The support that was received by the patient is very satisfactory. She felt valued and taken care of like a family. All the nurses have been very patient to all her needs up to the last moment of her stay. We felt the protection was given especially with the different people who visit her. Overall the
care home was not just about caring but includes safety and security and the patient and that has been felt by the next of kin during the patient's stay.

My dad is happy here and the staff know him well. The home is welcoming and clean.
It would be nice if residents could be taken out for coffee/pub trips.

My step mother is a resident. It was my dads first birthday with out his wife at home. I emailed them telling them this and asked if the could do a cake for him. Answer yes they would be delighted to do so and it was in the diary. Well my husband and I took my dad to see his wife. All the staff were
kind and wished him a happy birthday. After lunch they took us upstairs to a family room, where they had decorated it with balloons, happy birthday signs. On a table in the room was the cake with sandwiches crisps and some bubbles with glasses. They sang to my dad, wished him happy birthday. This was so much more than I expected and my Dad said it was very kind and mad his day very special.
Thank you all so very much.

I wanted to express how happy we are with moving dad to Pasons Grange, from the initial phone call to getting dad settled and helping us manage his needs has been 10 stars. Rozina sat with us and treated us like we were relevant as we had come from a setting that wasn't so professional.

The home

caters for all needs, the care and attention to detail is just mind blowing for us as we know, our very venerable loved one, is now being taken care of. I can't tell you how happy this has made us feel, knowing he is safe and able to have the best life we can possibly give him.

To Rozina and her amazing team, Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.878)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.878) out of 10 for Parsons Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 86 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 86 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.878 for Parsons Grange is calculated as follows: ( (909 Excellents x 5) + (87 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 1014 Ratings = 4.878
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parsons Grange is based on 86 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6, which has been reached with 86 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

I have over twenty years of experience working in older people’s care. My passion is caring for and supporting older people to be as independent as possible. I believe in involving residents in all decision-making so they can live each day in the way they wish.

My father was diagnosed with dementia, so I understand how hard-hit families can be after this diagnosis. We’re here to support loved ones to realise that it’s not the end and that it’s possible to live well with dementia. That’s exactly what we support residents to do. We ensure families are involved in care planning, and loved ones are welcome to be involved in their relative’s day-to-day care if they wish to be. We work in partnership with families, and everything we do is personalised to individual needs and wishes.

I’m so proud of the Parsons Grange team. They’re very responsive and supportive – both to me, each other, the residents and their families. Together we’re determined that Parsons Grange continues to be the best care home in Reading.
