Highmarket House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
From the moment my wife first entered Highmarket House for respite care all the staff and management introduced themselves to greet her which was a nice experience. Everyone gave her a very warm welcome without being overpowering. This gave her a nice understanding of what it could be like being away
from home.
Each member of staff explained who they were and advised her of what they could do for her. This ranged from from the Mangers right down to the handyman, receptionist, etc which put my wife at ease from day one.
Such a lovely greeting.
The home is so well placed for easy access and certainly meets with the family approval. The whole home is very pleasantly designed and decorated extremely well, and best of all it is kept spotlessly clean and tidy.
My wife's room is very spacious and fully equipped for her requirements.
The staff are all very caring and meal times are excellent. Choice of food is the best we have seen in comparison to other homes.

My mother in law was one of the first residents in cuttlebrook hall. She is very happy and settled there. Enjoys the activities and social functions. The food is varied and excellent. Birthdays and seasonal festivities are reflected in meals and cakes etc. The staff are very caring and we have no worries
about her safety and well being.

I can't thank or praise ALL the staff at Highmarket enough for the care they have shown both to my mother and myself for my mother's respite care. Not only caring but efficient, competent and compassionate. They worked tirelessly to get my mother discharged from hospital in a different county and
welcomed her warmly making her short stay a pleasant experience for both of us. She loved her room and thought she was in a hotel and not a nursing home! I was impressed with the whole set up and layout in the home, from security, laundry care, cleanliness, nursing care, personal care, meals, activities and managers all friendly yet professional. Most of all my mother was happy.

Falling a fall and deteriorating memory, Mum was in need of a care home. It felt like a huge decision and responsibility choosing somewhere for Mum. I am so thankful to the whole team at Cuttlebrook Hall for their support and amazing care. It feels like a real community and is obvious that everyone
who works there is caring, thoughtful and prepared to go the extra mile to make residents feel safe and happy.

Charlton Lodge is the most wonderful care home - my father in law has been here for a year now and it's transformed all our lives knowing his personal care and his pastoral care is so supremely excellent . It strikes the right balance being both a relaxed and happy home from home surrounded by a professional
caring team who really do care . I couldn't recommend Charlton Lodge enough. Oh and the lunches are great too ! Richard

We needed to find an urgent placement for mum who has dementia, following a fall and care at home that wasn't sustainable. The team went over and above to move my mum in within 3 days. Since then the care has been excellent and my mum has settled in well. The staff have taken the time to get to know
my mum in order to tailor her care and her likes and dislikes. The facilities and food are excellent as are the activities. It's a pleasure to visit her there knowing that she is in the best hands.

My mum stayed at Charlton Lodge for 12 nights while my husband & I went on holiday. Staff wre very welcoming & friendly. The home was very clean with good facilities and activities on offer. My mum seemed to enjoy her trip out for lunch and even had her hair done. Her visitors told me how well she looked
while she stayed. She liked the food. I'd be very happy for her to go again.

This was mum's second stay at Highmarket as she recovered from a stroke.
She loved her stay and for as much as she was keen to go home, she commented she would really miss the staff. In particular Luca and Alyesha who did so much to make her stay comfortable and relaxing.
Even though mum was following
a strict puréed food regimen, every effort was made to ensure she was offered enticing nutrient dense meals.
All in all a comfortable and most enjoyable 'holiday'.

Cuttlebrook Hall has been a very positive move for Mum. All staff members are professional, kind and caring. They have gone out of their way to make relationships with all of our family. We are all made to feel very welcome when we visit, and everyone clearly knows Mum well. Mum now participates in
a wide range daily activities on offer, which have enriched her life and raised her sense of well being. The food and facilities are exceptional. I would highly recommend Cuttlebrook Hall.

Millers Grange is a very welcoming Care Home in every way & we are very pleased that my sister Jean has been a resident since August.

It's the nicely laid out communal garden & each downstairs room having patio area with table & chairs & being able to walk around the complex for a little exercise

that is a bonus.

All the staff are very caring & understanding towards my sister who has dementia. It's really nice to see all the different activities that are provided for the residents to take part in as well as the lovely coffee shop.

I was fortunate to spend 2 weeks in respite care at Cuttlebrook Hall in June-July 2025. The weather was extremely hot at the time. I was amazed and delighted that in the afternoons ice creams and ice lollies were offered to all residents. The choice to decline was respected. I think this gesture by
the management team serves to illustrate the ethos I experienced at Cuttlebrook Hall, one that places the needs of each individual resident firmly at the centre of the thoughtful care on offer whilst respecting the choice to decline it. It was obvious to me that all members of staff, whatever their function within this community, knew their residents, not just their names but also their individual personalities and needs. Staff interaction with each resident was warm and kindly whatever the need. From my experience, the interaction of staff with each other was cooperative and supportive. I can honestly say that during my time in Cuttlebrook Hall I did not hear or overhear a cross word. I believe that positive interpersonal relationships are the foundation stones of any thriving community. The responsibility for establishing and sustaining such a community lies with the management team. It was obvious to me that the team at Cuttlebrook Hall was one of like-minded people with shared standards and a clear vision of what person-centred care delivered with warmth, reassurance and professionalism looks like. They are to be congratulated. Yes, undoubtedly, the beautiful environment at Cuttlebrook Hall has a substantial effect on the quality of life of the residents. However, buildings and interiors are impersonal and grow tired with time. Funding is needed for their upkeep. In contrast, the ongoing positive interpersonal relationships that form this community are longstanding. Sustaining such a community requires insight, flexibility, hard work and co-operation while keeping holistic person-centred care at its heart. What Cuttlebrook management team offers in this regard is priceless. Would I be happy to entrust Cuttlebrook Hall with the care of a vulnerable relative? Speaking from my own experience and observation of this homely community as it is at present, the answer is a resounding 'Yes'!

This amazing care home has been a lifeline to me during my husbands stay there for 8 months. They have given me back my husband as he was! He went in traumatised by several bereavements and poor mobility and he is so much improved in himself! He has been moved to another care uk home by social services-
the move was unsettling as everything was strange and new but I trust that he will have the continued excellent care there as he gets used to his new surroundings!

Mum has been in Cuttlebrook Hall for over a month now. The move went smoothly, everyone was welcoming and helpful.
Mum seems to be settling in slowly. There always appear to be plenty of friendly staff around to assist when needed.
Plenty of activities are on offer and Mum enjoys a pamper session
and being able to get her hair cut or just washed and blow-dried.
The rooms are kept in good condition and clean and Mum enjoys being wheeled around the garden areas which are well maintained.
Generally an enquiry at reception gets a helpful response and I'm impressed with the knowledge the Carers have of Mum and endeavouring to meet her needs in the best way for her.
It was a difficult decision to take, but I believe Mum is in the best place for her now and I can relax knowing she has 24 hour care.
