Ayton House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I have now been a resident for over a year at Ayton House, and am very happy; am given plentiful good food, with cheerful, happy staff (without exception) and made to feel safe and secure, with help there if needed. I am of sound mind, but worn out physically and appreciate the friendliness of all the
staff.
Value for money - not quite at the moment, but I am getting older all the time, and I will still live in Ayton for years to come.

Dad has dementia, and after Mum died, eventually, the time had come to find a care home for him. I looked at 15 in West Sussex, but when I was shown around Ayton House, I knew this was the place for Dad.
The staff are kind and caring, the surroundings are thoughtfully laid out for the residents, the
interior is beautifully decorated, and the food is fantastic. Well done Ayton House.

We could not have found a better home for my Aunt after she had a disabling stroke in 2022. For the next three-and-a-half years, she was cared for at Mill View by the most professional and kind team of staff. My Aunt had a particular passion for owls, and a highlight of her time at Mill View was when
the staff arranged a day out for her at Groombridge Place to see and hold some live owls. Many of the Mill View staff went well above the requirements of the job. Towards the end, when my Aunt was in hospital, at least two staff members visited her on their days off. It was my Aunt's wish to get out of hospital and return to Mill View as soon as possible, and this was arranged when there were no more medical options. My Aunt could not have been more delighted to be back home at Mill View, and she died peacefully one afternoon about three weeks later after a normal morning. On behalf of the family, I wish to thank all the staff of Mill View for their wonderful service and care.

Look no further than Mill View if you are looking for a great place for your loved one to live their life to the full in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
In the 18 months since my mother has been there we have seen just how very caring and kind the care staff are; watched residents of all abilities
enjoy the entertainment provided by the marvellous Lifestyle team; and have had any questions answered by the management, admin, reception and medical staff.
The domestic and catering staff are all very friendly too and do an excellent job.
We have been kept informed at all times about any issues that have cropped up with my mum's care, and I do recommend that families be as involved as they are able to so that your loved one feels that their new home and family have all merged together.
Mill View provides a genuinely caring "village" atmosphere. The cafe area is the icing on the cake and a place for residents and families to meet and make friends. No regrets choosing Mill View!

Our experience with Chichester Grange over the past 3 months has been exceptional, and I cannot speak highly enough of the care my mother has received, since moving in with Alzheimer's. From the outset, mum was welcomed and all the staff handled her transition with sensitivity and compassion. The teams
are so kind attentive and respectful and the Grange is so welcoming to family members at all times and a great cafe too! Activities are well planned, delicious meals, and mum is happy and I know she is extremely well cared for. Thank you.

We moved my 101 year old mother into Chichester Grange when she became unwell.
The staff were kind, welcoming and reassuring.
The entire team at Chichester Grange really impressed us - they were consistently very capable, sensible and caring in their approach and unremittingly patient and kind.
They
not only looked after my mother, they looked after all her visiting family and friends too. They checked in with us regularly during our visits to make sure that we were ok.
My mother had a very difficult final 2 months due to her feeling very unwell, but Chichester Grange made the very best of a very sad process, which ended very peacefully.
Words really are not enough to express my thanks to the entire team, especially Justine, Tracey, Effie and Jackson.
Reply from Samantha Chandler, Reviews Team at Chichester GrangeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and heartfelt review.
We are truly honoured that you entrusted Chichester Grange with the care of your mother during such an important and emotional time. Your kind words about our team's compassion, patience, and professionalism mean a great deal to us, and it is especially reassuring to know that both your mother and your family felt supported throughout her stay.
Caring not only for our residents but also for their loved ones is something we place great importance on, and we are grateful that this was felt during your visits. While we know those final months were incredibly difficult, we are pleased we were able to help ensure your mother's journey was peaceful, dignified, and surrounded by kindness.
Your thanks to Justine, Tracey, Effie, and Jackson will be shared with them and the wider team, who will be deeply touched by your recognition.
On behalf of everyone at Chichester Grange, please accept our sincere condolences and our heartfelt thanks for your trust and kind words.

We could not praise Darlington Court's care for our Dad highly enough. From the moment he was admitted, they made him feel at home. The staff consistently demonstrated great kindness and professionalism being supportive of us as well as Dad. The home has a wonderful warm and homely feel while providing
all the facilities needed for more demanding care needs. It is kept spotlessly clean, the food is excellent and they even provided a lovely space for us to celebrate Christmas together with Dad and close family. They also provided us with invaluable help and support navigating the whole care process. We feel so lucky Dad was able to spend his final months there. Thank you

When my 94 year old mother-in -law became too frail to look after herself,I found Martlet manor a lovely place for her to stay and be safe and cared for. I am very grateful to all the wonderful staff who took so much time and effort over settling her in and helping her to feel at home.
Martlet Manor
is very clean and beautifully decorated . She was on the second floor and had a large airy room with her own ensuite and easy chairs . There are dining rooms on each floor and the residents enjoy well cooked food and social time together. She met some lovely ladies to chat to. I was able to stay for lunch with her and join in the chats. They also have a friendly cafe on the ground floor so that residents and visitors can enjoy time together with cake and coffee, she enjoyed this very much.
All her carers were empathetic and kind and she quickly became fond of them. Mum even got her hair done!
The management are always on hand to listen to relatives enquiries and were always so helpful.

My father is a resident in MM. After having had 2 strokes and a stay in hospital, he was unable to live independently any longer. He joined Martlet Manor's community in May 2025 and was made to feel welcome straight away. MM is a lovely care home and dad is taken care of so well. The Carers and staff
are so kind and helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble. Both communal areas and dad's room are well catered for and very clean. Dad does lots of activities both in MM and trips out in their mini bus to garden center's / museums etc. My family and I could not be more pleased with the care dad receives and the kindness he is shown by all who work at MM. Thank you.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother has been in a care environment for the past two years and during that time we have tried and tested a few homes and until now been very disappointed with what we have experienced.
Once we decided to move Mum to Ayton house they carried out a full assessment of Mum and confirmed they could
meet her care needs. So many care homes say the same thing but do not deliver. Ayton does!
Mum has been at Ayton now for two months and nothing seems to phase staff members. They are all so caring including the receptionist and cleaning staff. My mum can be challenging at times and a bit of a handful but the staff see through this and still deliver the care Mum needs.
All staff seem to be fully trained and employed by the care home. The lack of agency workers can only be a good thing and just shows that Ayton is a great employer and look after their staff.
Its a fresh, modern, caring facility which is a breath of fresh air for us as a family.

We have just moved my mother to Ayton House from another care home because of her blindness. Complete sight loss requires specialist care which Ayton House has offered her from the moment she stepped through the door. We are not local and need to know that she is cared for sympathetically, loved like
a family member and included in as much as possible due to the isolation of her blindness.
Ayton House staff and management have been honest, professional, friendly and so approachable, we are so relieved to have found you. We love every visit to see mum in this gorgeous new care home. Thank you.

My father was in Ayton House for a period of 4 weeks to recover after a long hospital stay. He really enjoyed his stay and rest at Ayton House. He got to know many new people and the staff who looked after him well. Everyone was so kind and friendly and took the time to check on him and cater for his
needs. It was so nice being in a place where people said hello and checked on him, even if they were not directly caring for him; they took the time to greet him in the corridors and communal areas. He joined in some of the social activities and spent time in the lounges and café area. One highlight was the ability to watch some films in the cinema room in their pub! The whole facility is very new, modern and tastefully decorated, certainly comfortable to stay in. We would highly recommend Ayton House for short and long-term stays. Thanks to the entire team!
