My father, who has early stage Alzheimer's and vascular dementia, stayed at Weald Heights on their dementia floor for two weeks respite care while we were away on holiday. I can't praise the staff enough for the sincere care and kindness. Dad was encouraged to join in several activities, which I never thought he would do. Although he was nervous about staying he really enjoyed himself. His overall well-being has improved and I can honestly say that it was a positive experience for him. The staff keep you informed at all times, even sending photographs of Dad. Nothing is too much trouble. Dad will eventually need full-time care and we will have no hesitation in moving him to Weald Heights.

For the moment my mother moved into Weald Heights, she has been welcomed. Treated with respect and courtesy by a very friendly group of staff, who have encouraged her greatly. From her room to meals, entertainment, and the ambience of Weald Heights. I could not ask for more.

I feel that now my mother is more settled and appears happy, thanks to all the staff, it is an enormous relief to me and my family.

Mum is very frail, elderly and needs a lot of reassurance, care and support. She has lived at Weald Heights for 3 months and in that time she has received very personalised, great care from committed, caring, professional staff. The home is very comfortable and fitted out to a very high standard. The staff go out of their way to make Mum comfortable and let her live the life she wants, given her frailties.

Meet the Team (1)

Maria Covington
Maria CovingtonJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2016

I’m a registered nurse by training and have worked in older people’s care for 25 years. Before joining Weald Heights in 2016, I had managed a large care home for ten years. I’ve been at Weald Heights since before it opened its doors. I’m delighted at the way my team and I have made it a home with a first-class reputation.

I believe in setting the standard, rather than following, and we take an innovative, personalised approach to resident care. When residents said they fancied learning a new language, we set up Spanish lessons and joined with a local parent and toddler group so that the generations could learn together. And when a gentleman, who is a keen musician, wanted to visit the Royal Albert Hall for his 90th birthday, we worked with his family to make it happen and to give him an unforgettable day.

I was delighted with our ‘good’ rating from the CQC, which we gained in September 2018. I’m now looking forward to continuing to work with my skilled and passionate team to go one better. Our aim now is to become an ‘outstanding’ provider of great care for older people in Sevenoaks, and across Kent and the South East of England.
