Home is clean and tidy. Staff very helpful, food is lovely. Mum does like food with more spice and flavour but this is not always an option.

The building is new and therefore is still very stark and clean hopefully as the residents fill the space it will appear more welcoming. This is not to say that you are not made to feel welcome by the staff because on the whole everyone is very friendly helpful and welcoming. My mother has only just finished her trial period therefore it is difficult to make judgments on all the areas. Her health and general well being have improved since she has been at Woodlands and she is definitely more mobile.

My lovely father in law was coming in as respite a few times and was so happy being here so now is permanent resident also his beautiful dog Daisy she is now a resident here too there both settled and very happy here. Dad is very well cared for but also very independent as well he always peaks so highly of woodland court and the staff and managers are so lovely and go above and beyond for him and Daisy too. The food is very high standards and dad always tells us what meals he has had and definitely loves the deserts. We are so happy Dad is here and Daisy too as together they are inseparable we are so grateful to woodland court for allowing Daisy to be here permanently.

First impression is like entering a smart hotel! Friendly welcome by a staff member who escorted me to the garden room where my friend was sitting - all spotlessly clean with good quality furniture. I had travelled 40 miles to visit, so I stayed for lunch, which was well presented, nutritious and just the right quantity. (soup, sausage casserole, apple crumble, fruit juice). We then walked around the gardens, flowerbeds and seating - before sitting outside on the patio with a cup of tea! My friend's room was lovely, excellent en-suite, roomy wardrobe and drawers, plus shelving for photos and memorabilia.

Woodland Court is a new recently opened building with very modern and clean rooms and communal facilities. My mother was placed here on 28 July, for an initial 2 to 4 week despite trial period. Mum was very reluctant with a closed mind but soon relaxed. Perhaps the best recommendation that I can give is that Mum completely changed her mind within the first week and nothing a insists that she loves it here and does not want to live anywhere else. We have encountered teething problems regarding Mum's routines and washing which were addressed quickly to our satisfaction. The staff are very accommodating and helpful and there is a very cordial and calm atmosphere that is largely due to the care staffs attention and kindly manner. It's early days of course but I have confidence that once the organisation is fully functional my Mother is safe, well looked after and above all else happy.

I have visited Woodland Court several times since it opened, most recently to play The Last Post on VE Day. The staff are so kind and welcoming, which helps create a very relaxed atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. The Head of Entertainment, has a great spirit, which is exactly what is needed in a care setting. And the chef's food was superb for the VE Day lunch. My father was in care in another excellent home, so I can safely say that Woodland Court is among the best. I greatly look forward to my next visit.

Mum was the first resident here for a week of respite care and the staff couldn't have been more attentive. The kitchen staff cooked just what she asked for and the portions were very generous, building mum up and going over and above to make mum feel at home. Obviously as the home is brand new, the fixtures and fittings are immaculate, comfy and well thought out. The staff took time to get to know mum, her history, her likes and dislikes. We even popped back for a cup of tea and cake and the staff were so welcoming and spent time chatting with mum and me and making her feel special. We will definitely be using this home again. She did plenty of activities and although she has Alzheimer's the staff were patient and stimulated her brain with lots of different activities. Lovely people, nothing is too much trouble for them. The price is competitive. Not the cheapest in the area but not the most expensive. Certainly cheaper than some which are nowhere near the high standard of this one

My mum has now been a resident of Woodland Court for just over a month and I can honestly say the level of care she has received could not have been better. Within two weeks, the staff had been able to get my mum more mobile again and she has put on weight following a stay in hospital. Of course the home is new so fresh and clean but it is the staff and mangement that make this home special and the best in Great Yarmouth (in my opinion having tried mum in 4 other local care homes).

Meet the Team (1)

Kate Smith
Kate SmithJob Title:Home Manager

As home manager, the most important part of my role is to ensure residents are living their best lives every day. I am so proud of what we do here, knowing that residents receive the very highest standards of care.

Before coming to Woodland Court, I was a home manager at another care home. I love being part of the Care UK team as it is an organisation that genuinely supports colleagues and wants the best for residents. All my training has been completed through Care UK, and I have NVQ levels 2, 3 and 4.

In this position, you need to be approachable and understanding to support residents and their families. It is also important to me that colleagues feel supported and that they have a good work-life balance. In my previous role, we achieved an outstanding rating for internal governance, which was incredibly rewarding as it showed our rigorous approach to compliance and effective management.

My favourite part of the day is arriving at Woodland Court and catching up with the night team. I also enjoy setting up the morning meeting where we go through plans and find out how residents are feeling.

Outside of work, I spend my time with my husband and daughter and spending as much time in the sun as possible.
