Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum was resident number one at Harpenden Springs, and from the moment she walked through the door, she has been treated like a queen. The staff are genuinely warm, friendly, and attentive, always taking the time to care for her as an individual.

I've been amazed at how much she enjoys the activities

and entertainment, they've really brought out her enthusiasm, and she happily joins in. Everything is thoughtfully designed to be enjoyable while also stimulating the mind and encouraging movement.

The home itself feels more like a hotel than a care setting, and my mum even calls her room "her flat," which says everything about how comfortable and settled she feels. The facilities are truly exceptional.

On a more personal note, my mum has complex mental health needs, and the care team has taken such care to understand her fully-not just her needs, but who she has been and who she is today.
We feel reassured knowing she is in the right place for this stage of her life.

Mum moved in as one of the first residents. She has settled quicker than we thought, and it is lovely to see her joining in the activities. The place is like a 5 star hotel, and the people so caring. Only wish they had opened up sooner.

I have nothing but praise for the wonderful team at this beautiful new home. They go above and beyond to be accommodating to their residents and really take time to make them feel at home. The food is amazing and of restaurant quality. The activities on offer are varied and encourage participation by
all, including family and staff! The home is kept spotless and is well managed by a very approachable management team. Any concerns are quickly addressed and actioned. I feel very confident that my mum is in safe, caring and compassionate hands.

My 91 year old mother moved into Harpenden Springs a month ago on their opening day. Our whole experience has been as good as we could possibly hope for. The staff are wonderful and have really got to know her. The physio and general exercise has improved her mobility hugely. The food is great and lovely
to see her sitting in the dining room having breakfast with the other residents.
Mum is engaging with the activities and I have had fun with her there for the first in a while. I would highly recommend .

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.642)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.642) out of 10 for Harpenden Springs Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Harpenden Springs Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (47 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.642 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Harpenden Springs Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 15 = 0.267
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2025

I started working in the care sector in April 2012, at the age of 23. As a young person from a different country, I was excited to receive the opportunity to join a successful team and learn how great care is delivered. I have not only matured with age, but I have grown as a person amongst exceptional individuals that I have been fortunate enough to meet in the past 10 years during my career path, going from a Care Assistant role, to a Reminiscence Coordinator, Deputy Manager and becoming a General Manager. I strive to help as much as I can and support the team by sharing all my knowledge and empowering people to achieve their full potential. My goal within the care sector is to continue helping people feel loved and treated as individuals, be it residents, relatives, or staff. I have been a General Manager at our Lambwood Heights Care Home since 2022, and I am now excited to start a new chapter at Oakland Care as the Commissioning Manager for Harpenden Springs.
