My sister has been a resident in Weald Heights for fifteen months and we have been very happy that she is well cared for. The last couple of months have been very difficult for everyone but the staff have excelled themselves, not only caring for my sister but keeping us informed and connected with her
by face time etc. I feel she couldn’t have been in a better place at this horrible time.

I have only been able to visit my stepmother once before the lockdown but I found the home to be very clean and well presented and the staff to all be very helpful, kind and interested in what was best for her care.
Most of my dealings so far have been over the phone and have always been very positive.
The team dealing with the finances has been very helpful and efficient throughout.

From the moment I visited Weald Heights, the whole atmosphere and care team just blew me away. It’s such a breath of fresh air to see a home that completely contradicts any stereotypical images of boring, depressing, fuddy-duddy institutions. The furniture is bright and cheerful, the food fresh and
appetising and most importantly every single member of staff is kind, patient and fully committed to each and every resident, no matter how challenging their needs. One of the lovely carers once said to me, I treat your mum-in-law as if she were my 'own mum’ and that really resonated with me and rings true. It’s not an easy decision to move someone you love so much into a home, but Weald Heights do everything to make it a real home from home, and we so appreciate it. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We chose Weald Heights as a care home for my dear mum as we were so impressed with the genuine care, the spotless environment, the light, bright rooms, the range of activities, the open, welcoming atmosphere and the quality of the food.
Mum took a while to settle and during this time, the staff could
not have tried harder to make her feel at home. The communication with us was, and continues to be, excellent and it was clear that her individual needs and happiness were paramount. Mum needs a range of support and eventually, it was decided that she should change floor as the environment would be more appropriate. This has certainly proved to be the case.
We are so grateful and appreciative of all the staff - residents are all treated with genuine compassion, care and respect (and a sense of humour!). Nothing seems to be too much for them.
I would recommend Weald Heights to anyone looking for a caring, safe environment for a loved one.

My mother was admitted to the home for respite residential care in late January, and received an extremely warm and personal welcome on arrival. Her room was comfortable and well-equipped. During her four week stay, she was well cared for and encouraged to mobilise, socialise and participate in activities.
She enjoyed the food enormously and gained strength physically over that period. The team leaders were always available to talk to me, either in person or when I phoned and gave helpful updates on my mother's situation. One, in particular, was especially reassuring when I expressed concerns about my mother's confusion. The care staff seemed to genuinely care, and the administrative staff were also helpful and efficient at all times. I would be happy to recommend Weald Heights to anyone considering it.

Weald Heights recently organised a 96th birthday party for my Mum who has been a resident for a year. The attention to detail and care put into it reflects the overall philosophy of a truly caring home. The events team, in particular, should be proud of their continued cheerfulness and organisational
skills.

Beautiful care home, very modern, bright and with many facilities. The staff are lovely, very welcoming, warm and compassionate. The home has an excellent entertainment/activities team with something on every day and they would make sure that everyone was invited and encouraged to join in if they so
wished. I was very impressed with mums accommodation which was of a very high standard. The food was also very good with a varied menu to suit all. Overall, we were extremely happy with mums care at Weald Heights and would recommend highly.

Our mother needed to enter a nursing home at short notice. Fortunately, we had already visited several homes in the area, including Weald Heights which was one of the two on our shortlist. When we needed to move we re-visited the two lead options and Weald Heights was the unanimous choice of my mother,
brothers and I. We have not been disappointed. The staff provide excellent, compassionate nursing support and personal care, and are very attentive. All the staff are genuinely warm and friendly. Mum's room, and the whole nursing home, is clean and has lots of natural light. The food is very good. A wide range of events and entertainments are provided. The location in central Sevenoaks is convenient for us and provides pleasing views of the surrounding trees. Highly recommended.

The decision of care home for a parent, in particular one with dementia, is a challenging one on many grounds, including emotional. My mother has now been at Weald Heights for c 18 months and as a family, we are all very happy with our decision.
The home itself has a lot of positive features. New,
well designed, bright and with a lot of facilities (don't underestimate the benefit of a proper hairdressing room). Staff are well trained, treat my mother with respect and most importantly caring. Like all care homes, there is occasional turnover of staff but this seems under control and most of the staff have been there since Mum arrived.
Activities are a key part to the home and excellent. Varied, well thought through and delivered with unbridled enthusiasm by all the activities team.
You set very high standards for the care of a loved one and no home is able to constantly deliver to that standard. Any issues have been dealt with promptly and efficiently by the team at all levels.

I visit my mother every three months, and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. All the staff, including those who must be fairly new, cheerfully greet my mother as we wheel her through the home. The staff contact me whenever there is a problem, and I am happy that I am kept informed about developments.
There
always seems to be plenty of activities happening at the home and in the local area that residents can participate in, even where they have mobility difficulties.
The only minor issue is that the turnover of staff, although I suspect this is a problem in the entire sector. The key staff that I deal with have not changed over the last year, which is helpful.

Weald Heights has been a home for my mother for the past 2 years. She has been cared for extremely well and with great kindness. Transferring from a home you have lived in independently for many years to a care home is very hard for all residents. The staff helped to make that change as easy as possible
for my mother although she finds the loss of independence and privacy quite hard even now. The size of the home is perfect for her, not too vast and daunting and although she suffers with mobility problems it’s easy to get from A to B. The activities in the home are great and provide an opportunity for the residents to mingle and make friends. The staff are always friendly when you visit and very approachable if you need to discuss anything at all.

My dad has been in Weald Heights for 2 years and it is now his home. The care he receives is wonderful and everybody treats him with respect and he is shown such kindness. My mum would love to look after him herself but as this isn't possible this is definitely the best option. There is a positive cheerful
feeling when you enter and we are always greeted by the lovely reception staff. Not only do the carers look after my dad but also my mum when she visits on her own. Everyone is so friendly. Dad's room is always spotless. I can't recommend Weald Heights enough.

My Mother has been a resident for 2 years having lived independently until widowed.
It was a huge change for her to move to residential care and as a rather shy person, it was a challenge for her to integrate with a new community. This has been achieved to a large extent due to the personal interest
shown by the care staff, the thoughtful and responsive management and of course the proximity to her immediate family. She has been able to maintain her privacy while still enjoying communal meal times and her choice of the very varied activities on offer. The relaxed and informal atmosphere facilitates unrestricted visits from family and encourages a sense of belonging for all. The facilities are fresh and attractive and often draw comparisons with a 5-star hotel! Overall our family has been very satisfied with the choice of care for our lovely Mum.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.828)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.828) out of 10 for Weald Heights is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 57 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.828 for Weald Heights is calculated as follows: ( (575 Excellents x 5) + (76 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 667 Ratings = 4.828
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Weald Heights is based on 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 56 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2016

I’m a registered nurse by training and have worked in older people’s care for 25 years. Before joining Weald Heights in 2016, I had managed a large care home for ten years. I’ve been at Weald Heights since before it opened its doors. I’m delighted at the way my team and I have made it a home with a first-class reputation.

I believe in setting the standard, rather than following, and we take an innovative, personalised approach to resident care. When residents said they fancied learning a new language, we set up Spanish lessons and joined with a local parent and toddler group so that the generations could learn together. And when a gentleman, who is a keen musician, wanted to visit the Royal Albert Hall for his 90th birthday, we worked with his family to make it happen and to give him an unforgettable day.

I was delighted with our ‘good’ rating from the CQC, which we gained in September 2018. I’m now looking forward to continuing to work with my skilled and passionate team to go one better. Our aim now is to become an ‘outstanding’ provider of great care for older people in Sevenoaks, and across Kent and the South East of England.
