My mum has been at Weald Heights Care Home, on the residential floor, since April 2022. From the onset, she has been extremely happy and well cared for. The team took time to consider who to 'pair' her up with and she now enjoys most meals with three other ladies, all of like mind and ability. The care
team are terribly kind and conscientious and we all feel that she is being looked after incredibly well. The entertainment schedule always gives Mum something to do (or not do if she's too tired) and she loves the trips out and about. The only thing she complains about at all is that the food could be a little more interesting. Everything else is just perfect - thank you all so much for looking after my mum and making her so happy.

Reception is always friendly and helpful but can wait quite a while for the door to be answered after 5.00 pm (and occasionally at weekends when short-staffed).
Very pleasant decor and good to have facilities for visitors to make a drink.
The staff are very friendly, helpful and kind but clearly short-staffed
at times so that residents have to wait for care.
A visiting paramedic from GP practices once a week, but this can cause considerable delays in implementing changes to medication when necessary.
No concerns regarding safety and standard of personal care, and the staff are very approachable with any worries.
The standard of cooking food can be variable, but the staff are very attentive to nutritional and dietary needs.
Excellent activities staff, but I feel that residents on the nursing floor are less well catered for.
Very expensive because of the location (SE England).
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Personal Assistant at Weald HeightsThank you for your recent review regarding Weald Heights. Your opinion is valued and we appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to discuss any concerns with the team or our Home Manager, so that any observations or concerns can be dealt with immediately.
Weald Heights is fully staffed. Outside of reception hours (9 am – 5 pm Monday to Sunday), the care team can give access to visitors. Our priority is the well-being of our residents and therefore there could be a delay in someone assisting you.
Residents on the nursing floor are given the choice to participate in the daily activities throughout the home. If there is any activity that you feel your loved one would like to participate in, please let the Lifestyle Lead know and we would be happy to assist.

My wife has been a resident in Weald Heights for over two years and throughout that time she has been treated with great care and compassion. In the early days, she was very confused but every section of the staff have ensured she is now more settled. For the first time the other day, she told me 'I
am happy here' and this was very encouraging for me as home still looms large when she sees me. I was a resident for two months at the Home end 2020 and can vouch high standards have been maintained even though we live through difficult times. I hope the time will come when it will not be necessary to use agency staff at current levels as my wife finds this confusing at times. I can also vouch the food is much improved thanks to the current catering staff.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Personal Assistant at Weald HeightsThank you for your positive review – this is much appreciated.
We are delighted that you are happy with the care at Weald Heights and that your wife has settled to her new surroundings with the support of our dedicated team.
As you are aware, there is a national shortage of carers but we can assure you that should it be necessary to use agency staff, we utilise the same agency and team that are familiar to our residents.

I have been impressed by the way Weald is run. Staff are very helpful at lunch which is very important, and I am always welcomed when visiting. I believe my wife is very comfortable now there in contrast to the previous home. I am greeted by name when I visit and found a spot. Staff are very helpful
and tolerant at all times. Full marks.

My mother will have been a resident of Weald Heights for 9 months in mid-December 2022, starting with respite care after discharge from hospital in March. This coincided with covid restrictions and a covid outbreak at the home. These difficulties were handled with great care and professionalism. With
goodwill on both sides, my mother settled into a new way of life very contentedly. One's hope is that care will approximate as closely as possible to the attention that family would give. We feel very fortunate that Weald Heights seems to sustain such a care regimen, with the addition of modern purpose-built facilities, regular attention to health and well-being and an entertainment programme that is varied and includes Primary School visitors. Staff and management are genuinely interested in suggestions and where possible make changes, and where not, offer explanations. I would recommend visiting Weald Heights to anyone who can afford it, who is considering a move into care of this kind.

My mum has been a resident at Weald Heights for a few years now. I can not speak highly enough about the wonderful staff who are kind, caring, thoughtful and considerate towards Mum, and nothing is too much trouble for them. We have regular updates on how she is getting on, and it has been such a weight
off our shoulders to know she is safe and being cared for in the lovely environment of Weald Heights. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home if your loved one needs this support.

My mother has been a resident at Weald Heights for over three months now. From the very first visit, everybody was (and remains) caring and welcoming. A very difficult decision for anyone putting a loved one into care but everybody at Weald Heights made us realise it was very much both the right choice
of home and therefore overall decision.
We were encouraged to make Mum's room homely and bring in lots of personal effects which helped create that "home from home" rather than "institutional" feeling.
All of Mum's needs are handled with dignity and care with nothing being too much trouble.
The family are kept regularly updated by team leaders. The activities team do their best to involve and stimulate Mum. All staff are excellent.
Great peace of mind for the wider family and we would certainly recommend this lovely home to others.

My aunt and I was very content with staying at Weald Heights. She commented that all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. She remembered the flower on the window ledge as she loved her garden. She did say that she asked to go outside but there wasn’t a big garden. Since staying at Weald Heights
she has gained confidence and we are now looking at a day centre for once a week.

I was very impressed with the care my grandmother received at Weald Heights. She was made to feel welcome and I liked the effort that was made to get residents to socialise and join in the entertainment. The staff were so helpful, passed messages on to her quickly and efficiently and replied to emails.
They also made us feel very welcome when we visited (especially with children in tow!).

My father stayed in Weald Heights for three and a half months as he was needing 24-hour care after a health issue. The best aspect of Weald Heights is the staff. They were all so friendly and caring and were extremely helpful in helping to monitor his health issues. Unfortunately, the home was in lockdown
for the majority of his stay, so he was unable to leave and only I (as an essential caregiver) was able to visit. Despite this difficult time the staff tried their best to entertain the residents and put on a great Christmas Day. Thank you for your help looking after my father and if needed again my father would be happy to return.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.855)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.855) out of 10 for Weald Heights is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 57 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.855 for Weald Heights is calculated as follows: ( (595 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 669 Ratings = 4.855
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Weald Heights is based on 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 56 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I’m a registered nurse by training and have worked in older people’s care for 25 years. Before joining Weald Heights in 2016, I had managed a large care home for ten years. I’ve been at Weald Heights since before it opened its doors. I’m delighted at the way my team and I have made it a home with a first-class reputation.

I believe in setting the standard, rather than following, and we take an innovative, personalised approach to resident care. When residents said they fancied learning a new language, we set up Spanish lessons and joined with a local parent and toddler group so that the generations could learn together. And when a gentleman, who is a keen musician, wanted to visit the Royal Albert Hall for his 90th birthday, we worked with his family to make it happen and to give him an unforgettable day.

I was delighted with our ‘good’ rating from the CQC, which we gained in September 2018. I’m now looking forward to continuing to work with my skilled and passionate team to go one better. Our aim now is to become an ‘outstanding’ provider of great care for older people in Sevenoaks, and across Kent and the South East of England.
