Thank you so much to David, Aleah, Adrian, Jason (sorry - I don't know his surname) and all the staff at Scarlet House. You couldn't have been more helpful in getting Dad settled in at late notice, and over the Christmas period too. Really, you guys have gone above and beyond.

Moving into a care

home is obviously a big adjustment and the staff go to enormous lengths to make their residents feel at home, respected, listened to and valued. Dad is very fond of all of you.

It has been a huge relief to know that Dad is in safe hands and I especially appreciate how welcoming the Care UK team make visitors. There are no visiting hours, tea and coffee are always available and I have never had anything other than "good vibes" from every single member of staff.

Thank you so much for all your efforts.

I would like to thank Jancy who have been wonderful with her calm approach. Her 10 years experience is very evident in her organization skills & empathy which is so important as a nurse.

I would also like to praise all the staff here at scarlet house, I am really happy with the overall service of

care, all the careers do a great job in supporting me and all other residents who live here. I moved in on a respite stay and am due to go home on Thursday this week, within this time I have been supported and cared for within my rehabilitation, to allow me to be able to return home.

I couldn't recommend Scarlet house and all the staff enough. Thank you

We have received excellent service from the moment we arrived at Scarlet House to look around with Dave. We are so grateful for his patience and understanding during Mum's visits to look at rooms and trying to decide if this was the right move for her. Since Mum moved in, Dave has continued to engage
with Mum and the family to make us feel welcome and ensure we are happy.
Jenna was very warm, caring, thorough and understanding when she visited Mum at home to do the assessment which meant Mum felt very positive about moving the Scarlet House. And she has continued to engage with us since Mum arrived.
And Louise & Jancy, the nurses on Mum's suite are delightful and again very approachable, caring and always make time for the family and Mum if we have any concerns or questions.
And finally, I would also like to say what a delight all the staff/carers are. Always a smile or a wave and in particular Louise in Mum's suite who understands Mum's needs and desire to look nice.

Mum has lived in The Hollies for 6 months. From the first reassuring nurse visit at her own home to her settling in with her own things around her we cannot fault the kind and cheerful caring she has received. The staff all appear to enjoy their jobs, the food is amazing and our whole family has felt
very supported by the nurses and managers.

I, when visiting, always receive a warm welcome from entering Scarlet House to when I leave. The staff have made all effort to get to know me even as a weekly visitor. My friend is calm and content on the whole, and has accepted that it is now home. The staff are attentive, kind and considerate, making
all effort to chat with her even though they are always very busy. When the day comes for me to go into a home, I would be happy to be in Scarlet House.

From day one I knew that I had made the right decision for Mum. The staff have many priorities when introducing a new resident to their new home, one of the most important was spending time and energy getting to know the needs and wants of Mum, making her feel comfortable and safe. Mum has been living
in Scarlet House for five months and has referred to it as home within a few months of moving in.
This is due to the expertise and warmth of care delivered by the staff, I couldn't have asked for more.
Scarlet House has a very proactive attitude for care and a very positive environment for my mum to live in.

I can't praise Holly Oak or recommend them enough based on our experience. Dad has been here a couple of months and we have found the level of care to be outstanding. The whole team are so very well linked up right from our arrival with Dad to the end of life care phase we are now unfortunately in.
The carers themselves are not just delivering a service as a job, they all genuinely care, show immense patience, respect and love for the patients and you can't buy that, that's all down to the dedication, integrity and empathy of and every member of the care team. The dignity, communications and connectivity we have had from the nursing team as things have changed, along with the support they provide to us the relatives in helping and supporting us all through a very difficult time has made a difficult time so much easier, removing the stress as we know we have done the right right thing for Dad. Thank you to the whole team at Holly Oak.

A very real fall-off in quality regarding communication since the Hollies was taken over by Care UK. Yes, I have received occasional emails informing me about life there - and they have been appreciated - but getting a positive response to an on-going problem with my mother's landline has proved impossible.
Over the past three weeks or so, I have emailed and/or phoned the care home regarding this matter on a number of occasions - and, although staff have been very pleasant on the phone, they have not returned my calls with an update, despite promising to do so.
Presently, I am at a loss. How long does it take to send an update to a concerned relative?
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at The HolliesThank you for sharing your thoughts regarding The Hollies. We are sorry if this has been your experience.

We understand the vital importance of clear and consistent communication in providing high quality care to all residents and their loved ones during their stay with us and this is something we always aim to maintain however we can.

We apologise if you felt the communication you received whilst the team were working to resolve your concerns was insufficient. However, we would like to assure you that our team always works hard to ensure all concerns are resolved as swiftly as possible and will provide updates where they are able.

