I can't praise Holly Oak or recommend them enough based on our experience. Dad has been here a couple of months and we have found the level of care to be outstanding. The whole team are so very well linked up right from our arrival with Dad to the end of life care phase we are now unfortunately in. The carers themselves are not just delivering a service as a job, they all genuinely care, show immense patience, respect and love for the patients and you can't buy that, that's all down to the dedication, integrity and empathy of and every member of the care team. The dignity, communications and connectivity we have had from the nursing team as things have changed, along with the support they provide to us the relatives in helping and supporting us all through a very difficult time has made a difficult time so much easier, removing the stress as we know we have done the right right thing for Dad. Thank you to the whole team at Holly Oak.

My mum came into the home in June 2025 for, originally, a few weeks respite care but ended up staying for just over a month. We moved mum to another home that was closer to us and a smaller amount of residents otherwise mum would have stayed here.
The care mum received from the staff was brilliant. They were attentive, personal and genuine. They would engage with mum on her level, sit and chat with her or play music to her, try to get her involved with activities and encourage her to eat with others.

If your loved one is in need of specialist dementia care I would recommend Holly Oaks.

Our friend moved across from The Hollies about 6 months ago and the move has been incredibly successful. She loves the access to outdoor safe and secure areas and the tremendous range of activities. We were pleased with the levl of care in The Hollies, but Holly Oak even surpasses that. The level of staffing seems very high and we get great communication about our friend who we look after. If you can afford it, this is the best!

I have found the care of my father at Holly Oak to be excellent. My father has quite significant care needs and in addition he presents one or two extra challenges for the carers. However, they always deal with his needs and the challenges he presents with the utmost care and professionalism.

In addition, my mother, who now lives alone, has needed support on numerous occasions. This is where the care at Holly Oak has gone above and beyond anything I could reasonably have expected. They have continuously provided support for my mother too when she visits my father and is in need of emotional support.

You would quite reasonably expect their care to be limited to their residents. However, this is not the case, they also consider the wider impacts to the residents family and loves ones and provide support where needed.

I would thoroughly recommend Holly Oak to anyone who has a loved some suffering from dementia. The care is second to none.

Mum moved into Holly Oaks in December 2024, after dad died mum seemed to go down hill health wise and was also diagnosed with alzheimer/dementia, at home she had carers but for mum this didn't work so well, she was forgetting to eat and drink and lost a lot of weight.
As a family and discussion with mum she moved into Holly Oaks.
It was the best decision we all made, since being a resident mum has gained weight, most of her medication has been stopped, she now no longer takes medication for her diabetes. Healthy regular well balanced home cooked meals have helped.
Holly Oaks carers are so amazing with mum, the carers work with what mum wants/needs, not what they think she needs.
Lots of activities if she wants to join in, also trips out.
All the staff are are so friendly, always helpful and nothing seems to much trouble for them.

Best thing for us as a family, mum is very happy and contented, we know she is safe and well looked after 24hrs a day.

My Dad received excellent care at Holly Oak Care Centre. The quality of the building, rooms and food were all very good but what stuck out most was the quality of the care. Everyone who I met there was very caring and kind, helping my dad feel comfortable there. They treated my dad and also my mum who visited every day like part of their family.

The home provide lots of options for group activities, which my dad enjoyed. They also provide an app which lets any member of the family submit photos with comments, which were printed out as a newsletter for my dad each fortnight.

The staff were very supportive through the period where my dad was receiving end of life care, with staff going above and beyond with their compassion and thoughtfulness.

I would 100% recommend the care home.

All the staff make me feel welcome whenever I visit. They are happy to answer any questions and keep me well informed. The care at all levels is excellent. Everywhere is clean and tidy. Food looks appetising and plentiful. Activities are wide-ranging and appropriate. Indoor facilities are excellent. However, the care home lacks a secure garden planted with shrubs and flowers for residents to access and relax in during good weather. Many residents would appreciate daily periods of relaxation outside in a beautiful setting that is safe and secure, and staff would also benefit from time outside.

