Overall Experience

Generally good service, but sometimes short staffed, with carers leaving some patients a long time before getting them dressed. A good caring atmosphere with matron and staff taking their job seriously and are very thorough.

Overall the care of our mother here is excellent and facilities are good. Occasionally, low staffing in her houshold is cause for concern.

Mum has been there 3 years now and it is very happy. The staff are amazing except at times they are fully stretched and need more help.

The food could do with a bit more variety at times.

Activities are good. There have been a lot of changes recently which have been a little unsettling.

Overall, the care home is good but there are areas of concern.

Room cleanliness - the family have had to alert the staff when ben linen needed changing, the floor needed mopping and toilet roll running out.

Hospital appointments - we expect the care home staff to organise transport and provide an escort, this rarely happened.

On my very first visit to Gracewell Church Crookham, I knew it was the home that I wanted Mum to come into. All of the staff were so welcoming, kind and friendly. Mum has received excellent care and all of the staff have been just brilliant. They treat each resident as an individual and cater to their individual needs.

There is a strong, stable, happy and loyal 'team spirit' amongst the staff and they are so ably led by the outstanding manager. We are still on our journey with Mum here at Gracewell, but just know that she and us are in very caring, kind hands. Thank you.

This was my first experience of a care home. My mother and all of us as a family were and have been so well cared for. The 24/7 nursing care has been outstanding and the home is so well managed. Everyone pulls together in a family atmosphere. So, so welcoming and it became a home from home. Outstanding and thank you.

Overall Experience

My Grandad was here when he was at end of life and the care he received was amazing, they looked after him so well I don't even know where to start by saying how incredible they were. They provided care and comfort when the family couldn't and kept him smiling until the end. The rooms and facilities are beautiful, finished to an extremely high standard and clean. My grandad had a ground floor room that led out on to the gardens where he enjoyed sitting. The food was also delicious and you can tell the chef takes great pride in what he creates and serves.

Overall Experience
I am leaving this review because I would like to both thank and highly recommend this care home. My Grandad spent a month here last summer and his stay made a very hard time for the family that little bit easier.
The staff were all fantastic and treated him like an individual, not just another resident or customer. Everyone took time to learn his name and the things he liked and disliked and I know they made him feel welcome. Although he was unable to take part in all the activities offered there was always something available and the staff filled out their duties with enthusiasm and compassion.
In addition to this, the food was fantastic (better than I have had at many restaurants) and the rooms were lovely (better than many hotels).
The layout is respectable and airy, not like the stereotypical cramped care homes that often come to mind nowadays.

The most important thing is that my grandad was comfortable and kept his dignity in his final weeks - that was absolutely the case here.

This is my home, I am no trouble to my family. I play bridge, I like sport and I read. They try their best to do their best for us. The food is good and you can always get something you like. My room is kept clean and the staff are pleasant. The staff listen to your grievances and try to put it right.

My mum has been here for 2 years and is very happy here. The care is fantastic and the staff are amazing. Although at times there is a lack of care staff, particularly at night.

From the first time we stepped into The Ridings we knew it was the place for mum.
Staff great and home just wonderful, mum would just love it. I felt if I was happy to live here it was good for mum and how right we had been..
Can not fault the home or the staff in anyway, just excellent. We as a family were always made welcome.
We can not thank them enough, when mum was taken ill and was in hospital they were thinking of mum and us all the time.
Sadly, mum passed away, but in her room in the home which was just so nice and peaceful, with family and the wonderful care staff around. Caring for mum and us at this time, nothing was too much for them.

We will always pop in for a coffee and see our new extended family at The Ridings, wonderful staff all of them.

Can't thank them enough for looking after dads wife, our mum and grandmother.

Racquel Merdegia
Racquel MerdegiaJob Title:General Manager

I’m a trained nurse and have a passion for delivering high-quality dementia care and end of life care. I’ve been a care home General Manager for over five years and can’t imagine doing anything else, I love what I do. Care UK puts residents at the heart of everything – something that echoes my values and care ethos.

We’re a closely-knit team at Bourley Grange; residents and colleagues are like one big family. I enjoy guiding the team to do their best work, modelling great care and even providing hands-on care whenever the team needs some extra support.

In my free time, I enjoy travelling and getting out into nature. I also do some voluntary work, and I get a huge buzz out of raising money for good causes like the Alzheimer’s Society. I even did a skydive to fundraise for them!