We acknowledge that the issues you were facing have now been resolved however if you would like to discuss your experience further, we encourage you to reach out to us directly via complimentsandcomplaints@careuk.com

Basically have taken all her money and now it has run out, they will not keep her on Government funded support. Care UK are an absolute joke. Telephone call to the Regional Director took 6 weeks to get a response from her. They give no update on residents condition. The Hollies when it was
run by other owners was good Care UK are terrible all they want is to keep their shareholders happy.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at The HolliesThank you for sharing your thoughts regarding The Hollies. We are sorry if this has been your experience.
We proudly took over leadership of The Hollies at the beginning of September, and we have greatly appreciated the kindness and patience of all residents and their loved ones during the transition period.
We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your concerns directly and in further detail. We politely encourage you to reach out to the Home Manager or you can contact us directly via complimentsandcomplaints@Careuk.com if you wish.

My mum came into the home in June 2025 for, originally, a few weeks respite care but ended up staying for just over a month. We moved mum to another home that was closer to us and a smaller amount of residents otherwise mum would have stayed here.
The care mum received from the staff was brilliant.
They were attentive, personal and genuine. They would engage with mum on her level, sit and chat with her or play music to her, try to get her involved with activities and encourage her to eat with others.
If your loved one is in need of specialist dementia care I would recommend Holly Oaks.

Thank you to the whole team at Sandfields for providing excellent care during my mum's respite stay. She has been safe, happy and healthy during her time with you.
On her return home, she had nothing but the highest praise for the meals, company and kindness of all the Sandfields staff without exception.
She was also able to maintain her independence whilst she was with you, using the garden and cafe when she chose to.
We look forward to keeping in touch with you in the future.

Exceptional Care and Compassion.
Our family is incredibly grateful for the outstanding care our mother received during her final week at Sandfields Care Home.
From the moment she arrived, the team showed genuine warmth, professionalism and respect; not only to our mother, but to us as a family. It
made an extremely difficult time more bearable, knowing she was in such capable and compassionate hands.
One member of staff, in particular, stood out - our mother's primary nurse. Her empathy, gentleness and constant support were far beyond anything we could have hoped for. She treated our mother with true dignity and provided comfort and reassurance to our entire family. Her approach clearly inspired those around her, as the same level of care was evident across the team.
We also want to acknowledge a senior team member whose thoughtful words during a particularly challenging moment brought great peace of mind.
We will always be thankful for the kindness we received.
Reply from Virginia Peachey, Reviews Team at SandfieldsThank you for your wonderful feedback on behalf of you and your family at such a difficult time. We appreciate your heartfelt words regarding our team here at Sandfields. We will certainly be passing along your feedback to all those involved.

Our friend moved across from The Hollies about 6 months ago and the move has been incredibly successful. She loves the access to outdoor safe and secure areas and the tremendous range of activities. We were pleased with the levl of care in The Hollies, but Holly Oak even surpasses that. The level of
staffing seems very high and we get great communication about our friend who we look after. If you can afford it, this is the best!

I have found the care of my father at Holly Oak to be excellent. My father has quite significant care needs and in addition he presents one or two extra challenges for the carers. However, they always deal with his needs and the challenges he presents with the utmost care and professionalism.

In

addition, my mother, who now lives alone, has needed support on numerous occasions. This is where the care at Holly Oak has gone above and beyond anything I could reasonably have expected. They have continuously provided support for my mother too when she visits my father and is in need of emotional support.

You would quite reasonably expect their care to be limited to their residents. However, this is not the case, they also consider the wider impacts to the residents family and loves ones and provide support where needed.

I would thoroughly recommend Holly Oak to anyone who has a loved some suffering from dementia. The care is second to none.

Mum moved into Holly Oaks in December 2024, after dad died mum seemed to go down hill health wise and was also diagnosed with alzheimer/dementia, at home she had carers but for mum this didn't work so well, she was forgetting to eat and drink and lost a lot of weight.
As a family and discussion with
mum she moved into Holly Oaks.
It was the best decision we all made, since being a resident mum has gained weight, most of her medication has been stopped, she now no longer takes medication for her diabetes. Healthy regular well balanced home cooked meals have helped.
Holly Oaks carers are so amazing with mum, the carers work with what mum wants/needs, not what they think she needs.
Lots of activities if she wants to join in, also trips out.
All the staff are are so friendly, always helpful and nothing seems to much trouble for them.
Best thing for us as a family, mum is very happy and contented, we know she is safe and well looked after 24hrs a day.
