My father-in-law is so happy and we have such peace of mind. We looked at many care homes and without question, Bourley Grange ticks all the boxes and more.
The atmosphere is homely and caring and you feel happy visiting. The activities are fun and stimulating for the residents. The gardens are large
and well-kept and provide excellent outside space to enjoy and walk around. The home admissions advisor and her team have been so welcoming to us as a family and we know my father-in-law is in safe and caring hands. (And the food and food choices are four-star).

My husband has settled well in the home and enjoys the outings and activities. The care is first-class. I feel the care team know and understands all his needs. They are always welcoming to relatives and friends and encourage our participation in events. It is great to be able to join a partner at any
lunch or dinner time. The ambience of the home is very positive and uplifting.

Mum has been a resident for eight months now. Before becoming a resident, she had been living on her own with just twice daily carer visits. She was sitting all day watching TV and surviving on microwave meals. Since becoming a resident, she has daily stimulation virtually all day and every day, she
has a close group of friends, the food is exceptional and the care she receives is more exceptional still. The staff are the jewel in the crown of this home and their recent award of "care home of the year" is a fitting tribute to them. The home is purpose-built on two levels and is light and airy with a lovely garden to walk in during the summer. All the fixtures and fittings are of a high quality. Activities and trips out are constant and extremely well supervised. There is professional nursing care available, should it be necessary, and all the residents are constantly monitored. Mum has responded so well to being a resident here. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Such a lovely care home!
I visited all the ones local to me and this stood head and shoulders above the rest from the initial visits alone.
My mum has been there six months now and they've consistently delivered top-notch care not just in ensuring Mum remains safe and healthy but in the way they achieve
that.
All the staff are caring, friendly and welcoming to residents, visitors and each other, there is a wide variety of events planned month to month (both within the home and trips further afield), the grounds are lovely to walk around, the building layout is divided into neighbourhoods with their own nurse station, dining room and lounge and the food is outstanding. Also, just as important is that my mum has a group of new friends who all socialise together and look out for one another.
A lot of other care homes I've been to are impersonal but this one genuinely feels more like a family.

Just wanted to say that the new app is really great. I can see what Mum is joining in with and it’s so lovely to see photos of her enjoying herself. This means a lot to me, especially because I don't get to see her that often (as I live 3.5 hours away by car).

A big thank you to three members of staff, in particular, for their care and hard work, they and everyone involved in making every event for residents and families to enjoy and be part of a great success.
All of the staff show commitment and care for the community they have at Bourley Grange.
Thank
you all.

We are so grateful and appreciative of the wonderful care and kindness given to Mum by all the staff- we couldn’t have wished for her to be any better looked after in every way. The many events, recreational activities and fantastic food, all of which she really enjoyed, greatly improved her well-being
and frame of mind.
Thank you to you all.

My mum came into Bourley Grange for respite following a hospital admission and a couple of falls. She needed to regain her confidence in getting in and out of bed. The team looking after Mum have been caring and supportive in every way. The clinical team have provided feedback on her progress when requested.
Mum can now get in and out of bed. The staff have encouraged Mum to join in social activities and I have always been made welcome. I would be happy if Mum ever wanted to make her home there.

It’s never going to be easy making the tough decision to place your parent in a care home. My mother lives with Alzheimer’s and after viewing many residential homes, my mind was made up instantly upon walking through the doors to Bourley Grange Care Home. The light and airy environment together with
its modest scale, comfortable communal areas, en-suite bedrooms and wonderful garden just made it feel so right for Mum. Mum has been a resident for nearly a year now and I cannot fault the love and care displayed by the staff, the support for family members and the genuine feeling of being part of one big family. There are daily activities and minibus trips suitable for the residents' needs. Parties for friends and family and external entertainment are regularly provided. The food is very good too! I feel incredibly reassured that Mum has settled at Bourley and responds so well with the positive, upbeat team of staff. I would certainly recommend Bourley and so pleased that Mum and our family are part of it too.

