My husband was a resident for the last six months of his life. He was reasonably happy and made friends with the staff and residents. Gracewell was always welcoming to visiting family and friends, with open visiting and the offer of tea or coffee. A high standard of cleanliness presented at all times, and a bright cheerful environment throughout.

My darling gran received outstanding care throughout her six months stay at Gracewell of Church Crookham. She was living on Poolside and was supported both emotionally and physically throughout the last precious months of her life. My family and I cannot praise this care facility enough! Nothing was ever too much trouble for the caring and dedicated staff. Every one of the staff members we encountered during my grandmother's stay, all possessed essential care qualities including kindness, compassion and competence. My family would recommend Gracewell and their AMAZING team of staff in a heartbeat. They will always hold a special place in mine and my family’s hearts and made the final months, weeks, days, hours and seconds of my grandmother's life happy, relaxed and dignified. Thank you seems inadequate but I hope we have conveyed our gratitude and appreciation.

My gran stayed here from May to December 2018. She adored her carers at the Poolside Suite. They made her last months full of care, compassion and love. They all genuinely cared. They knew my gran, her favourite foods, her interests, the way she liked her hair styled, even her favourite flowers.

My memories of my gran are ones of happiness and contentment. I can never thank them enough.

Gracewell is an open and well-run place providing care for the elderly who cannot care for themselves any longer. I have always found the staff to be patient and friendly with the residents and the food is always excellent. Also, it is nice that a visiting relative can bring dogs and family with them.

I visit 5 residents each week as a minister of holy communion. All their rooms are clean and tidy. The staff greet everyone in a friendly manner - that is on the front desk or at each nurse station.

If I require one of the lounges to see say 3 residents together for a short service, I am always accommodated. The links with managers are good and are being developed so that any new residents with the Christian faith are referred to the local churches. There are various types of activities both morning and afternoon for residents and their families.

Overall very good. Would be nice to have a bit more feedback, however, when we visit and ask staff how dad has been they are always willing to spend time with us to update us. Also, the staff (carers and nurses) are very responsive when we ask for things. Food good especially breakfast, seems to be a lot of fish which dad doesn't like.

Racquel Merdegia
Racquel MerdegiaJob Title:General Manager

I’m a trained nurse and have a passion for delivering high-quality dementia care and end of life care. I’ve been a care home General Manager for over five years and can’t imagine doing anything else, I love what I do. Care UK puts residents at the heart of everything – something that echoes my values and care ethos.

We’re a closely-knit team at Bourley Grange; residents and colleagues are like one big family. I enjoy guiding the team to do their best work, modelling great care and even providing hands-on care whenever the team needs some extra support.

In my free time, I enjoy travelling and getting out into nature. I also do some voluntary work, and I get a huge buzz out of raising money for good causes like the Alzheimer’s Society. I even did a skydive to fundraise for them!
