Ponteland Manor

from Frank V (Son of Resident) published on 30 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mam has been a resident of Ponteland Manor for 6 month, the care she receives is fantastic, all the staff are very professional and experienced.
I live over 200 mile away and unfortunately can only get up to visit mam every 6-8 weeks, however, I call every morning to see how she is, and always speak
to a senior member of staff which is very reassuring. I check in on Facebook every evening and it is great to see photos & videos of mam getting involved in the varied and well organised activities & games (she still loves her bingo).
I highly recommend Ponteland Manor, it has an extremely friendly atmosphere with first rate carers & nursing staff.

Ambleside

from G R (Son of Resident) published on 29 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My dad went into respite in Oct, 2024 as I was going on holiday and to see how he liked it. He was struggling to look after himself and had recently had to have a catheter fitted which he struggled to deal with.
He did enjoy the the respite period and the fact there were people around. He became a
permanent resident from November.
The staff are very attentive and caring, the meals were good.
My dad's health declined quite rapidly and he became bed bound from January, 2025.
He died from heart failure in March, 2025.
We were impressed by the care and attention he recieved at Ambleside during his stay there, especially after hearing horror stories of other friends parents care experiences.

Reply from Staci Reeson, Home Manager at Ambleside

Snowdrop House

from Lindsay S (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum moved to Snowdrop House in November 2024. Moving mum from her own home was a difficult decision but it was obvious that her carers at home were struggling to help her with her mobility. Mum was assessed at home and her carers and I could tell straight away from his reactions to mum that Snowdrop
House would be perfect for her. This was proved right - Mum moved in the next day and we haven't looked back! Mum is now on the Nursing ward and the care she is receiving is from a very kind and compassionate team and I would have no hesitation in recommending the home. The food is delicious and mum is always well presented, even while bed bound. The staff are cheerful and interested and respectful of their clients.

My mum has been at Manor Lodge for 3 weeks now and already I notice a huge difference in her well being. She has more energy and absolutely loves the food!
The staff are fantastic and are always on hand if mum needs anything, although she is fiercely independent she is giving into the assistance which
is fabulous.
I thought it would take a lot longer for mum to settle in but I think she is actually enjoying the attention she receives which is great to see.

Manor Lodge

We had noticed that my Mother was declining and she needed more help than I and my sister could provide.
We booked a visit to Manor Lodge, met the Manager there and we assured by what we saw and heard that this was the right place for my Mother.
From the start she received the care and attention that
she needed and loves it there.
The staff are all very helpful and my Mum really appreciates this and has built up relationships quickly.
She seems to have a "new lease of life" there.
We are very thankful for all that has been done for her.

Mother came to the care home recently from living independently. The process was carried out in a professional, caring way with minimal stress for her and the family. This level of care has continued from excellent staff in the well designed and maintained home. Particularly impressive is the level of
cleanliness and the activity programme for the residents. I would strongly recommend the care home.

My mum has been at Appleby House for 2 months now. From the moment we entered the door we felt the warmth of the care team as they all rallied around to make Mum and us feel comfortable and welcome. We are very happy with the care that mum receives and feel that mum is in a very safe environment
where she can feel included. Mum participates in all the activities available and we, her children, also feel included and kept up to date of everything she does. Thank you to all the team for looking after our Mum xx

Mercia Grange

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Mum spent the last three years of her life at Mercia and it became her home. We couldn't have wished for better care for her, all the staff on Jerrard Suite were so kind, caring and good humoured no matter what, and gave Mum the dignity and security she needed. There were many amusing and happy
times when we visited her and special occasions such as Mother's Day and Christmas where the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a memorable and happy time. They ensured she was involved in the many interesting activities taking place each day and Mum particularly loved her trips to the garden centre. We will miss Mercia and the staff, who became like a family to us and to Mum.

Lovely friendly atmosphere with a feeling of a hotel and not a care home. All the staff are professionally and caring. Insuring the comfort of the residents at all times. The facilities from bedrooms to the communal areas including the aviation cafe are warm and welcoming. The garden is a lovely setting
to relax and chat.

Staff are beyond helpful and kind. This is such an exhausting and challenging roll, but I can see that staff do it out of care and dedication. The meals look lovely and the grounds are stunning. Nothing seems to much truble. Thank you- without staff like you the residents would not be cared for so well.

Knebworth

from R M (Wife of Resident) published on 28 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Whilst my husband was not able to fully benefit from the beautiful surroundings and wide choice of activities Knebworth Care Home had to offer in the short time he was there, we cannot fault the high standard of care and compassion that was shown to him and, indeed, to us as well. Nothing was too much
trouble and our interactions with all the staff were supportive, friendly and highly professional. We would recommend Knebworth Care Home unreservedly.

Skylark House

from Clare A (Daughter of Resident) published on 28 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Dad has a lovely large sunny room overlooking the garden. The nurses and carers are so kind, nothing is too much trouble. Any issues raised is dealt with immediately, whether it's a dietary issues, a health question or even just asking for a picture to be put up. The care/reception area is beautiful
with 3 different snacks available daily for residents and visitors alike. Dad is always greeted by name and now really feels this is his home. The activities are varied, ranging from outings to talk, to arts and crafts or hand massages. And very importantly, Skylark smells nice and looks fresh too.

Cairdean House

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum moved into Cairdean at the end of January & is still settling in, no fault of the staff but it is a very difficult time for her.
A family lunch in the fine dining was beautifully catered for & enjoyed by all.
Admission went well & the lady was very helpful allowing us to put things in her room
before she arrived from hospital.
A wide range of activities are available, which Mum enjoys & the hair salon is a plus.
We are given weekly schedules which allow us to plan when to visit.

Review of

Colne View

from Isabelle H (Sister of Resident) published on 25 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My sister was admitted to Colne View two days after being discharged from an area hospital in a very frail, fragile and unhappy state. She required dedicated nursing care and I was unable to provide that at home. It was a crisis situation for us.
Colne View responded quickly to my urgent request;
they provided a wheel chair, arranged a suitable taxi, and admitted her immediately. I was extremely grateful. They provided excellent care for what were to be - sadly - the last few days of my sister's life. She was finally pain free, her nausea controlled, and she was comfortable and at peace. She was tired and sleepy but demonstrably herself, even cracking a few gentle jokes with my son and I who were with her in that last day.
I shall be eternally grateful to the dedicated staff who nursed her those last few days, and the administrative staff who made admission very straightforward, and to everyone who provided thoughtful and caring support to my sister and also to my family. Thank you.

Reply from Kim Richardson, Home Manager at Colne View

thank you so much for your heartfelt and moving words. We are truly sorry for the loss of your sister, and our thoughts remain with you and your family during this difficult time.
It means a great deal to all of us at Colne View to know that we were able to provide the care, comfort, and support your sister needed in her final days. We understand how difficult and distressing it must have been for you to be in such a crisis situation, and we're grateful we could be there to help ease that burden and ensure your sister was cared for with dignity, compassion, and peace.
Your kind recognition of both our care and administrative teams will be shared with them it will mean a lot to know their efforts made a difference during such an important moment in your family's life.
Thank you once again for your trust and for taking the time to share your experience.
