9.6 Weald Heights Care Home has a Review Score of 9.6 (9.581)

The Review Score of 9.6 (maximum of 10) for Weald Heights Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Weald Heights Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.831 for Weald Heights Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (120 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 142 Ratings = 4.831

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Weald Heights Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 16 positive Reviews (80 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 12 Reviews ÷ 16 Target = 0.750

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My dad had to go into emergency respite care after my mum, his main carer, had an accident. Everyone was so kind to us all as a family and really went out of their way to accommodate my dad at very short notice. He has settled in so well and seems very content. This is all due to the wonderful care and attention he has received at Weald Heights. I never leave my dad feeling sad. Weald Heights is a very positive environment and that is wonderful for the residents and family and friends.

I have found everybody here kind and helpful. I know I am a difficult client but everybody does everything to help me. During the weekend I think we could use more staff.

Samantha Debenham, Marketing Support Administrator at Weald Heights Care Home responded to this review on 16 Nov 2017:

We’re grateful for your feedback and are delighted with the positive comments for the care and support we provide. I would like to assure you that our levels of staffing are always suitable to meet the needs of all our residents seven days a week, and also overnight, to ensure we’re always providing high levels of both care and activities. To put your mind at ease, the staffing levels at weekends are the same as during the week, although there is less administration staff on duty during the weekend. We do take your concerns and feedback seriously and would like to thank you for taking the time to share your views - we will arrange for a manager at the home to get in touch and discuss this further with you in person

Weald Heights is well-designed and with its wide corridors and spacious rooms it is a lovely place to visit. My mother likes the food and the staff are caring and friendly.
Our main - and only - concern is that my mother wonders if there are enough staff. They seem to work twelve-hour shifts and often my mother has to wait quite a while before someone is available to come and help her. She doesn't like to ring for help too often, but there are things she is just unable to do by herself.
She likes routine; so if for example, she knew that breakfast/getting dressed/having a bath happened at certain set times, she probably wouldn't feel she was waiting quite so much.
The staffing issue is the only area in which I think Weald Heights could improve. I don't mean to sound complaining, as everything else is lovely.

Samantha Debenham, Marketing Support Administrator at Weald Heights Care Home responded to this review on 15 Nov 2017:

Many thanks for your review, we’re really pleased to hear you think the facilities, food and safety are of an excellent standard. The staffing rota at Weald Heights often runs above the industry average, even though on occasion we do have sickness, however, in these instances we always do everything we can to ensure that it is covered. To put your mind at ease, the staffing levels at weekends are the same as during the week, although there is less administration staff on duty during the weekend. We welcome use of the call bell by all residents, and carer response times to the bell are monitored on a weekly basis to ensure that they are answered in a timely way.

Each day at Weald Heights is tailored to every individual, so mealtimes and personal care happen when the resident wants it to. There’s a cook to order service so every resident has the choice of freshly cooked meals, served when they want them. If your mother’s preference is to have set meal times, please do get in touch and we can do our utmost to plan these in.

Weald Heights is a friendly, welcoming, truly caring home. It is beautifully furnished, kept spotlessly clean. There is plenty going on and residents can enjoy the company of others. Mealtimes are social and the food varied and tasty. The staff are professional, kind and caring.

My mother stayed at Weald Heights for a fortnight while we were away on holiday in June. I was very impressed with the level of care and consideration taken during the care assessment and the preparation for her short stay. Mum was very well looked after and the staff took great care to get to know her and her needs even though she was only staying for two weeks. It was a great relief to me to know she was in such good hands and enabled me to have a relaxing break. The staff were welcoming and very friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, in fact, I already have!

Dad came to stay at Weald Heights last July. When he arrived he was scared and uncertain of his future.
After three or four weeks of caring from the Weald Heights staff plus a slight change to his medications, Dad is now very happy with his situation, always smiling when I come to visit with Gromet the dog!

My father, who has early stage Alzheimer's and vascular dementia, stayed at Weald Heights on their dementia floor for two weeks respite care while we were away on holiday. I can't praise the staff enough for the sincere care and kindness. Dad was encouraged to join in several activities, which I never thought he would do. Although he was nervous about staying he really enjoyed himself. His overall well-being has improved and I can honestly say that it was a positive experience for him. The staff keep you informed at all times, even sending photographs of Dad. Nothing is too much trouble. Dad will eventually need full-time care and we will have no hesitation in moving him to Weald Heights.

Mum is very frail, elderly and needs a lot of reassurance, care and support. She has lived at Weald Heights for 3 months and in that time she has received very personalised, great care from committed, caring, professional staff. The home is very comfortable and fitted out to a very high standard. The staff go out of their way to make Mum comfortable and let her live the life she wants, given her frailties.

For the moment my mother moved into Weald Heights, she has been welcomed. Treated with respect and courtesy by a very friendly group of staff, who have encouraged her greatly. From her room to meals, entertainment, and the ambience of Weald Heights. I could not ask for more.
I feel that now my mother is more settled and appears happy, thanks to all the staff, it is an enormous relief to me and my family.
