Martlet Manor is a modern well managed care home that is ideal for the elderly. Alway found staff to be kind and considerate. Maybe needs a recliner chair (without rocker).

The staff have been wonderful from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble.
My mother was able to recuperate and recover swiftly from hip replacement surgery, as respite before returning home.
I was immediately at ease with the facility, friendliness of the staff, safe in the knowledge that
all would be taken care of.
Sincere thanks, premium service all the way, home from home.

My mother went into Martlet on Respite contract in Dec 25 straight from hospital - it was a very last minute had to do situation- The circumstances were more challenging for us as a family as my two brothers and I live in different parts of the world and we did not have time to visit any other homes
to draw comparison so it was a bit of have to wait and see how things go. Well we could not have asked for more and definitely struck lucky not only with the home having a lovely room available for mum but the staff also being exceptional- Rose Amy James Alex Seb Lorraine Liz have all been wonderful & removed any concerns or worry that we have had. The best thing though is mum who became a permanent resident in January is better in herself & extremely happy in living at MM which she describes being like a cruise ship . She is at the early stages of dementia & becoming more forgetful but knowing that she is in a safe place & being so well looked after gives us enormous peace of mind
Reply from Rose Grover, Reviews Team at Martlet ManorThank you for your thoughtful review. We are so pleased to hear that your mother has settled well at Martlet Manor and is happy in her new home.

It is wonderful to know that our team has been able to support her and provide reassurance to your family, especially during what we understand was a challenging time. Your kind comments about the staff and the care provided mean a great deal, and we will be sure to share them with the team.

We are especially glad to hear she feels safe, well cared for, and content, and we very much enjoy having her as part of our home.

My wife has been resident at Martlet Manor for almost a year having arrived from hospital in a pitiful state, barely able to stand. Within days she regained her confidence and balance. I have throughout been most impressed by the ongoing care shown by all members of staff; they are constantly cheerful
and attentive. The environment in the home is cosy, clean and welcoming. Both my sons agree with this assessment.

When my 94 year old mother-in -law became too frail to look after herself,I found Martlet manor a lovely place for her to stay and be safe and cared for. I am very grateful to all the wonderful staff who took so much time and effort over settling her in and helping her to feel at home.
Martlet Manor
is very clean and beautifully decorated . She was on the second floor and had a large airy room with her own ensuite and easy chairs . There are dining rooms on each floor and the residents enjoy well cooked food and social time together. She met some lovely ladies to chat to. I was able to stay for lunch with her and join in the chats. They also have a friendly cafe on the ground floor so that residents and visitors can enjoy time together with cake and coffee, she enjoyed this very much.
All her carers were empathetic and kind and she quickly became fond of them. Mum even got her hair done!
The management are always on hand to listen to relatives enquiries and were always so helpful.
Reply from Rose Grover, Reviews Team at Martlet ManorThank you so much for your lovely feedback. We’re delighted to hear that your mother-in-law felt safe, comfortable, and at home with us.
It’s wonderful to know she enjoyed the social side of life here, from meals and chats to time in the caf©, and that our team could support her with kindness and care. Your kind words about our staff and environment will be shared with everyone.
Thank you again for your support—it truly means a lot.

My father is a resident in MM. After having had 2 strokes and a stay in hospital, he was unable to live independently any longer. He joined Martlet Manor's community in May 2025 and was made to feel welcome straight away. MM is a lovely care home and dad is taken care of so well. The Carers and staff
are so kind and helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble. Both communal areas and dad's room are well catered for and very clean. Dad does lots of activities both in MM and trips out in their mini bus to garden center's / museums etc. My family and I could not be more pleased with the care dad receives and the kindness he is shown by all who work at MM. Thank you.
Reply from Rose Grover, Reviews Team at Martlet ManorThank you for taking the time to share such kind feedback about your father's experience at Martlet Manor. We are delighted to hear that he was made to feel welcome and that both he and your family were pleased with the care and support he received.
Our team works hard to create a warm, caring environment where residents can feel at home, and it is wonderful to know that the kindness of our carers and staff, the activities on offer, and the overall atmosphere of the home made a positive difference to your father's time with us.
Your thoughtful comments mean a great deal to the whole team, and we are grateful that you chose to share your experience. Thank you again for your kind words.

