My mother has Dementia and became a resident at Weald Heights Care Home in December 2017. She has been made to feel very welcome by all the members of staff. All the rooms are clean, light and airy.
The care and concern from all members of staff has been excellent both to my mother and our family.
Weald Heights has a warm and friendly atmosphere and there is always a variety of different activities for the residents and families to take part in. My mother has enjoyed in so many different activities and outings in her short time there.

As a family, we are reassured that Mum is happy and well cared for.

Seeing a relative enter a care home is never easy but the warmth and friendliness of the staff, from the manager to the housekeeping team, made this an easy transition. Weald Heights is a calm and restful home and my mother has settled in well. In the family's opinion, our mother could not be better looked after or in nicer surroundings.

My father moved into Weald Heights at the end of April 2018 and I have been extremely impressed with how the home is run. The staff are always polite and friendly and I have nothing but praise for how my father has been looked after in the time that he has been at the home.

Following advice from a friend, who went and looked at Weald Heights as I was in hospital/spent three weeks convalescing in room 19 on the ground floor. Needed "medical/nursing" assistance to begin with, and then just the rest of my elevated leg following major surgery, to rebuild a smashed ankle. Could not recommend Weald Heights and all the staff more highly. Even laid on a super lunch for my family to join me on Easter Sunday!

Was made to feel welcome by the staff. The room was lovely with good facilities. Weald Heights is more like a 5-star hotel than a care home. My father settled quickly. He enjoyed the entertainment on Monday as did the other residents in the room. I love the thought that has gone into the decor of the Dementia wing, and the set up for their residents who like to wander and fiddle with things, they can with no bother. Overall a lovely place with excellent staff.

When your Mum needs to move into a Care Home it's a scary time and you want the very best of everything for her. I have yet to find anything to fault with Weald Heights - the rooms, facilities, activities, food, care, atmosphere are all excellent (and consistently so!). But it's really all about the staff: they are all fantastic - they really go beyond just providing for Mum's needs and really seem to recognise that this is now Mum's home, not just a place she is staying at. And, friends and family are always welcome at any time.

Weald Heights really has given me the peace of mind of knowing that my Mum is in a good place where she will be cared for, lead a full and active life and make friends (among the staff as well as other residents!).

Weald Heights Care Home we feel is the best home our mother could be in. Without exception every member of the nursing team, the carers, administration and cleaners treat my mother with great respect, kindness and sensitivity. We know she is in capable and supportive hands and so we are relieved and happy that she is there.

Whilst the overall standard of care is good, I have found it difficult to have a joined up conversation regarding my mother’s care. When I did organise this, the agreed follow up did not happen.

Weald Heights is a lovely caring place. Nothing is too much trouble and all the staff are focused on "going the extra mile".

The activities are excellent - interesting and varied. My mum often says how much she laughs and is very happy and settled. I have been very impressed with the responsiveness of staff to any queries or requests. The food is of excellent quality - some more themed meals (like the Greek Day) would maybe be welcome. Moving to residential care is a big step for everyone involved but Weald Heights have made the whole thing a positive and rewarding experience - thank you!

Mum has settled in well at Weald Heights and it is good to know she is safe and being looked after. All staff are kind and patient with mum (and with me!) and have managed concerns mum initially felt well. Activities are spot on and know mum enjoys taking part in these.

As the building is new, it was a very pleasant, light and clean place. Staff were all friendly and the tea area was good to relax. But when my husband came home, he was dehydrated and not well. I'm sure they did their best to look after but obviously, he is not well since he came home after staying through for 2 weeks. So, I wonder if there was enough staff to look after the residents.

Weald Heights is well-designed and with its wide corridors and spacious rooms it is a lovely place to visit. My mother likes the food and the staff are caring and friendly.
Our main - and only - concern is that my mother wonders if there are enough staff. They seem to work twelve-hour shifts and often my mother has to wait quite a while before someone is available to come and help her. She doesn't like to ring for help too often, but there are things she is just unable to do by herself.
She likes routine; so if for example, she knew that breakfast/getting dressed/having a bath happened at certain set times, she probably wouldn't feel she was waiting quite so much.

The staffing issue is the only area in which I think Weald Heights could improve. I don't mean to sound complaining, as everything else is lovely.

Many thanks for your review, we’re really pleased to hear you think the facilities, food and safety are of an excellent standard. The staffing rota at Weald Heights often runs above the industry average, even though on occasion we do have sickness, however, in these instances we always do...

Dad came to stay at Weald Heights last July. When he arrived he was scared and uncertain of his future.

After three or four weeks of caring from the Weald Heights staff plus a slight change to his medications, Dad is now very happy with his situation, always smiling when I come to visit with Gromet the dog!

My mother stayed at Weald Heights for a fortnight while we were away on holiday in June. I was very impressed with the level of care and consideration taken during the care assessment and the preparation for her short stay. Mum was very well looked after and the staff took great care to get to know her and her needs even though she was only staying for two weeks. It was a great relief to me to know she was in such good hands and enabled me to have a relaxing break. The staff were welcoming and very friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, in fact, I already have!

Maria Covington
Maria CovingtonJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2016

I’m a registered nurse by training and have worked in older people’s care for 25 years. Before joining Weald Heights in 2016, I had managed a large care home for ten years. I’ve been at Weald Heights since before it opened its doors. I’m delighted at the way my team and I have made it a home with a first-class reputation.

I believe in setting the standard, rather than following, and we take an innovative, personalised approach to resident care. When residents said they fancied learning a new language, we set up Spanish lessons and joined with a local parent and toddler group so that the generations could learn together. And when a gentleman, who is a keen musician, wanted to visit the Royal Albert Hall for his 90th birthday, we worked with his family to make it happen and to give him an unforgettable day.

I was delighted with our ‘good’ rating from the CQC, which we gained in September 2018. I’m now looking forward to continuing to work with my skilled and passionate team to go one better. Our aim now is to become an ‘outstanding’ provider of great care for older people in Sevenoaks, and across Kent and the South East of England.