I had lunch with my relative, and it was lovely. It was hot, and the breast was homemade. The staff were so attentive and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Bourley Grange is a super place, clean, airy and light. A lovely place to live. I know my relative is well cared for and hopefully content.

I cannot thank the team at Bourley Grange enough for the incredible love and care they have given to my dad and to me and my family during his time with them.
I cannot express enough in words how amazing and wonderful I have found each and every member of staff at Bourley Grange, they really are an
incredible team. I will miss seeing them all so much and I am ever so grateful that I found Bourley Grange and that my dad spent his last few months there.
A special thanks to one member of staff in particular, for the warm and friendly welcome we first received on enquiring and visiting the home and to another staff member, there just isn’t a word that I can use that would credit her enough, she has been absolutely amazing, an incredible person.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Bourley Grange in a heartbeat, it is more than just a care home, it is a home and felt so much a home to me and my family, a truly wonderful place.

My Mum initially went to Bourley Grange in June 2022 for 4 weeks of respite care to cover family holidays. She settled in very quickly. All the staff are so friendly and caring. The whole care home is very clean and welcoming. The food is of a high standard. The gardens are very well kept. Lots of outings
to go on, and all sorts of things going on to entertain the residents. All in all, we can't find any faults. Mum's respite care came to an end, and she is feeling so much at home she has decided to stay!

My mother spent some two months at Bourley Grange for a respite stay. Her nursing care was excellent - very attentive and supportive. The staff were always cheerful and very helpful to both visitors and guest patients alike. The ensuite accommodation was of a high standard, providing welcome privacy,
whilst the communal areas, dining areas and gardens, also of a very high standard, gave ample scope for social interaction. I would highly recommend Bourley Grange to anyone requiring a respite stay or for that matter a nursing home for the long term.

During the last month of my mother's life, she was made as comfortable as possible within her surroundings.
The staff demonstrated care and compassion whilst maintaining my mother's wishes and dignity.
The appropriate agencies were consulted as and when required. Any advice was actioned, including
the changes to medication, diet and general care procedures. I, as next of kin, was able to visit at any time of the day and night. The staff readily liaised with me and kept me informed of any changes of condition, advice from other professionals and her daily food consumption. The staff demonstrated their compassion for my mother and myself when the end of life came. They all, including the management team, paid their respects in a dignified and caring manner, for which I and my family were deeply touched and will be forever grateful to them all.

At the beginning of 2020 I knew the time had come to find a caring and loving residential residence for my Dad. Having visited a few local homes I chose, what was then, Gracewell of Church Crookham and have not looked back since then. This was the start of the pandemic and it was lockdown everywhere.
This meant I was unable to visit Dad which was very hard for both of us, especially Dad as I had seen him regularly. I was helped with this by one very caring member of the team who pushed to get me enhanced visit status. In June of this year my Dad turned 100 years of age, a truly great milestone. What is now Bourley Grange pulled out all the stops for his celebrations and made it something we will never forget. It gives me great peace of mind leaving my Dad somewhere that I know he is safe and cared for which means the world to me! Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.837)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.837) out of 10 for Bourley Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.837 for Bourley Grange is calculated as follows: ( (262 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 307 Ratings = 4.837
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bourley Grange is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager

I’m a trained nurse and have a passion for delivering high-quality dementia care and end of life care. I’ve been a care home General Manager for over five years and can’t imagine doing anything else, I love what I do. Care UK puts residents at the heart of everything – something that echoes my values and care ethos.

We’re a closely-knit team at Bourley Grange; residents and colleagues are like one big family. I enjoy guiding the team to do their best work, modelling great care and even providing hands-on care whenever the team needs some extra support.

In my free time, I enjoy travelling and getting out into nature. I also do some voluntary work, and I get a huge buzz out of raising money for good causes like the Alzheimer’s Society. I even did a skydive to fundraise for them!
