My Aunt Val lived At Asterbury 3.5 years, she loved it. The staff was so friendly and kind to her.
Unfortunately she passed a few weeks ago and we had to pack up her room. The staff continuously came in wanting to help us with anything we needed and to offer their condolences.
When my Aunts condition changed, I was immediately notified and updated with her condition. Wendy, the administrator even helped me v chat with Aunt Val.

I can't say enough how kind and compassionate the entire staff is at Asterbury.

I've only visited a couple of times so far, but each visit has been very reassuring. The home is clean, calm and well organised, and there's a genuinely kind and professional atmosphere about the place.
The staff I met were welcoming, helpful and clearly cared about the residents - nothing felt rushed or impersonal. My aunt seems settled, comfortable and well looked after, which is exactly what you hope for in a care home.
The facilities and rooms are very good, and everything I saw was clean and well maintained. It gives real peace of mind knowing she is in a safe, supportive environment.

From what I've seen so far, the standard of care, dignity shown to residents, and overall management all appear excellent. I'm very grateful for how she is being looked after.

Wendy is absolutely brilliant, she has answered all our questions and assisted in mitigating our fears in relation to my Dad. Dad can be a real grump at times, yet some days can be a delight. Wendy and Nicky on his section navigate this with charm and smiles. The team work hard and navigate the tricky world of dementia and care with patience. We are happy with how Dad has settled in and delighted he is making a few new friends. And to top it all my wife won a gift in the Christmas raffle, the handbag!!

I have to be honest my mother was looked after wonderfully by all the caring staff from cleaners to kitchen staff and carers to management everyone was so friendly always popping in to chat , she always said how good the staff were to her , I think when we chose Asterbury place as a new home for our parents it was the best decision we ever made my two brothers think exactly the same. Thank you to all the staff for looking after our parents right up until the end much appreciated.

I have always found the staff very helpful and in tune with my Wife's needs which are quite acute as unfortunately she suffers with Dementia. The home is always kept clean and tidy which in itself must be quite challenging at times. All in all I could not wish for a better place for my wife to live.

There is little doubt that Asterbury Place is now a very, good Care Home; and a lot of this (improvement), is due to the devoted leadership of Wendy,* & her staff.
I am with my dear 'Jackie' (Georgina) there, at least twice a week, for several hours at each visit; & at different times of the day, and - sometimes early evenings.
Staff are hard working, and kind - without exception.
The canteen staff, and cleaning staff have wonderful work ethics, - nothing is too much trouble for them.
Jackie has been a resident there for nearly two years now, but I've watched with delight; the pride that has grown in recent days.*
I am proud to tell relatives and friends that my Jackie is looked after so well at Asterbury. A number of them, have seen the new 'sparkle' of the Home with their own eyes, & commented positively about it.

I want to thank all staff at Asterbury for looking after my wife for me. They could do no more, and should all receive an immediate wage rise from Care UK.

My wife was diagnosed with dementia some 10 years or more ago, and has been in the care of Asterbury these last 2 years.
In the main my wife is perfectly happy and more often then not in a jovial mood, sadly she has her bad days, but that is of course down to the terrible disease.
I visit most days and invariably it's a pleasure, the Manager and the staff are all most welcoming and do take an interest in you as much as the resident.
Rooms and public areas are all maintained to a high standard which of course from my perspective is important, as I would hate for my wife to be in a place where the standards are not so high.

The care offered by Asterbury does appear to be very good, i do think they go the extra mile in the care of the residents, which of course is what's important.

Asterbury Place is an excellent residential home and set in beautiful surroundings, the garden is well maintained and attractive. It offers my mother warm and caring surroundings and caters for all my mum's needs. She is missing her independence and former home greatly and ALL Asterbury staff are helping her with this. I and my family are happy and relieved she is living there. We visit regularly and get involved with the many activities offered daily, they are run by an excellent activity team. Mum has made loads of friends, as have we when visiting. Everything is available to residents, coffee shop, hairdresser, podiatry and regular GP visits. The meals are fresh and tasty and nothing is too much, particularly if you fancy something different. Thank you all.

I have been very impressed with the care and dedication given to residents, always with a smile and a cheery word. I visit at least once a week and there is always some form of entertainment especially music related which is well attended and enjoyed by all and mini bus trips out are very much appreciated sometimes to a pub or to the seaside.

Wendy Hutton
Wendy HuttonJob Title:Home Manager

I have been in the social care sector for most of my working life, having worked my way up from a carer to home management roles. I have worked with a range of providers, but I became interested in joining Care UK after seeing how they develop their colleagues. I thought this would be a care provider that can really help me progress in my career. I first joined Care UK at Cedrus House in May 2021, and I was promoted to Deputy Manager in January 2023. In December 2023, I moved over to Asterbury Place.

In this role, I believe it’s important to be patient, resilient and supportive. I love that no two days are ever the same. Seeing the smiles on residents’ faces is my favourite part of the day, and I feel proud when they are happy and when colleagues leave their shift happy.
