Mum was welcomed with flowers, smiles and excitement. She was whisked into her new home. This helped soften what is a difficult transition between homes. All the staff were attentive and made her feel special and welcome.

The care at the home is good and the residents are treated as part of the family

and not an inconvenience.

There are some real characters at Ayton House, residents and staff alike and it has been a pleasure approaching the end of mum's first month at Ayton.

My father came to Ayton House for a day visit and was so impressed that he was happy to move in there and then! This from someone who didn't see the need to move into a care home and took some persuading to even visit for a day! Dad moved into Ayton House on 6th January 2026, settled in very quickly,
is being well looked after and is very happy there. He enjoys the lovely food and has taken part in some of the activities and trips out. ALL the staff are very friendly and helpful, both to residents and family members. Nothing is too much trouble for them. As my father's dementia and confusion progresses, it is reassuring for us (and him) to know that the staff are keeping an eye on him and helping him when necessary 24/7. Ayton House itself is a lovley building - clean, comfortable, spacious and welcoming. More like a luxury hotel than a care home!

Ayton House Care Home holds a deeply personal place in our hearts, as it was the home for both of my parents during the final chapter of their lives.

From the very beginning, the staff showed patience, compassion, and a genuine understanding of their needs. They treated them both with dignity and

kindness, taking the time to learn their routines, preferences, and the little things that brought comfort. It meant so much to our family to know they were being looked after in a safe and caring environment.

We will always be grateful for the care, respect, and humanity the staff at Ayton House showed to both of my parents. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ayton House to anyone looking for a place where their loved ones will be genuinely cared for.

Having searched extensively to find the right care home for my father, Ayton House has been the perfect fit with such warm and professional staff to care and provide assistance in my father's post-stroke rehabilitation.
From the moment he arrived, the team provided great reassurance to all the family,
of the care my father would receive. Much time was taken to explain the level of service and how his needs would be assessed and accommodated.
I know my father was greatly reluctant to leave, most probably as he was enthused by the changing daily menu on offer, however he is continuing to make progress with his recovery and happily visits to join some of the stroke events which are hosted at Ayton House.
If he needs any further period of care, Ayton House will be our first option for a return visit.

I am happy with Ayton House as a care home. However, the food is limited because of the bulk buying of the overall company. The wine is not drinkable.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at Ayton House who have gone above and beyond to support our mother on her dementia journey. They quickly identified how mum likes to be helpful and support this individual need. Also encouraging her to join in the fun activities and entertainment that make her happy.
During
a difficult time supporting Dad in hospital we have known mum was safe and well looked after in a high quality care home .

I have now been a resident for over a year at Ayton House, and am very happy; am given plentiful good food, with cheerful, happy staff (without exception) and made to feel safe and secure, with help there if needed. I am of sound mind, but worn out physically and appreciate the friendliness of all the
staff.
Value for money - not quite at the moment, but I am getting older all the time, and I will still live in Ayton for years to come.

Dad has dementia, and after Mum died, eventually, the time had come to find a care home for him. I looked at 15 in West Sussex, but when I was shown around Ayton House, I knew this was the place for Dad.
The staff are kind and caring, the surroundings are thoughtfully laid out for the residents, the
interior is beautifully decorated, and the food is fantastic. Well done Ayton House.

The whole team are friendly, helpful and caring which helped my Dad to settle in very quickly. There are various activities throughout the day which help everyone to interact and join in which helps to keep all residents stimulated and active. The rooms and communal areas are kept spotless clean and
the decor is tasteful and classy.

My mother has been in a care environment for the past two years and during that time we have tried and tested a few homes and until now been very disappointed with what we have experienced.
Once we decided to move Mum to Ayton house they carried out a full assessment of Mum and confirmed they could
meet her care needs. So many care homes say the same thing but do not deliver. Ayton does!
Mum has been at Ayton now for two months and nothing seems to phase staff members. They are all so caring including the receptionist and cleaning staff. My mum can be challenging at times and a bit of a handful but the staff see through this and still deliver the care Mum needs.
All staff seem to be fully trained and employed by the care home. The lack of agency workers can only be a good thing and just shows that Ayton is a great employer and look after their staff.
Its a fresh, modern, caring facility which is a breath of fresh air for us as a family.