We found MM after my mum had a terrible fall and had to have a long stay in hospital which resulted in her not being able to stay at home.It was a traumatic time for us but the team at MM were a huge support to us all constantly.I can't explain how amazing everyone was, we became so close with them
and mum in a short time. They kept in touch constantly with any issues with mum,we visited every day and many times I just cried and they sat and talked to me.The food and the cleanliness were first class and the laundry worked well. There was a cafe downstairs when we needed a break, everything was thought of, it is quite a new building so nothing looked tired, it was decorated beautifully. My mum passed away there in May after 7 months she was 96.The team at MM were outstanding in every area, they had unending empathy under very difficult circumstances.Being in mums room quietly with her towards the end knowing they were outside the door to for support meant everything and always will.

I had fractured my ankle and was in rehab in the hospital. I was receiving physio, but only 3 times per week and only for 10 minutes per session. My fitness was not impressive and was unlikely to improve anytime soon. My husband approached Martlet Manor, and they agreed I could move there and receive
intensive physiotherapy. Within 2 weeks, I was fit enough to return home. I would like to thank all at Martlet Manor and especially the physio.

They continuously assess the health, care needs of my Mother .
Lovely relaxed environment. They have a cafe which vistors, residents enjoy . Hairdressers
The residents rooms are all individual and all have a front

In July, a friend took us to Martlet Manor to have Sunday lunch with her husband, a resident there. From as soon as we entered the home, we were impressed by the helpful, friendly and courteous way in which our friend was treated by all the staff in the rooms, corridors and lifts. Once we had met with
her husband, we could see that he was being well cared for and was content in his room. We were particularly impressed by one young male member of staff who was so imaginatively trying to coax our friend to walk again. Lunch was very good food and the serving staff in the dining room worked very hard between themselves to create a buoyant and cheerful atmosphere, a sense that Sunday lunch was an occasion to enjoy. Our visit was a pleasure.

My father lived at Martlet Manor for the last, difficult year of his life. He was diagnosed with dementia shortly before admission.
We felt it was important for Dad to live in a lovely home, like he'd been used to all of his life and to be well-fed and cared for. We were certainly not disappointed
and often came away feeling rather envious.
The food is exceptional, with plenty of choice and portion size. Tea, coffee, juice and lots of cake are offered between meals. There is a free cafe downstairs, full of yummy goods, available for everyone. A good place to catch up with your relative/friend. There is also a free bar and a stunning garden.
The rooms are beautifully decorated with en-suite shower rooms and flat-screen TVs. The beds are like hospital beds, extremely hygienic with remote controls for positioning.
Most importantly the staff are wonderful. Full of compassion, understanding and patience, with plenty of energy and lots of fun.
We will miss our visits.

My mother urgently needed a short stay at the Martlet Manor to give herself some much-needed respite care for a few weeks following a difficult period with her health. The Customer Relations Manager was contacted and was quick to assist in finding a suitable room and get her moved in. My mother had
previously stayed for a similar period earlier in the year and was very keen to return to the same facility. It was a nice surprise to discover that she would be returning to the same room as before which has made the move very un-stressful for my mother and she has quickly settled in. I'd like to thank the team at Martlet Manor for their support and kind professional care that they are providing, it means a lot to me knowing my Mother is happy and well looked after.

Our mother has only been in the home for just under a week and wow what a difference we have seen in her already. For someone who never wanted to be in a home, when we showed her Martlet Manor she seemed so excited about being a resident and wanted to go there as her first choice. She has made some
friends already and we cannot fault the amazing staff that work so hard and make my mother feel so welcome. For a long time we have done nothing but worry about her health and safety at home but now that has been taken care of at Martlet Manor. We absolutely love it there for her and highly recommend.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.810)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.810) out of 10 for Martlet Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.810 for Martlet Manor is calculated as follows: ( (211 Excellents x 5) + (45 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 258 Ratings = 4.81
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Martlet Manor is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
