My mum has only been in the care of Weald Heights for a few weeks but has settled in very well.
The real stars of the home are the lovely, friendly nursing and care team who go above and beyond to look after the residents. My mum has been cared for consistently well with dignity and compassion which
has been incredibly reassuring for her family.
The home itself is spotlessly clean, homely and a comforting place to be.
The food is okay on the whole, with lots of choices. The staff work hard to accommodate particular needs and dietary requirements.
There is an activities schedule every week which my mum has started to join in with. It's nice to encourage residents out of their rooms and the weekly activities are a fun way to do this.
We are yet to explore the outside garden spaces but they look well landscaped, with seating etc. Hopefully, I can take my mum into them in the Spring.
Overall my mum is happy and content living at Weald Heights.

The team at Weald Heights were brilliant during the course of my father's respite period. Right from our initial contact with the customer relations manager, the service we received was excellent.
They were caring, thoughtful and efficient. As a family, we felt very confident and reassured that Dad
was in good hands. The team leaders were great and always had time for us when we needed it.
We highly recommend Weald Heights to anyone - it really is a home from home.

From the moment I contacted Weald Heights, I felt Dad was in safe hands and the pressure was taken from me. The staff were amazing - as I had looked after Dad I was very particular about the way he was looked after and the staff always went out of their way to accommodate my and Dad's requests. Not
just the nursing staff but the maintenance men were brilliant too - hanging his pictures, moving furniture etc to make Dad's room very much his home.
Unfortunately, Dad passed away in October 2021 due to 'frailties of old age'. The kindness and care that the nurses and carers showed to Dad were exceptional. In his final week, we were able to be with him constantly. As a family, we were equally cared for and shown so much compassion and understanding and were informed of every aspect of his care. We could not have asked for a better end of life and I truly believe the care the whole family was given has helped us enormously come to terms with his passing.

My mother has been a resident at Weald Heights for over three years now. Since this is the first care home she went to, we were initially apprehensive about whether we had made the right decision. Mum herself was adamant she was not going to a care home. Fortunately, Weald Heights is not like your typical
care home and Mum does not see it as one. Persistent physical and emotional issues that Mum faced before she moved in have been significantly alleviated or eliminated and she seems much happier too. It's obviously been difficult with Covid but the staff are excellent and I have great peace of mind knowing that Mum is well looked after. When we were researching care homes, we visited many other places and Weald Heights was the only one that ticked all the boxes for us - we would have no hesitation to recommend to other people too.

My father initially moved to Weald Heights as part of a respite stay. The aim was to make an informed view as to whether he would enjoy living there in the future. Unfortunately, he had an unexpected health issue which meant he required hospital treatment. However the staff at Weald Heights were excellent
and nursed him back to health. Management were very supportive, and allowed him to stay as long as he needed in order to recuperate from surgery. Overall my father enjoyed his time at Weald Heights and he was grateful for the kindness and care shown by the team.

My mother has now been a resident at Weald Heights for just over three months and her health and wellbeing has improved significantly. She initially moved to Weald Heights having been very unwell in hospital, but quickly improved once she settled in. Her health then deteriorated again, but with the
fantastic care, expertise and patience shown by the care team, she has bounced back to great form. My mother is so happy and settled there now. The food and all-around care is excellent. The activities laid on for the residents is fabulous - I've not seen my mother laughing and smiling so much in a long time. Ordinarily, my mother would have been very resistant to 'institutional living', but she is thriving in the social, friendly environment, especially after the isolation of lockdown living. The staff are so much fun and very accommodating, always going the extra mile, whilst being very respectful towards all the residents. We would have no hesitation in highly recommending Weald Heights to others.

I have been very happy with the care my mum has received at Weald Heights. The staff have gone out of their way to accommodate my mum’s needs including a period when Mum was having a very difficult time understanding what was going on in her surroundings. The care given during this period went beyond
what would normally have been expected and made things a lot easier for the family seeing Mum being so well looked after. Thankfully Mum has improved immensely and is enjoying the activities and social side of the home and has a lovely group of friends in the other residents. When we were forced into the decision that Mum needed to leave her home and have specialist care my sister and I looked at a large number of care homes but it was obvious that Weald Heights gave that little bit extra and we are very happy we made that decision. If you are looking for your own family member I would put Weald Heights at the top of places to visit.

My 95 year old father became a resident here in November 2020, and as I live in Dorset I have not had a chance yet to visit him. However, I'm in constant touch with the care home staff and am thoroughly delighted with the care they are taking of him. I have absolutely no concerns about his ongoing welfare,
and the staff frequently go over and above their duty of care to keep him, and the rest of the residents, as happy and healthy as they possibly can. Communication from the staff is also impeccable.

Mum is well looked after, seems contented. In difficult circumstances, the carers helped to celebrate our daughter's wedding with mum, setting up an afternoon tea. It was very special for us to have photos with her, as she was unable to attend the wedding day. Mum was obviously happy to see the family.

Mum has always been cared for at Weald Heights with the utmost kindness and dignity. The staff are wonderful with her, particularly during this difficult year when we have not been able to visit. Members of staff went out of their way to ensure we had regular contact with Mum and on video calls where
possible. I have no hesitation in recommending Weald Heights to those suffering from dementia and their families.

My 96-year-old father received outstanding nursing care at Weald Heights for nearly one year. Within that time, he was beautifully and lovingly cared for by the wonderful staff. He enjoyed the good food and the company (particularly the staff) and he appreciated all the care and attention given to him.
He especially enjoyed time with the activity coordinators who brought much enrichment to his day to day life. In his final weeks, he benefitted from additional support from the local hospice and the care home staff carried out his care with dignity and respect. Overall, he was very happy at Weald Heights and that gave his family and friends much reassurance.

Since my mother moved to Weald Heights some 2 years ago, she has received excellent care. The staff always go the extra mile to ensure that her needs are catered for, and that she receives the care she needs. Mum was initially very unsettled but she was given additional time to ensure that she felt
more able to interact with the other residents. She is also able to take part in activities. Throughout the Covid pandemic, the management and staff have worked hard to ensure the safety of the residents and that relatives are able to visit. I would recommend Weald Heights.

Very nice facility and caring staff. It is a real shame there is no garden or anywhere on the grounds for residents to go out to for a walk and get some fresh air. Food could certainly be more tasty and appealing.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.855)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.855) out of 10 for Weald Heights is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 57 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.855 for Weald Heights is calculated as follows: ( (595 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 669 Ratings = 4.855
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Weald Heights is based on 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 56 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2016

I’m a registered nurse by training and have worked in older people’s care for 25 years. Before joining Weald Heights in 2016, I had managed a large care home for ten years. I’ve been at Weald Heights since before it opened its doors. I’m delighted at the way my team and I have made it a home with a first-class reputation.

I believe in setting the standard, rather than following, and we take an innovative, personalised approach to resident care. When residents said they fancied learning a new language, we set up Spanish lessons and joined with a local parent and toddler group so that the generations could learn together. And when a gentleman, who is a keen musician, wanted to visit the Royal Albert Hall for his 90th birthday, we worked with his family to make it happen and to give him an unforgettable day.

I was delighted with our ‘good’ rating from the CQC, which we gained in September 2018. I’m now looking forward to continuing to work with my skilled and passionate team to go one better. Our aim now is to become an ‘outstanding’ provider of great care for older people in Sevenoaks, and across Kent and the South East of England.
