Review of

Harrier Lodge

from Sandra B (Daughter of Resident) published on 28 January 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
My father was transferred to Harrier Lodge from hospital as he needed end of life care. It was my family's decision in choosing Harrier Lodge as we were assured it had 24 hour nursing care, a requirement that the hospital said he needed.
Sadly, my father passed away after three weeks of entering Harrier
Lodge.
The whole experience here for my father and our family was abysmal, the end of life pain management was pretty non existent, my father needed to receive proper medication and a driver machine but they were unable to provide this in time before his death. Nursing care was inexperienced and only one nurse seemed to have any authority and knowledge.
This care home let my father down, he was made to feel that he was complaining incessantly and on two occasions his alarm alert buzzer was on the wall not by his side where it should have been.
Several staff were very patronising and we honestly don't believe they were fully aware of his medical needs. There was no compassion or dignity
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Harrier LodgeWe are very sorry for your loss and would like to offer our sincere and heartfelt condolences to you and your family. We recognise how difficult this time must be and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback regarding your father’s care at Harrier Lodge.

We are sorry to hear that you feel some aspects of his care did not meet expectations. Please be assured that your father’s comfort and wellbeing were always of great importance to us.

The safety and welfare of everyone in our care is our highest priority. We are sorry to learn of your concerns regarding call bell accessibility on two occasions. Matters such as this are taken very seriously, and we regret that your experience did not reflect the standards we aim to uphold. The importance of ensuring call bells are always accessible has been reinforced with the team.

Your feedback is very important to us, and we have taken it as an opportunity to further review our practices.
If you would like to discuss your father’s care in more detail, please be assured that the Home Manager would be happy to arrange to do this. Please do let us know.

With our deepest sympathies.

My father moved into Montfort Manor in December 2025 following a hospital admission and when it became clear he was struggling at home.
Given that trying up find a suitable care home place at short notice is very difficult my wife and I found Niki very welcoming and helpful in starting the process.
Once Dad moved in, all of the staff from reception and administration staff to the clinical staff have been so helpful and put dad at ease and made him feel welcome.
It's taking a bit of time for Dad to get accustomed to his new setting but the staff have made that process a lot easier.
The home itself is so well looked after, it is always clean and tidy and also smells nice.
I can't thank all of the team highly enough.
Reply from Niki Young, Reviews Team at Montfort ManorDear Guy
Thank you so much for your lovely review.

We look forward to continuing to support Dad and your family in the home.

After having had a very poor after care experience with the NHS I dedcided on two weeks respite at Montfort Manor. I feel I have made the right choice. Staff are very efficient, kind and considerate to all the residents no matter what condition they have have. Accomodation, food and entertainment, excellent.
Living in a complex of self catering flats I am certainly recommending a stay here to boost morale, confidence and well being should it every be needed.

My mum has been at Invicta Court for 4 years, she is well looked after and gives us as a family peace of mind. It's very difficult when your loved one has Alzheimer's disease, the person you know doesn't exist anymore as you know them and it's very difficult. I looked after my mum for 18months and it
was difficult, it wasn't until she went to Invicta Court that I realised it was ok to not have my mum with me, she didn't like living with me she wasn't aware I was her daughter. When she first went to Invicta she thrived it was like having her back again, she was looked after so well, she was happy being there and the carers became her family. It was the best thing we could have done for our mum. She has no capacity now and has no mobility, but she's happy and that's is down to the carers and nurses at Invicta Court.
Reply from Jaime Jukes, Reviews Team at Invicta CourtHi Michelle, thank you so much for sharing this. We know how incredibly difficult the Alzheimer’s journey can be, and we’re truly honoured that Invicta Court has been able to support mum and bring your family peace of mind. Knowing she is happy and well cared for means everything and your kind words will mean so much to the whole team.

I moved my mother into Weald Heights in November 2025. The staff took a lot of time to make sure they understood her, particularly her likes and dislikes and her medication, before she moved in. She settled into the home very quickly and made friends easily. I am confident that staff know her well and
treat her with great kindness and empathy. She is happy in the home and says she feels secure and cosy there. I feel a huge sense of relief knowing that she is being well looked after. I visit regularly and I enjoy my visits because I can see how happy she is

The team and facilities at Invicta Court have exceeded our expectations. We faced the unfortunate situation of my father being taken seriously ill and needed to arrange palliative care at short notice. Fortunately there was a space available and after a quick engagement process with Jaime and the
team, we were able to move Dad from the hospital into the care home. They have liaised brilliantly with both the hospital and hospice, and the staff give Dad the comfort, care and support he needs at this difficult time. The whole family knows that he is in good hands.
Reply from Jaime Jukes, Reviews Team at Invicta CourtHi Gavin, thank you so much for taking the time to share this thoughtful review. We’re truly grateful for your kind words.

It is our privilege to be able to support Dad and your family during such a difficult and emotional time. I’m glad we could make the transition from hospital as smooth as possible, and it means a great deal to know that you feel confident in the care and comfort he is receiving.

Your father is in very caring hands, and our whole team is committed to making sure he feels supported, safe and well looked after. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any member of the team if there is ever anything more we can do.

Sending warmest wishes to you and your family.

Dad has been at Weald Heights for a year and is so happy there. Every staff member is kind, caring and professional. They make Dad feel valued, supported and safe. He is treated with great dignity and, given his dementia, is positively thriving. He enjoys visits to the café and devours the amazing homemade
cakes. He spent most summer afternoons sitting outside in the patio garden, enjoying interacting with family, other residents and visitors. The entertainments are very good. Dad particularly benefits from the one-to-one therapies. The staff have taken over Dad's medical care and appointments, but still involve the family in all medical discussions. Communication is excellent and they phone us immediately if there are any issues. Weald Heights has made us all feel part of its wider family, and the staff support all of us through their wonderful care for Dad and their great kindness to us. Congratulations to Maria and her team, and thank you to all of you. You are outstanding.

My mothers last 8 days of life in this care home were far from satisfactory and the family should not have experienced what we did. I would suggest they give their staff training in end of life care.
Prior to this there were a lot of staff changes and perhaps they should have more training before they
are able to deal with the residents.

We have over an hours journey to visit our sister in law who has been a resident for nearly six years, when we arrive we are always greeted with a warm smile from both the lovely receptionists, and also the coffee machine and cakes are very appreciated. As always our sister in law is perfectly dressed
and looks lovely, she was always very particular about her appearance and this is so nice to see, even with her dementia, we hopefully think she now and again feels it, this is down to the amazing staff in her care. Also a mention to the wonderful hairdresser. Weald Heights in our opinion is exceptional and the award they received confirms this.
