Stanley Park

Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
The chief had rang in the morning sick. The residents had pizzas and chips for lunch. There was general chaos as staff numbers were low. There weren't enough chips for Mam, and her pizza was cold by the time the staff were able to serve her in her room. I felt for the staff who, without a manager or
deputy, had to resolve the situation. They did well and were cheerful about this. However totally unacceptable for staff & residents.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Stanley Park

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding Stanley Park. We are very sorry to hear about the disruption to service during your visit and fully acknowledge that the experience you described was not acceptable.
On that day, the chef called in sick unexpectedly, and unfortunately, both the manager and deputy were also unavailable. This placed additional pressure on the team, and while they remained positive and did their best under challenging circumstances, we understand that delays and meal quality suffered as a result.

I would like to assure you we have now taken several steps to ensure this situation will not happen again. We now have a bank chef in place who is on call and available for any such eventualities, providing immediate cover when needed. In addition, we have sourced a supply of high-quality, pre-prepared meals that staff can use if needed, making our system more robust and responsive moving forward.

It’s also worth noting that, on the day in question, residents were asked and chose the meal option provided, which was pizza and chips. However, we recognise that not everyone received their food in a timely or satisfactory manner, and for that we sincerely apologise.
We appreciate your understanding and your recognition of the staff’s efforts. We remain committed to learning from these situations and ensuring high standards of care and service for all our residents.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly if you would like to discuss this further. Best wishes

Our mam really enjoyed her stay at The Kings Court, her first few nights were a bit hard but the staff were great with her really made her feel safe and at ease which is what she needed. Would have loved her to carry on staying there as she had made some lovely friends but sadly they had no availability
and we really needed it quite quickly.

Fantastic staff, so friendly and like having family members caring doe our loved one. It's nice to see the home getting updated and decorated however the lounge area could do with being regularly monitored i.e cleaned and tidied. Also if it is possible to have air fresheners dotted around the home as
some walk areas can be quite pointiont (around the office and near the lift/snug area).

My mam went into Kings Court in May 25 initially for three weeks respite before going into hospital for an operation, the care mam ger there was excellent and mam settled straight away, with the staff even moving mam to a bigger room to meet her needs, after the opp it became obvious mam could not go
back to her own home to look after herself, the family didn't hesitate to see if mam could go back to Kings Court, when mam returned the staff made mam so welcome. Again, the day care mam gets there is second to none, and the staff and management there are so patient and understanding of mams needs and on 30th July the put on an amazing afternoon tea for mam's 92nd birthday inviting all her family to attend, there is plenty of activities for those who want to take part, Kings Court is a lovely place where. I would highly recommend to anyone needing 24/7 care.

Our mam needed End of Life care so we contacted Ventress Hall to enquire if they had any beds available. Thankfully they had a lovely room where mam spent the last two weeks of her life. The nursing care mam received was wonderful & we are very thankful to all the nursing team. All staff from the first
person we had contact with to the last are a credit to Ventress Hall.

Kings Court

My sister and I had been concerned about our brother's mental health when, twice in one week, he got lost so we knew we had to take action in finding him a place where he'd be safe and given the proper care which we were unable to offer.
After two recommendations from friends we got in touch and
were immediately welcomed. I was impressed with the decor and high level of cleanliness but also, during a meeting with the manageress, I was asked many relevant questions that showed the care he got would be very much personalised.

Walking around the home I noticed that not only the residents had a general air of being happy and content .. the staff were also smiling as they worked. We are simply delighted our brother is being cared for so very well and even more delighted the level of care is outstanding. And the food ... out of this world! We are able to visit any time we like and have told our brother it's so nice he might just find us living there too. Five Stars plus!

The 3wks that my mam has been in for respite in Kings Court most of the time mam has been happy and the staff gave been good with her. Like everyone mam has good days and bad but the staff have tried to encourage her 2 join invite the activities she can do and also for going down to the restaurant.
Mam does sometimes likes to spend time on her own and if this what she wants at time the staff are ok with that. While we have visited her we have been made welcomed and offered tea, coffee etc with mam.
After mams operation mam might have to go into a home and if possible we would like her to go back in there.

Mam has been in Church View for 10 months now. Her care has been outstanding in all aspects. The staff also provide the family with care and compassion which is much appreciated. I used to work as a community nurse, for people with dementia and this is one of the nicest care homes I have been in.

A year ago I would have said that you couldn't improve on perfection. But fast forward 12 months and it has been wonderful to see how new management haven't let the grass grow under their feet and have constantly strived to find new ways of making KC a thriving hub of activity that includes and involves
everyone from residents to staff to family and community.
The Men's Den is a fantastic initiative for example. Also the new in home shop which is such a lovely thought to enable residents to feel able to buy things without going into town.
With the home at near full occupancy at the moment there is a lively buzz to the lounge area and the - sometimes maligned in other homes- set up of the circle of chairs works wonderfully with residents and famijy far more able and willing to socialise and see each other.
2 years into MILs residency and we still have that wonderful feeling of knowing everything is under control, she is safe, cared for and happy.
We couldn't ask for more.

As a daughter, I found it very difficult to place Mam into a care home but as her condition deteriorated, Mam needed 24hr care. All staff welcomed Mam with kindness and compassion, which has continued to this present day. If I have any concerns or worries, they are dealt with immediately. This is very
reassuring. She is cared for with compassion and empathy at all times. All members of staff feel like an extended family to us. Church View is a well run care home by an efficient management team. Thanks to all of you.

In appearance, Church View almost resembles a Travel Lodge style. It has well appointed rooms, is clean and tidy, with a mature garden area and plenty of space to park. The staff are very friendly and each resident receives a high level of care. Residents are listened to and treated with respect at
all times. There are always fun things to do. As well as holding fund raising fetes, there are many activities for the residents and their families, if they wish, to participate in. If crafts are your thing, or you like a bit of gardening, you can join in whenever you like. If you need a bit of exercise, then the armchair workouts to music are fun. Or if you want to do something less energetic, maybe bingo or fun quizzes are right up your street. If you just want to relax, you're welcome to rest in your room or sit in the spacious lounge. There is a variety of good quality food on offer too.
