My mother has been a resident at Weald Heights for just over three years. During that time her mental and physical health has declined significantly, to the extent she has been bed-bound for and has required complete nursing care for most of that time. My sister and I have nothing but the highest praise
for the way the staff has looked after her. They always show great compassion and treat her with dignity, even though she can be a very difficult lady due to her vascular dementia. We are so relieved that we chose Weald Heights as we do not feel there is anywhere else where our mother could have been looked after as well. We have no hesitation in recommending it without reservation.

My Mum, who has dementia, has received the very best care at Weald Heights. All the staff are unfailingly kind, attentive and friendly. She says the food is delicious and all the carers are very kind. She goes on some lovely trips out and enjoys a wide range of activities. She especially enjoys the
visiting musicians. She loves Lola the resident dog, making friends with the other residents and going for little walks outside. Her family visit often and everyone has been delighted with the standard of care at Weald Heights. My Mum is so much happier than when she was living in her own home with a carer visiting. She is far less anxious. She can relax without having to worry about food or laundry or getting to appointments etc. She is also prompted to take baths, change her clothes and wear her hearing aids. Thank you very much to everyone at Weald Heights - the carers, the managers, the lifestyle lead, the receptionists, chefs, cleaners and maintenance staff - you've all been wonderful!

My mum has been at Weald Heights for around 9 months. During this time she has been cared for with outstanding kindness and dignity. She has been on so many trips out, including the seaside, which is fantastic. The entertainment is superb, lots of music of all kinds, with regular live performances.
The amazing care staff look after her every need, they know us so well, that it feels like visiting a whole family. We couldn't be happier about our choice to have our mum looked after in such an amazing place. We are forever grateful to the staff, who work so hard to create a home-from-home feel. Thank you so much on behalf of me and my family.

The staff are always extremely courteous, friendly and welcoming when I call to see clients who are living at Weald Heights. They have been very helpful in forwarding post to me which makes my job a lot easier, and have always made any clients who have moved there feel most welcome. There is a lovely
atmosphere in Weald Heights - a very important consideration.

The staff at Weald Heights have been looking after my mother for nearly four years as she navigates life with dementia. I am so happy with the care she receives and I cannot speak highly enough of all the wonderful staff who look after her every day, and give me such a friendly welcome every time I
visit. She loves her room and is involved in all the fun activities of which there are plenty. I cannot comment directly on the meals, however the cakes are delicious!

We attended the garden party and our mother and both of us really enjoyed the day. The entertainer was great and had everyone jigging along to his music. The atmosphere was friendly and fun and everyone there seemed to have a great time.
Every time I visit I enjoy looking through the book of photographs
in reception and seeing the wide variety of activities and trips out that the residents have been taking part in.

My mum has been at Weald Heights since April, we moved her from another local care home where she wasn't happy. As a family, we cannot believe the change in our mum. She is so happy and loves being at Weald Heights. She has made lots of new friends and the entertainment team do an amazing job of keeping
everyone engaged, stimulated and having fun. All the staff at Weald Heights go above and beyond to make sure the residents are happy and cared for. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you to the whole team for being so amazing in what you do!

My Dad, who has Alzheimer's, has been at Weald Heights for nearly a year. The staff were very kind in helping him settle in and he has made lovely friends there. The family had supported him at home for a long time and then employed live-in carers. It felt like such a weighty responsibility to finally
book him into Weald Heights. If only we'd known how much happier he'd be there! There are more people/activities to engage with and he initiates conversation in a way he didn't before. We regularly take him on outings and he's always happy to go back. He's told us several times that he never dreamed he'd be living in such a lovely place at his time of life. The staff are always friendly and are good at helping him shower/shave and remind him to charge/use his hearing aids. There is a great staff-to-client ratio and the way the three floors are used to group clients with similar needs works well. Communication with the families is also good.

Our aunt had to leave her home, where she had wished to see out her life when the live-in carers were no longer able to meet her needs. We were all concerned that moving her would be traumatic for our aunt but our concerns were unfounded as the care and attention she is receiving at Weald Heights has
been excellent. Although frail, she has settled seemingly very well and is encouraged to participate and do more for herself.
The application to Weald Heights and the eventual move was very smooth and we are grateful to all concerned for their help in this respect.

Since our father's arrival at Weald Heights, which had previously hosted our mother for periods of respite care, we have continued to be very happy with the standard of care provided. The organisation is clearly run as an efficient business and fees reflect the high standard of facilities provided.
Staff are invariably helpful, caring and good-natured, projecting a positive face even in occasionally challenging situations. They have been receptive to requests for information, including access to relevant aspects of dad's care plan. The weekly (email) programme of planned events, coupled with the Relish Wellbeing app, has allowed us to maintain a basic remote overview of Dad's activity in-between visits. Staff have also been proactive in facilitating and supporting external activities (eg trips to Biggin Hill Airport), which go beyond their normal remit. We hope that the improving weather may permit more time to be spent outside in the fresh air during the coming months.

Mum is looked after very well. All the staff are extremely caring and go the extra mile to do things for her that really make a difference. Like washing and drying her hair on the days when her hairdresser hasn't been able to come in. Mum is showered every day. I know this isn't the case everywhere
as we had to chase the staff in another home to shower my Dad twice a week - it was an ongoing battle. Mum is always dressed nicely and she tells me the staff are kind and patient. I too, have witnessed their care and compassion. Only yesterday when I went to see her they were all outside under sun umbrellas having a cream tea which she thoroughly enjoyed. Had a few issues with the laundry being shrunk but hope this is now resolved. And occasionally Mum has said the food portions can be small but there are always snacks available. Overall I couldn't be happier with Weald Heights - it really is like a hotel with care.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.855)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.855) out of 10 for Weald Heights is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 57 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.855 for Weald Heights is calculated as follows: ( (595 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 669 Ratings = 4.855
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Weald Heights is based on 56 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 56 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2016

I’m a registered nurse by training and have worked in older people’s care for 25 years. Before joining Weald Heights in 2016, I had managed a large care home for ten years. I’ve been at Weald Heights since before it opened its doors. I’m delighted at the way my team and I have made it a home with a first-class reputation.

I believe in setting the standard, rather than following, and we take an innovative, personalised approach to resident care. When residents said they fancied learning a new language, we set up Spanish lessons and joined with a local parent and toddler group so that the generations could learn together. And when a gentleman, who is a keen musician, wanted to visit the Royal Albert Hall for his 90th birthday, we worked with his family to make it happen and to give him an unforgettable day.

I was delighted with our ‘good’ rating from the CQC, which we gained in September 2018. I’m now looking forward to continuing to work with my skilled and passionate team to go one better. Our aim now is to become an ‘outstanding’ provider of great care for older people in Sevenoaks, and across Kent and the South East of England.