We have just moved my mother to Ayton House from another care home because of her blindness. Complete sight loss requires specialist care which Ayton House has offered her from the moment she stepped through the door. We are not local and need to know that she is cared for sympathetically, loved like
a family member and included in as much as possible due to the isolation of her blindness.
Ayton House staff and management have been honest, professional, friendly and so approachable, we are so relieved to have found you. We love every visit to see mum in this gorgeous new care home. Thank you.

My partner moved into this fantastic care home a month ago. The family and I couldn't be more delighted with the care he is receiving. My father was in Ayton House for a period of 4 weeks to recover after a long hospital stay. He really enjoyed his stay and rest at Ayton House. He got to know many new people and the staff who looked after him well. Everyone was so kind and friendly and took the time to check on him and cater for his
needs. It was so nice being in a place where people said hello and checked on him, even if they were not directly caring for him; they took the time to greet him in the corridors and communal areas. He joined in some of the social activities and spent time in the lounges and café area. One highlight was the ability to watch some films in the cinema room in their pub! The whole facility is very new, modern and tastefully decorated, certainly comfortable to stay in. We would highly recommend Ayton House for short and long-term stays. Thanks to the entire team!

I recently booked 2 weeks respite package at Ayton House and went there following surgery. I was immediately impressed by the level of care that was offered. My carers were attentive, kind and professional. Never once did I see a miserable face on them or hear a disparaging word. My room was spotlessly
clean, adequately furnished with a comfortable bed and an ensuite wet room. There was a private patio, where I could sit in the sun. Added bonuses were the balanced menu offering the choice of tasty, freshly cooked meals and a prompt and efficient laundry service. Activities were on offer, including trips in the minibus. Would I return? The answer is a resounding YES.

We moved the mother to Ayton House at the beginning of June 2025. She suffers from dementia, and we were worried she would not settle in this new home, but we have been so pleased that she has not mentioned her previous home at all. My Mum has been resident at Ayton House since January. She has settled very well and has made some friends. The home is tastefully decorated in soft relaxing colours and is spotlessly clean. Her room is spacious and light, well furnished for her needs with a good en-suite. She has her own rocking
chair and other familiar items from home. Each floor is very homely with a separate lounge and a dining room laid ready for each meal, and there is a coffee lounge behind reception for residents and guests. The food served is excellent and residents have a good choice. Activities are arranged most days, and residents are encouraged but not forced to participate. Regular outings by mini bus are also a feature. Staff are friendly, proactive, cheerful and very professional, treating both residents and visitors with kindness and respect. Nothing is too much trouble, and the level of care provided is superb. I have no concerns leaving my lovely Mum in their kind and very capable hands.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.917)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.917) out of 10 for Ayton House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 39 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for Ayton House is calculated as follows: ( (423 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 457 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ayton House is based on 39 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 39 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

I believe it’s a privilege to care for older people, and I’m determined to deliver the very best for them as the Home Manager of Ayton House. I have a unique background – as well as being a Registered General Nurse, I also have degrees in Accounting and Finance.

Being a Home Manager draws on all the skills and training I’ve achieved over my career. You need to have an eye for the financial side while also being committed to delivering first-class care. People management skills are also essential, and a level of creativity is needed too. It’s a demanding job, but I relish every day – especially any time I can spend chatting to residents and learning about their lives and experiences. It’s important that all our team members speak to residents regularly to hear how we can improve the care and service we provide.

I joined Care UK because I wanted to be part of a prestigious organisation focused on delivering outstanding care, and Care UK leads the field in this respect. I worked as the Home Manager of Care UK’s Ancasta Grove, based in Southampton, from 2022, and I’m extremely proud of the work the team does for residents there. I now look forward to the opportunity to continue this great work at Ayton House in the months and years ahead.
