two week stay. Again, they were made to feel really welcome and my Mum was so reassured by the number of staff and their consistent kindness and compassion. It's a lovely place with excellent standards of care and professionalism
Reply from Sarah Mitchell, Reviews Team at Priors HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. Your kind and thoughtful words mean a great deal to the entire team here at Priors House.

We understand how difficult and emotional the decision to seek dementia care can be, especially when things change so suddenly. It was our privilege to be able to support you and your family during such a challenging time, and we’re truly glad we could offer some reassurance and comfort throughout the process.

It’s wonderful to hear that your family felt welcomed, listened to, and supported from the first contact through to your dad’s stay. We’re especially pleased that our team’s compassion and professionalism stood out—that’s exactly what we strive for every day.

Please know that your dad’s wellbeing continues to be our priority, and we are here to support your family however we can.

Il start with a very big thank you to all the staff . My mum could be and was very difficult with some of you . For this I apologise . You all showed compassion and respect for mum .I ate with mum a few times and enjoyed my meals ( often a sore point in care homes ) I especially liked the lady with
the tie and her tea trolley . Fantastic touch . I thought your activities for the guests was good and entertaining . Not only in getting people out of their rooms but to let them meet new friends and be social . From the ladies letting me in ,to the staff who had to deal with mum, everyone was polite , happy and pleasant .
getting a bit teary now so im going to say another thank you all.

Staff were wonderful with our mum in her last 6 weeks. She could be difficult but they dealt with her compassionately, indeed lovingly. Mum died peacefully and we are very thankful for that and for the nursing care provided. In the earlier weeks, when she could participate in activities, we saw photos
of mum looking truly happy. Again, we were very grateful for this.

Mum has been a resident at Priors House for 2 1/2 years, during this time the staff have been wonderful. The staff are very welcoming, from the time you step through the door. Mum has Alzheimer's, the team on Telford Suite fully understand her needs and personality. I have full admiration for all that
they do. There is always someone around to voice any concerns you may have.
The activity timetable changes weekly, the activity team work hard at keeping those who wish to partake entertained.
I am very grateful and appreciate everything they do. Thank you to all the staff at Priors House.

From initial telephone conversation regarding my mums respite following hip surgery and the initial journey from being shown around the home we knew we had found the right place for mum. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating to mums every need. Mum only went in yesterday but within the
hour, they had brought her coffee, cakes, showered and helped dress her, it was amazing, both mum and I felt very comfortable in everybody's presence. The carers always have smiles on their faces. Three members of staff in particular were amazing in securing a ground floor room for mum with a small patio. It is early days but I know that mum will be made to feel at home for her two weeks respite, the only concern we have is she may not want to come out!. Thank you everybody for making mum so welcome.

When we first got in touch by phone with Priors House, they immediately made us feel welcome. The CR Manager showed us around the same afternoon. We were very impressed with everything we saw and all the facilities.
My sister was admitted within a few days. The CR Manager was exceptional in making
everything happen smoothly, including a transfer from a London hospital.
The staff I have had contact with so far have been excellent and very helpful.

Mum attended Priors House for two weeks respite care. Although being nervous about her new surroundings and meeting the other residents and members of staff, she soon settled in.
The staff are fabulous and very caring, the care home lovely, that's why we chose it! Mum soon got to know plenty of residents
and there are lots of activities to keep everyone entertained on a daily basis. Relatives and friends are made to feel very welcome and part of the wider Priors House family.
I would thoroughly recommend.

My mother was recently discharged from hospital and there was no way that she could return to her Assisted Living flat . The process of moving Mum to Priors House went smoothly and not only Mum but the family were welcomed warmly by the staff. The staff here are outstanding and clearly take pride in
what they do - it shows!! Sadly mum is declining but there's no other place I'd rather she be than being looked after by this professional and dedicated team.

All of the staff at Priors House are exceptionally warm and caring. I always receive a warm welcome.
Today 21st March was a lovely celebration day. It was well organised and the staff, as always, ensured all of the residents enjoyed the afternoon. Fabulous food too! Nice to meet the new CRM who introduced
herself and asked for feedback.
Of course I have to give a special shout out for the staff on Victoria Wing who care for my Aunty. They are an incredible team of professionals. Thank you for all you do each and every day!

We moved both of my parents in to Priors House in December 2024. Mum needed end-of-life care for her cancer and Dad needed more day-to-day care for his dementia. I just have no words to describe how amazing this care home (and it's staff) are. They rescued us in our hour of need and showed unbelievable
care, professionalism and love from the moment that we walked in the door.

Having my Father put in two previous Care Homes receiving very poor care. I moved him to Priors House, Leamington, yes a lot of money but the value was extreme. All aspects of care, entertainment, medical care, reception, and office admin were 300%. I could not say enough to praise the carers. One carer
in particular was a diamond and worked well with my Dad who was causing trouble constantly with dementia. Already recommended Priors House to others.

Since my mother moved into Priors House in the summer, we have been very happy with the warm, welcoming environment and high standard of care. We have been particularly struck by the kindness and patience shown by all staff. Everyone with whom we've come into contact has been friendly and helpful, and
we are always greeted at reception by name and with a smile. The rooms could be a little larger, but the ensuite bathrooms are a good size. Everywhere is very clean. There are regular meals and snacks on offer throughout the day, and my mother particularly likes the hot chocolate in the free cafe downstairs. Various activities are available every day, and there is a well-maintained and very pleasant garden. We hope that there will be an opportunity for outings when the weather improves. We have no hesitation in recommending Prior House and are glad that my mother is living in such a safe and supportive home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.791)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.791) out of 10 for Priors House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.791 for Priors House is calculated as follows: ( (357 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 422 Ratings = 4.791
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Priors House is based on 36 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 36 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I managed care homes before I joined Care UK and was even an area manager, overseeing a number of homes. I’ve also worked as a ‘turnaround manager’ – helping care homes to gain regulatory compliance – so I’ve lots of experience in care homes.

There’s a lot to do when you’re a home manager, but the best bit is having a coffee with the residents and chatting with them. When I can I also join in with activities because it’s wonderful seeing residents enjoying themselves – after all, that’s why we do what we do. I love seeing happy residents living fulfilling lives in our warm and friendly home.