Mum has been at Holly Oak since May having transferred from residential care. She has settled in so well and we have noticed an improvement in her quality of life. The staff are plentiful so nothing is too much trouble and they are passionate about what they do. They are also very friendly and professional and can meet Mum's needs fully. The food is delicious and specific to Mum's needs, also her room is very homely and peaceful. It is so reassuring to have the benefit of in-house nurses to meet her needs. There is an extensive programme of activities both in the lounges and also one-to-one if required. It is lovely for Mum to have her hair washed and styled regularly. Family are welcomed in and offered a hot drink when they visit. Fabulous!

Our loved one has been a resident at Holly Oak for approx. 3 months. What sets Holly Oak apart from the other care homes in the local area is that it specialises solely in dementia care. This is very important as, in comparison to some other care homes we've had experience of, considerations around the needs of those with dementia are at the forefront, from the very beginning. The staff demonstrate good experience, knowledge, and, particularly importantly, the ability to adapt to the ever-changing needs of people who have dementia. The staff are engaging and genuinely interested in the personalities and well-being of each resident. The environment is bright, modern, and both functional and comfortable. We have been impressed with the frequency of the activities for residents, which our family member hugely benefits from in terms of their well-being. Management are really approachable and generous of their time. The food on offer is lovely and suits our loved one's tastes and needs well.

The commitment shown by all the staff at Holly Oak is second to none, all the residents are referred to as family and treated as such. The carers and nursing staff we meet regularly are exceptional, always approachable and happy, they genuinely feel it's a privilege to be entrusted to look after our mum and we know she is happy. Holly Oak is ahead of its time in both its work ethic and its achievements and should be used as an example to others. It is a really rare find within this establishment and we feel so fortunate we found Holly Oak for our mum.

I am the relative of a resident who has only been at Holly Oak for a few weeks, following the sudden closure of her old home. My experience to date, even over a very short time, has been extremely positive. The staff were very helpful in offering a room in the home and facilitated the move from the old home to Holly Oak.
Since moving in, I have been struck by the friendliness of everyone, and it is clear that my mother is being very well looked after. Her room is comfortable, with enough of her own furniture, pictures and nick-nacks to make it feel like home.

I cannot thank the staff enough for their care, their helpfulness and their friendliness.

Review from Guy M (Grandson of Resident) published on 22 September 2023 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My grandfather was a resident at Holly Oak for about 10 months until he finally passed away recently. His dementia gradually worsened during his time there, which eventually led to his passing. I cannot express in words our admiration for Holly Oak and all who work there. The staff are just so lovely and caring and were so supportive to Grandad and all the members of our family. Nothing is too much trouble. The activities are plentiful and lively. Grandad enjoyed music and singing and even in his latter months he enjoyed joining in with the singing. The food is just amazing and tempting for people with poor appetites. The tearoom is amazing: we had Christmas lunch there and also a cream tea. I think it would be difficult to find another care home that comes close to Holly Oak and we would have no hesitation in giving it our strong recommendation.

On my visit, the resident I had come to see seemed happy and well looked after. I was allowed to take my dog in which made her so happy. Lunch was served whilst I was there but was not something she liked so ate very little of it. I know it is difficult with dementia to sometimes get an honest answer so don’t know whether she had a choice of menu or not. She was unaware she had a television or telephone in her room but said she didn’t want to use them anyway.

Reply from Chloe Ebbs, Administrator at Holly Oak

Thank you very much for your comments. We are so pleased that your friend is settling in, thank you for bringing the dog, as the other residents love this too. A transition from home to a care environment can be difficult for all, but we like to try and make this as easy and stress-free as...

My sister-in-law has been a resident for nearly 3 months. Communication from the staff on all aspects of her care and well-being has been excellent. I have been included in discussions on her care. This has been particularly appreciated as we are currently still living abroad so the fact that she is being so well looked after is reassuring as it was difficult to hand over responsibility after 12 years.
