The upstairs lounge needs smartening up, it looks a bit tired.
The grandstand area by the entrance which is used for a lot of functions would benefit from being extended.
Keep up the good work, my mother in law is well looked after, and I regularly tell people when discussing care homes how good
Bourley Grange is. Your staff are also very caring and do a great job.
Reply from Samantha Debenham, Reviews Team at Bourley GrangeThank you for your feedback regarding Bourley Grange. Your feedback is imperative to allow Care UK to make improvements where required.
We are so pleased to read that you feel your Mother-in-Law is well cared for and that the staff are caring.
The staff hold themselves to a very high standard and this will be greatly appreciated by them as they continue their hard work.
We are sorry to hear of your thoughts regarding the lounge and grandstand area.
After discussion with the home, it has been advised that they are aware that there are some areas within the home in need of an upgrade and the Home Manager is going to look into this.
Regarding the grandstand area and an extension, please be advised that discussions are already taking place to determine if this is action that can be taken.
Thank you again for your feedback.

Initial greeting from staff was very helpful & friendly. Cheerful & inclusive atmosphere, plenty of light & bright well-maintained decoration of public spaces with great photos of 50s American pool life on the walls instead of usual dreary choice. Beautiful gardens. Plenty of activities. A huge improvement
on her previous home.

A high standard of maintenance and cleaning is kept at all times. The food is varied and residents views are taken into account. Staff excell in engaging with the residents and families with wide and varied activities available every day. Families are kept up to date with any health issues and are also
included to join some activities, if they are available to attend. You can visit when you want and I have found that you always get a warm welcome. The dementia care is excellent.

On the initial visit I knew immediately it was the right place for my father. The staff are all fabulous, knowledgeable, friendly and very adept providing the complex care my Dad requires. Best description is a posh hotel for old people. I've eaten there and you can tell the food is all cooked from
scratch and is of a very high standard. A really lovely home and so glad I found it. Dad's really enjoys it here as they do so much with them its never a dull day.

My mother-in-law is well cared for at Bourley Grange. We feel she is safe and valued there. Residents are treated with respect and as individuals. The food is excellent and there is a good range of activities, run by the creative and caring Sajil. When we have had queries or issues regarding her care,
these have been dealt with swiftly and sensitively. We are always given a warm welcome by staff, who address us by name.

My 102 year old mother spent 2.5 weeks at Bourley Grange while my husband and I went on holiday. She was very well cared for by lovely staff who were always smiling! She enjoyed all the activities particularly the flower arranging. As my father was in the army and fought in Nepal during WWII she felt
very much at home with the Nepalese staff and the care for Veterans which the home focuses on. She told her friends she would be very happy to be at Bourley Grange again in the future if I went on holiday - which is very comforting for me to know

Mum was nervous about moving into a care home as she had been totally independent before circumstances changed and she needed to be in a environment where she was comfortable and looked after but still able to be a little independent.
Bourley Grange have been wonderful, within a week of mum moving
in she was so happy and enjoying herself. Mums just celebrated her 97th birthday and she was made to feel special, with an absolutely beautiful cake.
Day to day activities and outings are always fun. Food is always great and visitors are always welcome to join mum for lunch.
I can see how much mum is enjoying her new home and we are happy that we made the right choice with choosing Bourley Grange.

My mum has been at Bourley Grange for nearly 3 years and it does not have the usual care home feel. This is a warm welcoming community. Every member of staff is engaged in giving afirst class service. The environment is like a hotel, the food is amazing, the nursing and care staff are always kind and
professional. There is always some activities taking place and trips out in the bus
I asked my mum last week if she was happy and she said "very happy" what more can you ask for.

in her surroundings which was lovely to see. My mum was very well looked after & we look forward to her visiting again.

My mother has been a resident at Bourley Grange for four months. She has Alzheimer's and can be very confused at times. However, the staff at Bourley Grange have got to know her very well and can manage her condition with great kindness, expertise and humour.
I had looked at many care homes across
the area and found nothing that met the happiness emanating from the environment here. There are many fun activities that family can join in with as well as activities for Mum during the day. The cleanliness of the home and Mum's room and clothing is excellent.
The food and presentation of meals are so important for residents' dignity and this has really impressed us. My mother is eating beautifully presented and varied food (and snacks which I enjoy too on visits!)
The staff are welcoming to family and build relationships with family too.
Mum has settled really well. The individual care plan is well constructed to meet her needs and I am delighted and relieved she is there.

Bourley Grange is a welcoming environment.
They listen and take action quickly on any raised issues.
The facilities are homely and comfortable.
They keep relatives informed of ongoing events through various means.
With the mixed nationalities of staff, we have had occasions where conversation has
been confused/lost in translation between staff and resident.

    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager

I’m a trained nurse and have a passion for delivering high-quality dementia care and end of life care. I’ve been a care home General Manager for over five years and can’t imagine doing anything else, I love what I do. Care UK puts residents at the heart of everything – something that echoes my values and care ethos.

We’re a closely-knit team at Bourley Grange; residents and colleagues are like one big family. I enjoy guiding the team to do their best work, modelling great care and even providing hands-on care whenever the team needs some extra support.

In my free time, I enjoy travelling and getting out into nature. I also do some voluntary work, and I get a huge buzz out of raising money for good causes like the Alzheimer’s Society. I even did a skydive to fundraise for them!
